Event Description

The 2016 International Cyber Security and Intelligence Conference (ICSIC) provides a rare

opportunity for Security professionals, Researchers, Academics, Management, Executives

and eligible students to learn from renowned experts in the field on various cyber-attack and

intelligence topics.

This event offers a unique platform for your organization to showcase your business,

products, services, and innovations to the rest of the world through media access, networking,

organized meetings with other companies, new business partners, and possible access to new

cyber security research.

According to a study by McMaster University, 1.7 million Canadians were victims of identity

theft in 2008. The annual cost of identity theft in Canada has been estimated at nearly $1.9

billion (http://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/rsrcs/pblctns/cbr-scrt-strtgy/cbr-scrt-strtgy-

eng.pdf).

The question, however remains, “How do we protect ourselves from the epidemic of cyber

attacks that has cost businesses billions of dollars and negatively impact lives?”

Cyber criminals are becoming smarter and more sophisticated in their determination

to wage war against nations, corporations and even individuals; cyber-attacks are

growing in complexity and scope. Statistics of late reveal shocking details on both

consequence and cost. How far will they go? The more advanced they become in

their efforts to infiltrate and exploit technology at all costs, the more disastrous and

urgent this situation becomes. Every year the number of attacks continues to rise.

The famous IT Governance Blog in UK offered statistics of the cyber-attacks in 2015:

95% of tested web applications are vulnerable to attack; 90% of large organizations

reported suffering a security breach; 75% of directors were not involved in the review

of cyber security risks; 93% of DPA breaches are caused by human error; online

banking fraud increased by 48% and cyber-attacks on business increased a whopping

144%.

Similarly, a report released by Hewlett Packard and the U.S-based Ponemon

Institute of Cyber Crime revealed that hacking attacks cost the average American

firm $15.4 million per year. This is twice the global average of $7.7 million. And

just recently, the report of hacking of New York Dam was published by CNN

(http:// money.cnn.com/2015/10/08/technology/cybercrime-cost-business/).

The 2016 ICSIC is organized by Ontario College of Management and Technology

and provides a good platform for organizations around the world to learn from the

global cyber leaders, about the possible ways to stop the attackers using

combination of human, technology and processes. Sign up today to meet new

business partners, generate new leads, build strategic alliances and be empowered

with new information.
