SHELL ECO MARATHON ELECTRICAL
LETTER TO THE SPONSORS
Respected Sir,
Pakistan Navy Engineering College (PNEC), the Karachi campus of National University of
Sciences & Technology (NUST) Islamabad, is proud to announce the 2014 Shell Eco Marathon
project: a premier collegiate engineering competition which challenges students around the
globe to apply their engineering concepts and skills in the design and fabrication of aPrototype Solar Electric Car. Shell Eco Marathon is an international competition organized by
Shell to promote development of eco-friendly cars for the future. The students must design
and subsequently test the vehicle to optimize it for faster and reliable performance for a
green future. This time the competition is set to take place in Manila, Philippines from 6 th-9th February 2014 where universities from all over the world will compete to win the crown of the
most energy efficient car.
TEAM PNEC is a group of budding engineers committed to experiencing high-endautomotive design and engineering. Members of TEAM PNEC add a new dimension to their engineering knowledge and expertise during the practical application of their theoretical
knowledge in such a project. Students exhibit immense dedication and commitment as they
juggle their technical responsibilities to the team in parallel with an intense engineering
degree course load. The students of PNEC have proven their metal in the past Shell Eco-
Marathon competitions and have brought notable laurels back home for their engineeringskills. Students from PNEC have also been participating lively in the Formula Student
competition held in Silverstone, UK.

SHELL ECO MARATHON: THE STORY
Shell Eco-marathon challenges student teams from around the world to design, build
and test ultra-energy-efficient vehicles. With annual events first in the Americas, then
Europe and Asia, the winners are the teams that go the furthest using the least
amount of energy. The events spark debate about the future of mobility and inspire
young engineers to push the boundaries of fuel efficiency. At Shell Eco Marathon
Asia 2013 around 150 teams competed to travel the furthest on the least amount of
energy.
SHELL ECO MARATHON: THE STAGE
Shell Eco-marathon Asia 2014 will take place for the first time in Manila, Philippines,
from February 6 to 9, 2014. Manila is the capital and the second largest city of
the Philippines which has a population of over 12 million. In February 2014, the
historic Luneta Park in Manila will be transformed into a track where over 150 student
teams from countries across Asia and the Middle East will compete in designing,
building and testing cars that can travel a set distance on the least amount of fuel.

SHELL ECO MARATHON: THE LEGACY
The legacy of the Shell Eco Marathon is rightly owned by PNEC by its participation in
Germany as one of the 2 Pakistan’s premiere teams. Team PNEC is a consistent andproud participant at Shell Eco Marathon for past 4 years now. Our students take up
the challenge each year and design and manufacture a car based on the set rules.
The quality of work is improving by each passing year and they have also bought
laudable laurels to make the nation proud.

Prototyping is considered an art, and at PNEC
they hone the title of Picasso in this game. Our
concept cars designed in 2009 which were
represented in Germany.
An Aerodynamic Marvel 2010
Speed, Speed and More Speed. This red devilmade its way to Shell Eco Marathon 2010 Asia and
met considerable applause for its designing and
fabrication.

It is imperative that the rules of the
game are constantly stressed upon
when the stakes are high. The image

BOLT 2012
BOLT successfully cleared all the technical and
safety inspection procedures with quite an
ease. Bolt was ranked at 10th place all over
Asia (Gasoline category) leaving behind teamsfrom Singapore, India, Brunei, Korea and Iran.
