John C. Schmidt, APR, is director of marketing communications for BASF Corporation, the North American operations of the world’s largest chemical company. His team is responsible for helping drive profitable business growth for BASF in North America by managing branding, market and customer communications, and corporate advertising. Prior to assuming this position in 2014, he served as manager of corporate media relations/corporate spokesperson, responsible for positioning BASF in major news outlets, managing executive interviews, providing media relations training, and leading issue and crisis communications. Schmidt has been with BASF since 2003.

Schmidt has more than 30 years of experience in marketing communications and public relations, including 15 years in the telecommunications industry with AT&T, Lucent Technologies and Global Crossing. He served as head of marketing communications during Lucent’s divestiture from AT&T, building a customer-focused plat-form that helped support double-digit sales growth during the company’s first four years. At Global Crossing, he managed public relations during the company’s Chapter 4 filing, with responsibility for issues relating to layoffs,

building closures, customers, and network performance. He started his career as a newspaper reporter and editor for Worrall Publica-tions.

Jena Lepkowski is a Senior Account Executive at Creative Circle Advertising and Creative Staffing. She has dem-onstrated competence in connecting leading companies in New Jersey with advertising, marketing, creative, dig-ital, and interactive professionals. She has been recognized for her interpersonal skills and ability to understand the needs of corporate clients. Since her start at Creative Circle, Jena has worked with numerous candidates to identify relevant skillsets and has exercised keen judgement in connecting clients with qualified professionals.

Jena joined Creative Circle in 2013. With over six years of professional and entrepreneurial experience in both marketing and recruiting, Jena continues to use her expertise to connect companies and business owners with uniquely qualified professionals in the fields of marketing and advertising. She started as an entrepreneur in New York City was responsible for multiple areas including social media management, client relationship building, communications, digital and traditional advertising, and budgeting, for a B2B accessory, design and import com-pany. John C. Schmidt, APR, is director of marketing communications for BASF Corporation, the North American operations of the world’s largest chemical company. His team is responsible for helping drive profitable business growth for BASF in North America by managing branding, market and customer communications, and corporate advertising. Prior to assuming this position in 2014, he served as manager of corporate media relations/corporate spokesperson, responsible for positioning BASF in major news outlets, managing executive interviews, providing media relations training, and leading issue and crisis communications. Schmidt has been with BASF since 2003.

Schmidt has more than 30 years of experience in marketing communications and public relations, including 15 years in the telecommunications industry with AT&T, Lucent Technologies and Global Crossing. He served as head of marketing communications during Lucent’s divestiture from AT&T, building a customer-focused plat-form that helped support double-digit sales growth during the company’s first four years. At Global Crossing, he managed public relations during the company’s Chapter 4 filing, with responsibility for issues relating to layoffs,

building closures, customers, and network performance. He started his career as a newspaper reporter and editor for Worrall Publica-tions.

Schmidt has a bachelor of arts degree in journalism from Duquesne University and an MBA in marketing from Montclair State University, and he has received Accreditation in Public Relations. He is a member of the American Marketing Association and the Public Relations Society of America.
