As per another report by committee on defence, there should be 42 Squadrons in Air forces but we have only 32.” “The similar situation holds true for officer-soldier ratio but instead of addressing genuine issues to strengthen defence of country, the government busy in spending taxpayers money to benefit blue-eyed,” he said and termed Rafale as biggest scam of country since 1947. “The Rafale is a huge scam involving more than Rs 1,50,000 crore. The money being misused belongs to the people and not the BJP,” added Bajwa. He said the Congress led government was going to purchase per aircraft at around Rs 526 crore while the BJP government is planning to buy it for Rs 1,670 crore. “Our party only wants to know the reasons behind the increase of price for these aircrafts. But the government is not ready to answer," said Bajwa. He said deceiving the country was the government's mantra for the biggest defence deal. The Centre is now indulging in a brazen cover-up exercise, which causing huge loss to public exchequer at the cost of public sector undertaking. EJAC holds sit-in over Article 35 A Srinagar, Aug 26: Employ- ees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) held a peaceful sit-in against any tampering with Article 35-A here on Sunday. The protest was led by EJAC president Qayoom Wani in which various lead- ers of the committee includ- ing vice president Fayaz Ahmad Shabnam also par- ticipated. In a statement, Wani cau- tioned against any attempt to tamper with Article 35-A and also appealed Supreme Court to dismiss petition against the Article which grants special status to the state. “Tampering with Article 35-A will be treated as onslaught on the emotions, aspirations and interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” Wani said in a statement. He added that EJAC will not allow anybody to play with the sentiments and aspirations of the people of J&K. Speaking on the occasion Shabnam assured support of employees for safeguarding Article 35-A. He also cau- tioned of serious consequenc- es if any fiddling is done with Article 35-A. In a statement here a spokesman of Jamaat said, “His family members have rejected the allegation that he was killed by any militant organisation and cite his lecture on the eve of Eid Namaz regarding the importance of Article 35 A as the immediate cause of his killing.” The spokesman said, “In the past he had been picked up by the forces a number of times and subjected to severe torture despite him being innocent. He had established a religious seminary for teaching moral and religious values and also used to provide all possible help to the economically downtrodden people. For these pious activities all the people of the locality and surrounding areas loved and respected him from the core of their hearts.” He said that Jamaat strongly condemns the merciless killing of Tariq in presence of his family and demands impartial enquiry in this gruesome murder. Army pays tributes to soldier Srinagar, Aug 26: Army today paid rich tributes to late rifleman Nehal Gurung who was killed while foiling an infiltration bid in Keran area of Kupwara district. In a statement here army’s Srinagar based spokesman said that in a solemn ceremony at BB Can, Lt Gen AK Bha, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks, paid homage to the deceased soldier. In a show of solidarity, representatives from other security agencies also joined in to pay their last respects to the soldier, he added. He said that Nehal Gurung, 22, had joined the Army in 2014. He belonged to village Khagrohre of Kathua district, Jammu and is survived by his mother. “ In this hour of grief, the army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family of the deceased soldier and remains commied to their dignity and well being,” the spokesman added. 4 newly recruited militants held : Army MUZAMIL SHAH Kupwara, Aug 26: Army on Sunday said that it arrested four local youth, whose pic- tures brandishing Ak-47 rifles went viral on social media on Saturday. Addressing a press confer- ence here commander of 41 Rashtriya Rifles D S Bisht said four local militants who had joined the militant ranks, were apprehended along arms and ammuni- tion in upper reaches of Kalaroos Kupwara on early Sunday morning while they were attempting to exfiltrate across the Line of Control. “On receipt of credible information that four newly recruited militants accom- panied by three hardcore militants of Al-Badr militant outfit planning to exfiltrate, the army in a joint operation with police laid an ambush at Nag Gagi in Kalaroose,” Bist said. He said, “When security forces reached the suspect- ed place the hiding mili- tants fired upon the search party triggering a brief gunfight. Taking advantage of dim light three hardcore militants fled from the spot leaving behind four newly recruited militants.” The army commander said, “Security forces gave newly recruited local mili- tants a chance to surren- der and apprehended them alive.” “The search is going on in the area to nab the three militants who fled from the scene, operation is on in Kalaroos woods,” he added. ‘Arrested youth not Al Badr recruits’ Meanwhile, Al Badr mili- tant outfit on Sunday said that four youth who were arrested in Kalaroos area by the army. Chief spokesperson of Al Badr Al Aatif Hijazi in an e-mailed statement said, “The arrested youth have no affiliation with Al Badr.” Arrested youth not affiliated with us, says Al Badr Don’t migrate to other states: Gujjar foundation urges nomads GK NEWS NETWORK Jammu, Aug 26: Tribal Research and Cultural Foun- dation on Sunday advised the members of Gujjar community mainly the members nomad- ic families not to migrate towards other states and fight vigorously for their rights as scheduled tribes of the state. The community elders in a programme organised here by the Foundation made an extensive appeal to nomad Gujjars who are leaving J&K permanently in search of beer market for milk and milk prod- ucts besides food and fodder for their animals not to take any hasty decision. In a statement here a spokes- man of the Foundation said that nomadic Gujjars are leaving the state in good number towards Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pardesh , Uarakhand and other areas under multiple pressures. The spokesman said that the members of Banhara com- munity (who live in forests) Gujjars of Jammu, Samba , Kathua, Kishtwar and Udham- pur districts are migrating to other states as they are facing extreme shortage of fodder, space for their animals besides security and other reasons. “Further, in absence of Forest Rights in J&K, closures on government lands, low rates of milk products and because of growing communal tensions , the nomad Gujjars are leaving our state gradually which is unfortunate,” he added. Army pays tributes to soldier

