Create A Routine – Try to wake up at the same time each day, eat your meals at the same time and workout at the same time to try and keep your body in as much of a steady routine as possible Stay Hydrated – Staying hydrated again is not only important for athletic performance but also for immune system support Stay Connected – Athletes tend to be around their teammates so it’s important to share workouts, challenges, and motivation through social channels and zoom so they don’t feel alone. In addition to the tips shared with athletes there was also time for questions, as well as an opportunity to share advice amongst themselves on how they are surviving this time. Many athletes asked how to use the products at home, they also shared how they plan their days so that they can stay on top of their training. Our athletes are committed to their training, so that the minute they can go back to competing they are ready to go! We’re continuing to support our athlete’s, teams and coaches throughout these difficult times. Consume Protein Throughout the Day – Having your protein intake spread throughout the day is important for not just maintaining muscle mass but also for supporting your immune system Train Midday – When possible trying to workout outside in the middle of the day is ideal because this is the time when your body can make the most Vitamin D from the sun. Vitamin D plays an important role in immune support and performance, so it is essential that athletes get enough. As part of Inspire Institute of Sports (IIS) partnership with Herbalife Nutrition India, their athletes and support staff from across India attended a virtual Sports Nutrition webinar conducted by Dr. Dana Ryan- Director, Sports Performance and Education of Herbalife Nutrition. Dr. Ryan touched upon simple and effective tips athletes can focus on during these times of restricted training and responded to questions about India-specific dietary requirements, hydration, nutrition and supplementation from the athletes. IIS continues to work with their athletes away from the institute amidst this pandemic by providing them remote High Performance expertise and input from the IIS staff on various aspects of their training. This past week, Dr. Dana in conjunction with the WorldWide Sports Marketing team conducted sports nutrition training with Herbalife Nutrition sponsored athlete’s, coaches and staff from India. Over 20+ athletes and staff participated. During a time when high performance athletes are being told to stay home, Herbalife Nutrition provides support for keeping our athletes healthy as they continue to prepare for their sports eventual return. While this is an unprecedented time for all of us, athletes especially are creatures of habit and routine. They typically eat, train, and sleep at the same time, therefore it was important to provide the athletes with simple tips to help them continue to keep their bodies at a high level.
