TITLING RESEARCH 2: CABIN FEVER 2: SPRING FEVER.

This poster is a representation of what the film will be about. It clearly shows a school bus indicating that the film will be based around a school and teenager. The image of a skull over the school bus indicates death. This symbolises the death of the teenagers within school.

Firstly the film starts without any credits visible, and shows the passing of a large lorry that appears to be speeding. We then see a police officer who makes it clear that the lorry is speeding by the way he soon takes off in his car following the lorry on its journey. This indicates that the audience will be following the opening credits through a journey.

Page 3: Spring+fever

The lorry then turns into an animation, and the we follow the journey of the lorry as a cartoon journey. This is when we are able to see the first of the credits which starts with the production companies, having the more well known companies placed first.

the opening credits following the cartoon theme, could be misleading towards the audience. Cartoons connotes to the audience that the film is in fact a children's film, yet the actual genre of the film is horror. Having the opening credits following a more innocent theme than that of the film, could be misleading for many audience members, yet it dosnt give away the genre of the film, so leaving the audience in suspense.

Through the opening credits we follow the journey of the lorry, as it crosses many different landscapes, which shows the scale as to how far it travels to get to its destination.

After the production companies the names of the producers are then shown. This credits the most important people who contributed to the production of the film.

During this credit, we are able to see a water bottle falling into the river, from the passing lorry that we have been following through all the opening credits. The clear blue water of the river shows its pure and clean, and there doesn't seem to be and indication of danger.

A criticism of the credits is that they are done in white, this clashes with the background and the name in the credit becomes unclear to the audience.

COLOUR

The contrast with the bright red against the pure blue indicates blood, danger and the contamination of the water. We follow the bottles travel down the river, which soon becomes emerged in contaminated infected water.By having an old boot in the water signifies how dirty and infected the water is.

Page 7: Spring+fever

We are able to then see the contaminated river water, entering a factory. Once again we see the contrast between the clear blue water and the streams of red, blood contaminated water.

The infected water takes over the piping system within the factory, being distributed in all different directions. This indicated the spread of the infected water, and how the scale of the problem will increase.

Page 8: Spring+fever

This shows the mass production of the water bottles being filled up with the contaminated water. This connotes to the audience the mass production of the water, and how large the scale of deaths will be.

Below you are able to see a finger and a eye ball inside of the water bottles. This is the first indication of death throughout the whole of the opening credits. This shows that death is soon going to come to those who drink this blood filled water. The water being symbolised as red throughout indicates the blood , death and disease that fills the water bottle, and warning us that no one should be drinking this water, this leaves the audience feeling helpless and in despair were we are unable to do anything about it.

SOUND

Through all of the opening credits a innocent cartoon like tune if playing. This contradicts the film as so does the cartoon like opening. The music is once again misleading towards the audience, where is doesn't follow the conventions of a teen horror movie. The music is happy and uplifting and shows no indication of the deaths and horror which is to come throughout the film. The music creates suspense and puts the audience on edge die to them knowing it’s a horror yet in the opening credits their is no indication of what is going to take place within the film.

In this animation we are able to see the contaminated water bottles on their way to their final destination. Once again dramatic irony is used here, were we are able to see the bottles which are contaminated with a deadly infection.

Page 10: Spring+fever

This shows the arrival of the contaminated water at the school, and it being distributed into the school canteen. The animated characters are comical, and creates a sense of humour for the audience, once again mislead, because what is about to happen throughout the film is no laughing matter.

The last set of opening credits is at the school. The use of red water once again connotes to the audience of its blood and contamination. The pure clean water from the hose pipe soon turns to the diseased red colour, showing the spread of the infected water throughout the water system. The cleaner soon misses the bus and the contagious water soon ends up in the face of the other cleaner.. Leaving the audience questioning is he now contaminated?

Page 11: Spring+fever

By the ending credits we are clearly able to see that the opening credits followed through a journey of how the water bottles came to the school. By following the journey it created dramatic irony, as we know the water in contaminated, and the mass production of the water bottles will lead to many deaths.

Once the cartoon credits finish and it goes back into real life, we are able to see the water is in fact clear, and the school children have no indication that the water in contaminated. This all builds to the tension of the audience were we now know more than the characters in the film, making the audience nervous and in suspense as we are unable to tell the characters not to drink the water.
