SPONSORSHIP PROPOSAL 2016 -‐ 2017
2
Dear Prospective Sponsor, The Learning Disabilities Association of Niagara Region (LDANR) is a non-for-profit organization that provides direct-impact programming to children with learning disabilities living in Niagara. The continued success and ability of our organization to support individuals with learning disabilities is entirely dependent upon the financial support of government grants, partnering organizations and the generous contribution of corporate sponsors and private donors. As the demand and need for our programs continues to grow, so too must our sponsorship efforts. Proceeds received through sponsorships will ensure programs such as Reading Rocks are offered to children and youth across the Niagara Region. Reading Rocks is an individualized, one-on-one literacy program where a child who is behind in their reading, works with a trained literacy tutor on phonics, sight words, fluency and self-regulation skills through fun, hands-on, interactive activities. This is just one example of our five current programs supporting children with learning disabilities in Niagara. At this time, we respectfully ask that you consider becoming one of our 2016/2017 sponsors. As a sponsor you will be recognized in Niagara as a supporter of children’s literacy and well-being programs and an advocate for the improvement and empowerment of local youth. We have included in this package our sponsorship opportunities as well as information about LDANR programs. You are invited to help us reach our mission by becoming a sponsor. The following pages will provide you with the details on how your organization can support our work. Thank you in advance for your consideration, Ashley Short B.Ed., M.A. Executive Director LDANR

Who do we serve? Serving the Niagara Region, each year LDANR provides approximately 500 program spots for children between the ages of 4-‐16 years. Over 200 volunteers work within the 5 programs listed below. The following programs are offered throughout the year in various locations:
LDANR Programs Reading Rocks – one-‐on-‐one literacy support program for children and youth. Reading Rocks Junior – early literacy intervention program supporting children in kindergarten and grade 1 at risk for reading difficulties. Let’s READ – small group literacy program with a one-‐on-‐one support component for children with learning disabilities. Better Emotional & Social Times (BEST) – a program promoting self-‐advocacy skills, self-‐esteem, social skills and coping strategies for children with learning disabilities. During the summer months, children with learning disabilities fall even further behind their peers. LDANR provides children with learning disabilities living in Niagara with a full day summer program to address this summer learning gap. Sunshine Learning Achievement & More (SLAM) – Serves children 6 – 10 years old through hands-‐on, engaging literacy activities, social skills and self-‐regulation skills support, as well as recreational activities such as cooperative games and swimming. SLAM offers a one-‐on-‐one literacy component and is partnered with the YMCA for the recreational component. In addition to the programs directly supporting children above, we also support parents. LDANR inherited the Niagara Region program Helping Others Parent Effectively (HOPE) an Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) support program for parents living in Niagara who has a child or children with ADHD. In partnership with Brock University’s Child & Youth Studies program, LDANR has a RESEARCH TEAM that studies the efficacy of its programs to monitor progress and measure success. The children participating in LDANR literacy programs make significant literacy gains.
