SR Firmware Update Using Lectrolink

Newer generation Lectrosonics wireless products are equipped with a serial port for updating Firmware using the Lectrolink Firmware & Programming Interface. The following tutorial applies to the SR,SRA & SRA5P model receivers.

What you will need for the job

Load LecNet2 Software into your Computer SR Firmware Update

Insert the LecNet2 CD in your computer and follow the instructions for loading the software.Be sure to uninstall any previous versions ofLecNet2 software before installing the latestversion.

If your SR Receiver is slot mounted using either the SRUNI or SRSNY Power adapters, then you will need to wire your Power Adapter for external power. Refer to the pin out diagrams below for wiring yourAdapter. The SR receiver requires a minimum of 6V and a maximum of 18V DC power.

Powering the SR Receiver SR Firmware Update

Remove the Receiver from the Housing.

1. Remove the 4 screws (prt# 28869)Attaching the Power Adapter andControl Panel to the Housing.

2. Slide the receiver out from the Housing.

Set the Receiver to Update Mode

Getting the SR receiver into Update mode can be tricky but it can be done. You may need the help of a second person if you are unable to do both functions.

1. Hold down both arrow buttons. 2. Apply power to the Receiver byplugging the power adapter into the unit (while holding down the arrow buttons).

Note: Attempting to power up the unit from the front panel while holding the arrow buttons will NOT get the receiver into “Update” mode.

Connect Lectrolink to your Computer

1. Plug the USB Cable into your computer.

2. Plug the opposite end of the USB cableinto the Lectrolink.

Connect Lectrolink to the SR

Plug the Lectrolink cable into the Serial Port.

Insert the cable with the Red and Green wiresMatching up with the letters (R & G) marked onThe Circuit Board.

Launch Lectrolink Utility

Once installed, launch the LectroLink utility by navigating to the menu, as shown above. The typical file path is:Start >All Programs >LecNet2 >Tools >LectroLink Utility

After installing LecNet2 software and launching the LectroLink Utility, refer to the help files for assistance with USB driver installation and operating the LectroLink. Access the help files by clicking on the “Help” button in the LectroLink utility. The help button is located at the lower right of any LectroLinkutility window.

1. Choose Activity - Select “Update a Wireless devices Firmware”. Click (Next)2. Select Adapter - Select Lectrolink fromthe list. Click (Next) 3. Prepare Device to be Updated - Confirm the SR is connected to the Lectrolink and the receiver is in the “UPDATE” mode. Click (Next)4. Select Update File - Locate the firmware file with the extension “.hex” on your computer by clicking the (Browse) button. After selecting the file ,Click (Next)Contact Lectrosonics for latest firmware version.
