Our Amity Scholarship Programme rewards excellence and celebrates extraordinary potential, and our scholars benefit from an extremely generous education enrichment fund.

The benefits of being an Amity scholar

‘Inspiring excellence’ is one of the four founding values of our community at Amity; beyond the classroom, one of the ways we try to foster excellence is through our Scholarship Programme which, through a series of talks, workshops, trips and coaching opportunities, fuels our students’ curiosity, creativity and aspiration.

It is a flourishing project, with 34 students aged 10-14 currently holding Academic, Art, Sports and Performing Arts Scholarships.

Students awarded Scholarships receive the following benefits:

Exclusive, ‘invitation-only’ access to a programme of talks, workshops and trips Bespoke courses to develop skills (sourced from outside providers, including EtonX) Support developing a portfolio of skills and achievement An Inauguration Ceremony All scholars’ awards are displayed on the Scholarship Honours Board Regular review and target-setting meetings with the Director of Scholarship to drive progress.

Please note that the Scholarship Award is not a financial award; being awarded a Scholarship does not automatically result in fee reduction.

SPORTS SCHOLARSHIPS

Amity International School has a growing wealth of sports facilities that sets it apart from other schools, so there are plentiful opportunities for students to develop both personal fitness and their chosen sports.

Our sports facilities include a full-size football pitch, two tennis courts, an outdoor basketball court, a fully-fitted sailing and water sports academy, 400m running track, a large indoor sports hall and a junior and 50m Olympic Swimming Pool.

Other benefits for Sports scholars include:

• Guidance from a strong team of talented, committed staff and professional coaches

• Opportunities provided through our close links with a variety of sports and dance providers

• The opportunity to play sport regularly, both as team members and as individuals

• Participation in the Athlete Development • Programme for their chosen sport(s). As

members of this programme, students benefit from targeted strength and conditioning training. They will be mentored as they work on progres- sive technical and tactical development targets for their chosen sport(s)

• Talented students are encouraged to represent their sport at city and national levels where possible.

Pupils apply for a Scholarship to start the following academic year. If, for example, the student is in Year 6 he or she may apply for a Year 7 scholarship.

Only students from Year 6 to Year 10 can apply for the Sports Scholarship.

How do I apply?

All applicants must complete a Scholarship Application Form by Sunday 1st March 2020.

The following supporting documents need to be sent by email to scholarship@amityabud-habi.ae by Sunday 1st March 2020:

• A sports CV that outlines all previous sporting achievement(s)

• Any relevant qualification or certificates • Letters of reference from two former

coaches.

External candidates

1. Students not currently at Amity must first satisfy the entry requirements, details of which can be obtained from the Registrar, Mrs Etheridge: registrar@amityabudhabi.ae.

2. Upon receipt of an offer letter from the school, external candidates may only then begin an application for Scholarship.

How will I be assessed?

Assessments will take place Wednesday 18th March 2020.

Applicants will:

• Undertake a battery of performance-based fitness trials. Components of speed, flexibility, muscular endurance, power, and game based aerobic/ anaerobic endurance will be assessed

• Demonstrate their technical skills and tactical knowledge of their chosen sport(s)

• Coach a drill to a number of junior players in their specialist sport

• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of basic PE principles of training

• Interview with the Director of Sport and the Director of Scholarships. Amongst other things, applicants should be prepared to discuss their specialist sport(s), their experience and aims for the future.

BURSARIESCommitted to broadening access to our extraordinary education, Amity International School offers financial assistance in the form of a bursary.

Bursaries (financial assistance), are available for pupils who find it financially difficult to access an Amity education or enrichment opportunities. Bursaries may be up to 100% of termly school fees. They are awarded based on priority each year and on a case by case basis following a presentation of the financial circumstances of the family concerned. Please note that financial support is not automatically offered as part of the Scholarship Award. Applicants who seek financial support to help cover the cost of an Amity Education or its associated subject-related enrichment opportunities must apply for a separate bursary.

How can I apply for a bursary?

Parents who wish to apply for a bursary must complete a Statement of Financial Circumstances which can be found on the school website www.amityabudhabi.com. The Statement of Financial Circumstances Form must be submitted to the Registrar by email (bursary@amityabudhabi.ae) no later than Sunday 1st March 2020.

Fee-matching for external candidates

For external candidates who are awarded a Scholarship, a bursary equivalent to the difference between Amity’s fees and those of the candidate’s current school fees may be given. To be considered for this, please apply for a bursary.
