St Augustine’s Prayer Chain
We have a prayer chain operating to take prayer requests and concerns. It is a group of people who pray (confidentially) for you or for someone you have concerns about. Our coordinator is Elizabeth Hitch. You can contact Elizabeth on: 332-6288 and she will pass on your prayer need to the chain.
Parish A.G.M.—July 25th, 9.30am for a 10am start. We know you were all really disappointed when this had
to be cancelled due to COVID-19... So now here’s your chance to attend (!)
THANK YOU TO ALL THOSE THAT HAVE SENT IN THEIR REPORTS!
From Liz Hay, Prayer Co-ordinator
The 9.15ers are underway with their intercession roster, and I’m working on getting one in place for 11am (please let me know if you would like to participate.) There is a desire also to offer prayer-in-the-corner again, during communion at 9.15, so that will be my next focus. Again, anyone who would like to participate, please let me know by email. It’s always good to learn from those who have led a life of prayer. I came across this quote from Mother Teresa, which I’m going to try and put into practice more. “I always begin my prayer in silence, for it is in the silence of the heart that God speaks. God is the friend of silence – we need to listen to God because it’s not what we say but what he says to us and through us that matters. Prayer feeds the soul – as blood is to the body, prayer is to the soul – and it brings you closer to God. It also gives you a clean and pure heart. A clean heart can see God, can speak to God, and can see the love of God in others.” From A Simple Path And everyone, do pray on for the person God is calling to be our next vicar.

Welcome to St Augustine’s
‘Weekly News’ 12th July 2020 15th Sunday in Ordinary Time
From Rev Christine Prayer! Can you imagine your life without it? For many of us, prayer is such a natural and integral part of our lives that we hardly notice when we are doing it, and probably can’t imagine what it would be like if we weren’t! Monday week, the 20th, is the closing date for applications for a new Vicar. I encourage
you to keep praying regularly about this.
Here’s some great quotes on prayer to build your focus:
There are parts of our calling, works of the Holy Spirit, and defeats of the darkness that will
come no other way than through furious, fervent, faith-filled, unceasing prayer
- Beth Moore
Prayer is simply talking to God like a friend and should be the easiest thing we do each day
- Joyce Meyer
True prayer is neither a mere mental exercise nor a vocal performance. It is far deeper than
that - it is spiritual transaction with the Creator of Heaven and Earth - Charles Spurgeon
Prayer is not overcoming God’s reluctance, but laying hold of His willingness - Martin Luther Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours - JESUS Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus - Paul the Apostle Prayer Changes Things! Let’s increase our prayer focus this week for God to select and send our new Vicar in the next months. I’d like to suggest we each pause each day for the next week at midday to pray for this. Is there anything “mystical” about the midday hour or praying at the same time? No. It’s simply a “marker” for helping us remember to do this!

With deep longing we pray for our parish of the future..... We pray for your guidance in the selection of a new Vicar.
