Corden EPS were contacted by Browns Builders Merchants to provide a solution to a site situation for their customer, Bloor Homes, where the ground-works package had been awarded to P Hughes Ltd. The site was situated on the old Gedling Colliery site and the ground investigation report findings classified the site as NHBC “Amber 2”. With this situation the code of practice reverts to BS8485- 2015. The solution. Corden EPS attended a site meeting where the main contractor and the ground-worker were advised that 4.5 points would need to be achieved to comply with BS8485-2015. This would be made up of ventilation, membrane, installation and validation: Corden EPS Total Gas Barrier – tested to ISO 15105:01 to meet the requirements of British Standards. Installation by experienced and qualified personnel – Water-Lines Solutions Ltd. Independent validation – 2 points. Minimum 150mm clear void below beam & block floor – 2.5 points. Water-Lines Solutions Ltd were awarded the contract to supply & install the gas protection measures in accordance with BS8485-2015 and validation was carried out in accordance with CIRIA C735.
