POW-WOWS!

The Pow-wow dance is celebrated in spring. The government told the dancers to come and show there dances. The Pow-wow word means spiritual leader. The Pow-wow dance is danced in a football field or a gym. They wear really fancy dresses and suits, that are very colorful!!!

Medicine wheels

The medicine wheel was made to heal people. It is put in a big circle shaped like a wheel. In native American culture, the medicine wheel represents harmony and connections. It is considered a symbol of peaceful communication among all living beings on earth. A number of stone medicine wheels are spread around the plains of Alberta and the United States.

WHAT FIRST NATIONS CELEBRATE

They celebrate the salmon run. A pow –wow is celebrated almost every week of spring. They celebrate national university day and they get calls each year from family and friends wanting time for a reminder about loved ones, new dancers and to recognize the leaders and to honour the elders and veterans.
