SPRINGTIME IS HERE!

Mother Nature has given us a New Year and it’s the season to make a fresh start on the farm. To get your place in ship-shape, add these tasks to your spring cleaning checklist:

• Tend the gardens and flower beds: Make them ready to plant. Remember if mama ain’t happy, ain’t nobody happy.

• De-clutter the shop and the barn: Give them a solid sweeping to clear out last year’s dirt and clutter. While

you’re at it, give the windows a good scrub to really let the sunshine come through! Also, organize shelves and storage areas.

• Take inventory. Anything you are low on, add to your farm store shopping list. Anything you haven’t used in 2 years or you no longer have a use for, TOSS IT OUT! You will get more done in a clean organized shop and not waste time digging through piles of stuff you don’t need.

• Eliminate weeds: Grab your propane torch (being mindful of the day’s elements, how much you burn at a time, and local regulations) to burn off weeds along ditches and fence lines. Finish off tall, dead grasses to create space and opportunity for new growth.
