The Founders’ Board of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is pleased to host its annual Winter Wishes holiday celebration, comprised of two unique events:

These two events provide donors and corporate sponsors with unique benefits including recognition, hospitality and/or employee engagement opportunities while also raising critical philanthropic dollars for Lurie Children’s.

Holiday Cocktail CelebrationTHURSDAY, NOVEMBER 16, 2017 THE CASINOThe Holiday Cocktail Celebration will welcome more than 500 guests to kick off the holiday season and celebrate the lifesaving and compassionate healthcare that Lurie Children’s provides. The evening will include a special opportunity for guests to make a gift to the event’s Wish List, which will help the hospital deliver on its promise of providing world-class medical care to the children of Chicago and beyond.

Holiday Outreach EventEARLY DECEMBER 2017 NAVY PIERThe Holiday Outreach Event provides students at underserved Chicago Public Schools the chance to experience the joy of Navy Pier’s Winter WonderFest, often a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Sponsors will receive employee volunteer opportunities such as partnering with a local school and assisting students with tree decorating.

Philanthropic ImpactThe Founders’ Board of Lurie Children’s is pleased to announce its newest funding commitment: a three-year $7.5 million gift, which will support New Frontiers in Pediatric Medicine and Research. This pledge, which directly aligns with Vision 2025, the hospital’s strategic plan, will provide philanthropic support to three key areas: Transformational Research, Community-Based Healthcare Delivery and an innovative endowed chair in Medical Ethics. Specifically, this commitment will:

• Support a new frontier of research focused on investigating the Perinatal Origins of Disease, while also providing funding to recruit a placental biologist. This researcher will focus on identifying and understanding causes of infant disease before the child is even born in order to optimize neonatal infant outcomes.

• Establish a new frontier of community health care providers. These individuals, which represent a new kind of healthcare professional at Lurie Children’s, will bring the expertise of Lurie Children’s into the homes and communities where it is needed the most. Specifically, our goal is to provide young moms with the resources they need to create a safe and healthy environment for their unborn babies, thereby ensuring a healthier start for these children.

• Create and fund a new frontier of leadership, through an endowed chair in Medical Ethics. This important thought leader will provide guidance and counsel to our caregivers as they support families facing challenging situations and decisions as a result of their child’s illness and suggested treatment protocol.

As was the case 135 years ago when Julia Foster Porter founded our hospital, the Founders’ Board continues to blaze new trails in Chicago – and beyond – through the adoption of this commitment.
