Certificate in Financial Planning (CFP

Temple University in partnership with Kaplan Schweser, the leading provider of financial planning and education materials, offers the Certificate in Financial Planning (CFP). This program meets the chal­lenges faced by today’s financial planning professionals in the brokerage, insurance, accounting, banking and related fields. The program fulfills the educational component, one of four requirements of the CFP® certification, established by the Certified Financial Planner Board of Standards Inc.

As technology advances, digital expertise is increasingly valuable. The Certificate in Digital Advertising will provide you with the opportunity to expand your digital skill set, build your career, and enhance your personal brand. Offered in partnership with Temple University’s Klein College of Media and Communication, this online certificate program is taught by well–respected professors with real­world experience. The four required courses to earn the Certificate in Digital Advertising are:

Each course is taught online during a five–week period. Students learn indepen­dently at their own pace through pre­recorded video/audio lectures and reading materials that are provided in advance. Digital Photography I This introductory course will teach you about digital photography, how to use your camera, and how to compose well–exposed and focused images through weekly assign­ments. Digital Photography II Prerequisite: Digital Photography I Expand your digital photog­raphy skills by learning to use more of your camera’s features. After a review of the basic set­tings for your camera, you’ll learn to control your camera to create great photographs as you learn about image stabilization, scene modes, histograms, avoid­ing exposure problems, adding mood to your photos, and how to use Aperture and Shutter Priority Modes. You will have a weekly shooting assignment, and a discussion of the results in class.

FSI: Forensic Science Goes to Court (Ages 13 to 17) A burning car, multiple missing persons, dry bank accounts and suspects galore – this murder mystery is not for the faint of heart. Campers will partici pate in laboratory techniques commonly used in the forensic industry, as well as examine a mock crime scene. The accumu lation of evidence through drug analysis, blood spatter examination, fire debris composition testing and other practices take part over two weeks of investigation. Both weeks are encouraged for the full experi­ence. Week 1 campers conclude their initial investigation by acting as the Grand Jury by establishing probable cause and screening criminal indictments. Week 2 campers continue to strengthen their case and finish with criminal sentencing in a mock trial where the accused face their accusers. Will the deceased re ceive justice? Or will the suspect be released by lack of evidence? You decide. NEW ROBLOX® Makers-Coders-Entrepreneurs! (Ages 8 to 14) Discover how to code in the Lua language while playing and designing worlds in ROBLOX®, an online universe where you can create anything you dream of. This new class combines game design concepts, coding, and fun! Young entrepreneurs will also learn how to navigate Roblox’s fast growing market­place to publish their games. Student–created games will be available on a password

NEW Maker Labs: Make Your First 3D Creation! (Ages 8 to 14) Create your first action figure, de sign custom jewelry, make a new toy, learn how to prepare a model for 3D printing, and create a de sign portfolio to showcase your work! Using professional­level modeling software, campers will sculpt, texture, and render their own 3D creation. No prior experience is necessary and 3D designs will be available on a password protected website to share with friends and family. Summer Education Camps Registration, Refund and Withdrawal Policies

The following policies apply to most, but not all, summer camps at Temple University.Payment and Registration: Payment, in full, is due upon registration. Payment includes the camp fee as well as any materials fee or computer lab fee. Register and pay by credit card at temple.edu/summer/youthcamps. Or, call the Office of Non-Credit and Continuing Education at 267-468-8500. You may mail your paper registration form with a check or money order, made payable to Temple University. We regret that we cannot accept credit card payments by mail. Cash is also not an acceptable form of payment.

Early Bird Discount: Register and pay by March 31, 2018 and take $50 off each camp fee, unless otherwise noted that discounts do not apply. Discount is not taken off the materials or computer lab fee. Early bird discount can be combined with one of the other discount options below.

Multi-Session Discount: Save 10% when registering your child for 3 or more full-day, one-week (5-day) camp sessions, at the time of registration, unless noted that discounts do not apply.ORSibling Discount: Save 10% for each child attending a full-day, one-week (5-day) camp, during the same week, unless noted that discounts do not apply.

Refunds and Withdrawals: You must request a withdrawal at least 3 weeks before the start date of the camp ses-sion that your child is enrolled in. If your withdrawal request is received at least 3 weeks before the camp session start date, you will receive a refund minus a $50.00 withdrawal fee. Withdrawal requests received less than 3 weeks before the camp session start date will not be entitled to any refund. This is regardless of when you registered for the camp. All withdrawals must be received in writing and can be sent by email to [email protected] or by fax at 267-468-8506.

RegistrationPayment in full, by check or money order, must accompany your mail-in registration form. Online registrations must be paid in full by credit card. We regret that we cannot accept cash. Registrations are processed in the order that they are received; register early to reserve your place in the classes of your choice. You will receive a confirmation letter by email indicating that you are registered.

Registration DeadlineRegistrations should be received one week prior to the start of the first class session.

Cancellation and Refund PolicyA participant who withdraws from a course in writing, up to one week prior to the starting date of the course, will receive a refund less a $25 withdrawal fee; for all certificate programs the withdrawal fee is $50. For courses costing $75 or less, the withdrawal fee is $10 per course. No refunds will be given after that time. For summer camp policies, see page 27. E-mail your withdrawal request to [email protected]. Please note that if you do not officially withdraw from the course and you do not attend the course, you are still responsible for payment. Temple University reserves the right to cancel a course for any reason. If the course is cancelled for any reason, you will be notified and your entire tuition fee will be refunded. Course LocationMost course descriptions include a code that indicates the location: TUA=Temple University Ambler, TUCC=Temple University Center City, ONL=Online. If you want to confirm the location of a course, please call us. After we process your registration, you will receive a confirmation email indicating the course and campus location of your class(es). Parking and TransportationTUA – Parking is free for those enrolled in non-credit courses. You will be mailed a parking permit for use in the student lot (which is about a two-block walk from most buildings). TUCC – Discounted evening rates, with Temple validation, are available at nearby garages. Informa-tion on parking and rates will be sent to students by email. TUCC, located close to Suburban Station, is convenient to SEPTA train and bus service, the Broad Street and Market Street subways, and the PATCO Hi-Speedline.
