1. INTRODUCTION
As per conditions M1 to M7 of Environment Protection Licence (EPL) 3607, this report summarises environmental monitoring
results for Springvale Coal Services for the period July 2015. Monitoring sites are shown on the Lambert’s Gully Mine Site
section of the Centennial website and in Appendix 1. Although EPL 3607 also covers Springvale Colliery, monitoring data from
this site will be reported separately from this Springvale Coal Services Monitoring Report.
A summary of the licence information is provided in the following tables. Table 1 shows the licence information and Table 2
summarises the parameters, units and dates of sampling for monitoring data for the reporting period. It should be noted that
there was a variation to EPL 3607 issued on 12 August 2014.

2. WEATHER
A summary of rainfall data recorded at the on-site meteorological monitoring station during the July 2015 reporting period is
shown in Table 3 below.

3. AIR QUALITY MONITORING
The air quality monitoring results for the reporting period are summarised below.
3.1 Depositional Dust
Depositional dust (g/m2/month) results (insoluble solids) for the year to date are shown in Table 4.

CS-D# – Coal Services Dust Gauge
EPL 3607 does not include a licence limit for depositional dust, however a rolling average air quality criteria of 4 g/m2/mth is
commonly used for comparison purposes. Dust monitoring data indicates that dust deposition results for July 2015 range from
below 0.6 at CS_D5 to 6.4 g/m2/month at CS_D3.
4. SURFACE WATER QUALITY
Surface water pH, total suspended solids (TSS mg/L), electrical conductivity (EC µS/cm), oil and grease (mg/L), filterable iron,
filterable manganese are monitored at LDP006 as indicated on the Environmental Monitoring location figure, located in
Appendix 1 and on the Centennial website. LDP007 is also part of the EPL however this monitoring location is the discharge
from a sump and generally has no discharge.

5. INCIDENTS
There were no incidents recorded during the reporting period.

6. NOISE MONITORING
Noise monitoring for the operation is conducted at monitoring locations detailed in Appendix 2.
Activities from WCS complied with the relevant development consent noise limits during monitoring on 20
and 21 July 2015 at all monitoring locations except NM7 during the night period.
WCS noise levels at NM7 exceeded the LA1,1minute criteria by 3 dB during the night period on 21 July 2015.
Impact noises as a result of maintenance works being carried out on the WCS overland conveyors were generally
responsible for the site only noise levels.
7. COMPLAINTS
There were no community complaints during the reporting period.

Notes:
1. Criterion may or may not apply due to rounding of meteorological data values;
2. Noise emission limits do not apply during the following meteorological conditions: wind speeds greater than 3 metres
per second (at a height of 10 metres); or temperature inversion conditions greater than 3oC/100m;
3. Estimated or measured LAeq,15min attributed to WCS;
4. Bolded results in red indicate exceedance of criteria; and
5. NA in exceedance column means atmospheric conditions outside conditions specified in development consent and so
criterion is not applicable.
