PAT_Ball: TechnologyThe Department of Electronic Engineering of the Universitat de València has developed a new technology for monitoring energy (active, reactive, frecuency, voltage, electric current,…) and ambient variables (temperature, pH, pressure, turbulence, magnetic fields, electric conductivity,…) based on autonomous miniaturized wireless motes.

On top of the wireless motes, system’s architecture contains a hub that analyses data coming from motes and that acts as web server in order to make that information available to any terminal (PC, PLC, mobile phone, tablet,…) thanks to a star network. The Those devices contain a transceiver, a microcontroller, a power supply and the specific sensor to control the target energy / ambient variable.

Those motes contain a transceiver, a microcontroller, a power supply and the specific sensor to control the target energy / ambient variable.

Main advantages of the technology are:• Reduced size and easy to transport in industrial fluids (if

necessary)• Energy autonomous (possible to use industrial equipment

vibration as power supply)• Software for recording, analysis and prediction based on neural

networks• Possibility of integration of multiple ambient sensors• Good resistance to industrial environments• Low cost

They can be integrated into a plug, connected to power panels or even embedded in a sphere that can be carried by the process fluid. The sphere is able to acquire data and download when required.