Srinagar, Aug 26: Army today paid rich tributes to late rifleman Nehal Gurung who was killed while foiling an infiltration bid in Keran area of Kupwara district.

In a statement here army’s Srinagar based spokesman said that in a solemn ceremony at BB Cantt, Lt Gen AK Bhatt, Chinar Corps Commander and all ranks, paid homage to the deceased soldier. In a show of solidarity, representatives from other security agencies also joined in to pay their last respects to the soldier, he added.

He said that Nehal Gurung, 22, had joined the Army in 2014. He belonged to village Khagrohre of Kathua district, Jammu and is survived by his mother.

“ In this hour of grief, the army stands in solidarity with the bereaved family of the deceased soldier and remains committed to their dignity and well being,” the spokesman added.

Kupwara, Aug 26: Army on Sunday said that it arrested four local youth, whose pic-tures brandishing Ak-47 rifles went viral on social media on Saturday.

Addressing a press confer-ence here commander of 41 Rashtriya Rifles D S Bisht said four local militants who had joined the militant ranks, were apprehended along arms and ammuni-tion in upper reaches of Kalaroos Kupwara on early Sunday morning while they were attempting to exfiltrate across the Line of Control.

“On receipt of credible information that four newly recruited militants accom-

panied by three hardcore militants of Al-Badr militant outfit planning to exfiltrate, the army in a joint operation with police laid an ambush at Nag Gagi in Kalaroose,” Bist said.

He said, “When security forces reached the suspect-

ed place the hiding mili-tants fired upon the search party triggering a brief gunfight. Taking advantage of dim light three hardcore militants fled from the spot leaving behind four newly recruited militants.”

said, “Security forces gave newly recruited local mili-tants a chance to surren-der and apprehended them alive.”

“The search is going on in the area to nab the three militants who fled from the scene, operation is on in Kalaroos woods,” he added.

‘Arrested youth not Al Badr recruits’

Meanwhile, Al Badr mili-tant outfit on Sunday said that four youth who were arrested in Kalaroos area by the army.

Chief spokesperson of Al Badr Al Aatif Hijazi in an e-mailed statement said, “The arrested youth have no affiliation with Al Badr.”

Don’t migrate to other states: Gujjar foundation urges nomads

Jammu, Aug 26: Tribal Research and Cultural Foun-dation on Sunday advised the members of Gujjar community mainly the members nomad-ic families not to migrate towards other states and fight vigorously for their rights as scheduled tribes of the state.

The community elders in a programme organised here by the Foundation made an extensive appeal to nomad Gujjars who are leaving J&K permanently in search of better market for milk and milk prod-ucts besides food and fodder for their animals not to take any hasty decision.

In a statement here a spokes-man of the Foundation said that nomadic Gujjars are leaving the state in good number towards Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pardesh , Uttarakhand and other areas under multiple pressures.

The spokesman said that the members of Banhara com-munity (who live in forests) Gujjars of Jammu, Samba , Kathua, Kishtwar and Udham-pur districts are migrating to other states as they are facing extreme shortage of fodder, space for their animals besides security and other reasons. “Further, in absence of Forest Rights in J&K, closures on government lands, low rates of milk products and because of growing communal tensions , the nomad Gujjars are leaving our state gradually which is unfortunate,” he added.
