Drop the AR from the infinitive and add one the following endings.

CONJUGATION FOR ER/IR IN PRETERITE.
Drop the ER or the IR from the infinitive and add one of the endings to your stem.

Verbs that have a stem-change in the present tense do not have a stem change in the preterite.
~ Example ~Present tense- Me acuesto a las nueve.
