DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES: 2015-2016

The following activities were conducted by the dept. of Mathematics in the academic

year 2015-16.

June-2015

• World Environment Day was celebrated in the new seminar hall on 5th June

2015.On that occasion Mrs. Teresa Mathews (Agriculture officer, Nattika) declared

the winners of last year’s vegetable development program. Our department shared

the first prize with the Dept.of Commerce. As In connection with the World

environmental day observation a meeting was conducted part of environmental day

observation, in afternoon section, students of our department cleaned the campus.

July-2015

• In the month of July, as the part of the observation of ‘ Anti-plastic carrybag day ‘

students of our department removed the plastic wastes of the college premises.

• Alumni meet GANITHAM-2015

Like all other years, the Alumni meet Ganitham -2015 was conducted on the

afternoon of 26th July. Our principal Dr. Anitha Sankar C., members of alumni,

retired teachers of Mathematics department, teachers and students of

department of Mathematics were present on that occasion. They shared their

memories, expectations and offered their support towards our future

development programs. They appreciated the top students of previous year.

College alumni meet was in the forenoon of the same day. Our 3rd semester

students (Sreelakshmi K U, Vaishnavi Pavithradas, Rajasree V R, Kavya K P,

and Haritha V H) performed a group dance on this occassion.

August-2015

• On 5/08/2015 a program “Karkidaka Vismayangal” was conducted in connection

with Karkidaka masaacharanam by Botany department. students actively

participated in the competitions connected with Karkidaka Vismayangal and

secured second prize in poster making competition and third prize in food fest.

• The sent off meeting to the PG students (2013 - Admission ) was conducted by

their junior students and teachers on 7/08/2015 at 2 pm. Students shared their

experience during the two years on that occasion

• By the direction of Disrict Suchithwa Mission , our students cleaned the road side of

our college as part of their CSS work on 19/08/2015

• Onam celebration was on 20th august 2015 .Our students actively participated in

each competition conducted by the College Union.Our department secured the

second prize in the pookkalam competition and one team from our department

participated in the ‘Ona pattu competition’.Students and teachers of our department

enjoyed the onasadhya together.

• Also there was a CSS quiz competition on 20/08/2015 at 10 A M in the old

seminar hall under the guidance of the District Suchithwa Mission. Two teams from

our department participated in that Quiz Competition and one of our teams

secured the third prize.

• PTA meeting of the fifth semester B.Sc Mathematics students was on 19-08-2015

at their classroom. Principal Dr. Anitha Sankar C and teachers of our department

were present on the occasion. In total 21 parents were there for the meeting.

September-2015

• Our department conducted a one day seminar on 4th September 2015 at 10 a.m. in

the new seminar hall.Mr.Albert Antony T, Assistant Professor, PMG College

Chalakkudy was our chief guest and he delivered a talk on “Basics of Analysis and

Algebra”.

• Smt. Asa Anilan was the returning officer of the first parliamentary mode

election

October-2015

• This year’s Centralized valuation Camp of of 2nd and 4th Semester BSc

Mathematics was in our college . The camp was from 6th October to 9th October.

Our department faculty Mrs. Susaji M R was the Chairman of that camp.

November-2015

• A one day tour for the final PG students were arranged on 27th November 2015

to Athirappilli, Thumboormuzhi and Vazhachal. Our staffs Susaji M R, C K

Unnikrishnan and Diviya K D accompanied the students.

• Arts fest

Arts fest of the college was conducted on 09-11-15,11-11-15, & 12-11-15. The

students of our department participated in almost every items and performed

very well. They got prizes in both on stage and off stage items like group dance,

group song, patriotic song, mime, skit, thiruvathira kali, rangoli, story writing,

versification, pencil drawing, cartoon, painting etc.

Also our department got overall 2nd prize in the arts fest and one of our

student got prize for overall championship.

• PTA meeting of the third semester B.Sc Mathematics was on 20-11-15 at their

class room. Principal and the teachers of the department were present on the

occasion.24 parents participated in the meeting.

