GISELLE MON 3 MARCH 7.30PM

SLEEPING BEAUTY TUE 4 MARCH 7.30PM

SWAN LAKE WED 5 MARCH 7.30PM

GISELLE The most poignant of all classical ballets combines powerful emotions and visual splendour in a chilling and heart-rending tale of love, treachery and forgiveness from beyond the grave.

The story of Giselle and her aristocratic but duplicitous lover Albrecht is set to a glorious score and brought to life by the magnificent costumes and virtuoso performances of the Russian State Ballet of Siberia.

SLEEPING BEAUTY Every child’s favourite fairy-tale, this is the classic story of love and innocence, mystery and magic set to Tchaikovsky’s sublime score. Stunning choreography, sumptuous costumes and wonderful sets form the fantasy world in which the Lilac Fairy struggles against the evil Carabosse.

SWAN LAKE The greatest romantic ballet of all time is brought to life by Tchaikovsky’s haunting and unforgettable score. From the impressive splendour of the Palace ballroom to the moon-lit lake where swans glide in perfect formation, this compelling tale of tragic romance has it all.

BILL KENWRIGHT PRESENTS

‘A TRIUMPHANT EVENING...UNMISSABLE AND UNBEATABLE’

THE SPECTATOR

STARRING MAUREEN NOLAN AS MRS JOHNSTONE

Page 7: Spring-Summer 2014

Written by Willy Russell, the legendary Blood Brothers tells the captivating and moving tale of twins who, separated at birth, grow up on opposite sides of the tracks, only to meet again with fateful consequences. The superb score includes Bright New Day, Marilyn Monroe and the emotionally charged hit Tell Me It’s Not True.

Few musicals have received quite such acclaim as the multi-award- winning Blood Brothers. Bill Kenwright’s production surpassed 10,000 performances in London’s West End, one of only three musicals ever to achieve that milestone. It has been affectionately christened the Standing Ovation Musical, as inevitably it; ‘brings the audience cheering to its feet and roaring its approval’ Jack Tinker, Daily Mail.

Bugsy Malone follows the rivalry between two half-witted street gangs and the washed up, well-intentioned, one-time boxer who steps in to take control of Fat Sam’s gang and give Dandy Dan and his boys what they’ve got coming. In this tongue-in-cheek tribute to 1920s gangsters, the message is one of romance and good, clean fun; the characters are wonderful cartoon cutouts; and the weapons of choice are ‘splurge’ whipped cream guns, flour bombs, and custard pies.

Marking the 100th anniversary of the start of the First World War, Birdsong is the hit, critically acclaimed stage show based on the world famous novel by Sebastian Faulks.

In pre-war France, a young Englishman Stephen Wraysford embarks on a passionate and dangerous affair with the beautiful Isabelle Azaire that turns their world upside down.

As the war breaks out over the idyll of his former life, Stephen must lead his men through the carnage of the Battle of the Somme and through the sprawling tunnels that lie deep underground.

Faced with the unprecedented horror of the war Stephen clings to the memory of Isabelle as his world explodes around him.

Set both before and during the Great War, this mesmerising story of love and courage is performed by a large ensemble company including Olivier-nominated actor and former Blue Peter presenter Peter Duncan and Hollyoaks’ Jonny Clarke.

Following on from last year’s National tour, seen by over 75,000 people, now it is your chance to experience this stunning piece of theatre live on stage.

Following last year’s production of Agatha Christie’s Go Back For Murder, described

by Swindon Advertiser as ‘a beautiful piece of theatre’, the Agatha Christie Theatre

Company return to Swindon with a brand-new drama.

A quintessential English country estate is thrown into chaos following the

murder of eccentric inventor Sir Claud Amory, and the theft of his new

Arriving at the estate just moments too late, one man immediately senses a

potent brew of despair, treachery, and deception amid the estate’s occupants.

That man is Hercule Poirot.

In the first play ever written by Agatha Christie we are introduced to a

character who went on to become the most famous detective of all time.

THANK YOU FOR HELPING GREAT ORMOND STREET HOSPITAL

©2007 Great Ormond Street Hospital Children’s Charity (©2008 Theatres for Theatres) Registered charity no. 23582

Since October 2010 HQ Theatres, alongside its sister company Qdos Entertainment, has been raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital’s Theatres for Theatres Appeal. To date we have raised £500,000 for the appeal which aims to build new state-of-the-art operating theatres at the hospital, which treats very sick children from across the UK. This money has been raised through the generosity of our audiences and the staff of the Wyvern Theatre who have taken part in various fund-raising events and activities. We will continue to support the Theatres for Theatres Appeal and your ongoing support is greatly appreciated. On behalf of Great Ormond Street Hospital, a huge thank you.
