Spray Nozzles and Systems for Automotive Industry
Advanced spray technology based over 125 years experience
Today’s producers have tooperate in a tougher environment than everbefore, driven by:
 Customer requirementfor improved quality
 Constant pressureon costs
 Fluctuating demand Tighter pollution controls
Nozzles and spray systemsare used in virtually every stageof production and their perfor-mance can have a majorimpact on product quali ty andmanufacturing costs.
For over 125 years, Lechlerhas pioneered developmentsin spray technology for allindustries, designing, develop-ing and manufacturing pro -ducts of outstanding reliabilityand performance. All accom-panied by expert advicebased on a thoroughknowledge gainedthrough experiencein providing bothconventional andinnovative solutions. Today, Lechler offers
the most comprehensiverange of nozzles and spray systemsavailable to industry worldwide.

High availability of standardproducts
A lot of spray applications inautomotive production requirestandard nozzles with shortdelivery times. Our computercontrolled inventory ensuresrapid delivery of our widerange of standard nozzles.Automated manufacturingprocesses guarantee not onlyoptimum productivity, but alsoconsistency of nozzle parame-ters to exacting tolerances. Each Lechler nozzle type isidentical in both its dimension-al and spray characteristics. This applies to every singlenozzle within our large port -folio of sizes, materials andspray characteristics.
Custom made solutions
Whererever a standard nozzledoes not meet customersrequirements, we will find anindividual solution, togetherwith the customer. Right fromthe beginning of the develop-ment, functions and spraycharacteristics of Lechler noz-zles are accurately definedand recorded by our sophisti-cated measuring techniquesand reliable documentation.
Intelligent solutions toreduce maintenance costs
Lechler nozzles are used inmany steps of the automotiveproduction process. Almostevery application requires alarge number of nozzles. Those nozzles have to bereplaced in defined periods. This causes maintenance timeand costs. Therefore Lechlerdevelopped intelligent nozzlesystems, for quick and easyhandling, to reduce mainte-nance costs to a minimum. One example is the LechlerMEMOSPRAY® system for sur-face treatment. This systemallows quick replacement ofthe nozzels while keeping thedefined spray direction.

From develop-ment, through manufacture toinstallation, Lechler productsare subject to continuousquality management. State ofthe art test and in spectionmethods, often in excess ofour ISO 9001: 2000 certi f -ication, guarantee the dura-bility, reliability and longevity of Lechler spray nozzles andsystems.
Spray solutions for automotive production — some examples
Assembly and quality assurance
In the last stages of automotiveproduction Lechler nozzlesare used for conservation andde-waxing of the car bodies, car wash, high pressurecleaning and simulation tests(e.g. corrosion, leak tests,aqua-planing).
Cooling of tools in mechanicalmanufacturing with solid jetnozzles
Leak test with flat fan nozzles, producing a rain curtain
Surface treatment of car bodies with MEMOSPRAY®,the “intelligent” nozzle system
Nozzle applications in automotive production can generally be divided intothree production steps:
In surface treatment and theforming of sheet metal it isimportant that the spray direc-tion of the nozzle can be fixedexactly. Therefore mostly flatjet nozzles with ball joints areused, eg. Lechler MEMO-SPRAY® or Easyclip. Anotherimportant feature of those nozzles is that they can bechanged easily, without tools,to reduce maintenance costs.
Mechanical fabrication
In the production of compo-nents like engines etc. forexample Lechler nozzles areused for cooling of tools, lubri-cation, and the cleaning anddrying of components. In the main standard nozzlesare used, but additionallycompressed air nozzles fordrying and self rotating nozzles for cleaning can beutilized.