• Vegetable development project-Campus Haritham - 2015-16

This year’s vegetable development project was inaugurated by Mrs. Vinu P

(President of Nattika Panchayath) on 25-11-2015. Principal Dr. Anitha Sankar C,

Mr. Sobha Subin (Block Panchayath Member), Jisha (Krishi Bhavan, Nattika)

,teachers and students of our college were present there. Students of

Mathematics department planted the seedlings of greenchilly. Students very

actively participate in the farming activities. All these works are considered for

December-2015

• A meditation class for the sixth semester BSc Mathematics students was

conducted. Www.heartfulness.org team led by Mr.Suhas (one of our college

alumni) guided the meditation class in their class room from 11/12/2015 to

16/12/2015, one hour each day.

• NSDC aptitude test for sixth semester BSc students was conducted on

15/12/2015.

• Christmas celebration of our college was on 18th December 2015. Students of

our department actively participated in each competition conducted by College

union. Our students participated in the Carol song competition, crib making

competition and Christmas carol competition. They won 2nd prizes for both crib

making and Christmas carol competition

• PTA meeting of first semester B.Sc Mathewmatics was on 15-12-2015. Principal

and teachers of the department were present in the meeting. 27 parents

participated in the meeting.

• Mrs. Diviya K.D(Assistant Professor) and five of our 4th sem P.G students

participated in the Two Day UGC sponsored National Workshop on Topology

held at S.N College Alathur on 3rd and 4th December 2015.

January-2016

• Computer lab inauguration

Computer lab near Mathematics department was inaugurated on 19-01-2016 at 10p.m.

Dr.V P Nandakumar(M D Manappuram group of companies) inaugurated the lab. The

computer lab is funded from FIST. It consist of 13computers, one laptop, one printer,

scanner and one photocopier. Nandakumar sir offered A\c for the computer lab.

• Association inauguration

The inauguration was conducted on 08-01-16 (Friday). Dr. Mary Matilda Retd. of

Maharajas college Ernakulam inauguratd the function. Smt.Asa Anila HOD of our

department gave the welcome speech. Principal Dr. Anitha Sankar C gave the

presidential address. College union chairman Fasil Yousaf and Associate professor C.K

Unnikrishnan sir gave the felicitation and association secretary Bindhya V.B delivered

vote of thanks.

February-2016

• National seminar

Two day U G C sponsored national seminar on “Number Theory , Discrete

Mathematics and their applications” was on 18th and 19th of February 2016. In

total 210 members registered for the seminar. Mr .P Mohan (Hon’ble P V C of

Calicut University) inaugurated the seminar. There were 6 technical sessions and

one paper presentation session for the seminar. Mr Joju K t(Asso.Professor,

Prajyothinikethan college, Pudukad), Dr. Dersanambika (Asso. Professor Fatima

Mata National College, Kollam) Major Dr, R Shaida (Asso. Professor, Farook

College, Calicut), Dr. Bijumon R (Asst. Professor, M G College, Iritty )Dr. M

Kunhananthan (Asst. Professor Goa University), Dr. Jayanthan (Asso. Professor,

Goa University) delivered talks. Dr. Jayanthan was the chief guest of the

valedictory session.

• PTA meeting of the sixth semester B.Sc Mathematics was on 19-02-2016. All

the teachers of the department were present in the meeting. 15 parents

participated in the seminar.

March-2016

• D zone

Many of our students participated and won prizes in the d zone competition held

at Govt. Engineering College, Thrissur.

• Mathematics association arranged a send off meeting to retiring teachers Smt. V

P Asa Anila(H O D of Mathematics) and Smt. K R Parvathy(H O D of Statistics)

on 04-03-2016.All the teachers and students of the department were present on

the occasion.Teachers and students shared their memories about the retiring

teachers.

• The Centraliised Valuation Camp of fifth semester B.Sc Mathematics was in our

college under the chairmanship of Smt. M R Susaji, Asso. Professor of our

department.The camp was from 08-03-2016 to 14-03-16

• Mathematics alumni GANITHAM arranged a send off meeting to the retiring

teachers Smt. V P Asa Anila(H O D of Mathematics) and Smt. K R Parvathy(H O

D of Statistics) on 20-03-2016. Principal Dr. Anitha Sankar C inaugurated the

meeting. In total 50 members were present on the occasion.

• 4th sem P.G students participated in the Two Day UGC sponsored

National Seminar on ‘”Indian Mathematics- Golden Age’ held at Asmabi

College, Vemballur on 22nd & 23rd March 2016.
