Omega Lambda’s fundraising committee has been proactive in searching for ways that our chapter can further establish a leadership reputation among the Georgetown student body. The first project that the fundraising committee has been working on is to design and sell t-shirts and snap-back hats to raise money for our chapter. The t-shirts and hats will be designed by current AKPsi brothers and will be sold to promote Georgetown Day. For this project, our goal is raise at least $500 to $550 by the end of the spring semester. The fundraising committee is currently collecting ideas and apparel designs from other brothers. In mid-February, the designs submitted to the fundraising committee will be sent out to AKPsi members and the final design will be decided upon by popular vote. The fundraising committee is excited to take advantage of a great opportunity where Omega Lambda will be able boost school spirit as well as establish a closer bond with the greater Georgetown community.

School Pride is a large part of the Omega Lambda chapter of

Alpha Kappa Psi

The Omega Lambda chapter could not have asked for a better pledge class last semester. The brothers’ high level of enthusiasm led to the biggest rush turnout in our chapter’s history. Pledges were able to get to know the current brothers at several events including formal information sessions, a Georgetown basketball game watch, and casual meet and greets. Over 50 freshmen and sophomores rushed; we accepted 22 as pledges. Our pledges have transitioned into committed brothers who fit our fraternity ideals.

Since last May’s graduation, we have stayed in touch with our graduated brothers closely. Alumni have visited our chapter events and given insight on how AKPsi has affected their lives post-graduation. We have also seen two of our brothers who graduated in December and are happy to witness them progress into their professional careers.

Omega Lambda is committed to brothers – both new and alums. We are thrilled to watch them grow and develop with their strong foundation of brotherly values.

Omega Lambda is very happy to be sponsoring a team for Relay for Life once again. The philanthropic and fundraising committees will be combining their efforts in order to make this endeavor successful by raising money that will be donated to cancer research. Also, we are participating in a brand new event this year in support of lung cancer, Jog for Jill.

In addition, our chapter is currently working on partnering with DC Central Kitchen. Efforts would go toward preparing sandwiches and other food items for the homeless, which would then be distributed throughout DC.

Finally, we will be participating in Georgetown’s Spring Festival. For this event, AKPsi will be sponsoring a booth where kids can get their faces painted or play other games.

Philanthropic Professional

The professional committee is hard at work planning events for this semester. Two major initiatives we are working toward are creating a mentor program with alumni in the business community and scheduling meetings with professionals in various business fields.

We are also hoping to bring in successful entrepreneurs to give a presentation on how to start and run your own business. Another event we are planning on holding is a seminar about the basics of finance, investing, or stock trading.
