STEMInspirationthroughLivingComputersSTEMInspirationthroughLivingComputersseekstoinspireapassionforSTEMandliteracyinstudentsbeginningwithafieldtriptotheLivingComputersMuseuminSeattleStudentsandtourValveSoftware,agamedevelopmentcompany.Studentswillexperiencehands-onandimmersiveexhibits.StudentsrecreatetheclassicgameofPacManusingaprogramminglanguagecalledScratch.

SalishSeatoOlympicsChallengeTheSalishSeatoOlympicsChallenge(S2O)isdesignedtogivethestudentstheopportunitytomakelife-longconnectionswiththeircommunity.StudentsapplytheirclassroomlearningtorealworldissuesinnaturalsettingsaroundtheOlympicPeninsulawhileworkingwithprofessionalsinmanyfields.PositiveBehaviorInterventionsandSupports(PBIS)FilmThevideoproductionclasscreatesvideospromotingahealthyschoolculturewhichwillbepresentedtothestudentbodyduringadvisorydays.StudentsgenerateafilmthatfocusesononeofthePBISthemes(BeRespectful,BeResponsible,andContribute).Thesefilms,entirelystudent-generated,willallowthevideoproductionstudentstobecomestewardsforthepositivebehaviorstheyexpecttheirfellowpeerstoshowoncampuseachandeveryday.WritersintheSchools(WITS)CollaborativeProgram4ththrough8thgradersareimmersedinatwo-weekprogramworkingcloselywithpublishedauthorsandteachingartiststodevelopconfidenceintheirwritingandinthemselvesastheyworkonthecreativeandrigorousassignmentsdeliveredbyWITS.PortTownsendHighSchoolSeattleChildrenTheater"TheDiaryofAnneFrank"10thgradeWorldHistorystudentswillattendSeattleChildren'sTheatertosee"TheDiaryofAnneFrank.”Thistheaterexperiencebuildsupontheirworldhistoryknowledgeandhowtheatermayinformourcurrentevents.UpdatingandExpandingScienceEquipmentandTechnologyThisgrantreplacesextensivelyusedandwornVernierprobesandhandheldcharger.Additionalitemsincludetriplebeambalances,highcapacitydigitalscales,springscalesandmasssetsforPhysicsandaPCRmachineforuseinBiologyandAPBiology.ImprovingCollegeAccess–PSATfundingforall11thgradersThisgrantfundsthePSAT/NMSQTforall11thgradersatPTHS,allowingequalaccesstothisvitalcollegepreparationtool. ForensicAspectsofArsonInvestigationForensicScienceStudentswillhavetheopportunitytolearnfromEastJeffersonFire-Rescue,JeffersonCountyFireInvestigationTaskForce,andcommunityexpertsinthefieldoffireinvestigation.Frompropertechniques,conceptofchainofcustody,andattributesoffire,studentswillexplorecareerpathwaysandinternshipopportunitiesinfireandlawenforcement.
