Judy Halbert and Linda Kaser lead the Transformative Educational Leadership Program at the University of British Columbia, the Networks of Inquiry and Innovation, and the Aboriginal Enhancement Schools Network.

In addition to working with leadership groups in BC and the Yukon, they collaborate with educators in Wales, Australia, New Zealand and England. They are deeply committed to achieving equity and quality for all learners—and to networking for innovation and improvement both in Canada and abroad. They were Canadian representatives to the OECD international research program on Innovative Learning Environments.

Linda and Judy have served as principals, district leaders, and policy advisors with British Columbia’s Ministry of Education in the areas of innovative leadership, district change, rural education, literacy and Indigenous education.

They are the co-authors of The Spiral Playbook (2017), System Transformation for Equity and Quality (2016), Spirals of Inquiry (2013), Leadership Mindsets: Innovation and Learning in the Transformation of Schools (2009) and with Helen Timperley, A Framework for Transforming Learning in Schools: Innovation and the Spiral of Inquiry (2014).

This workshop is designed for leadership teams interested in making inquiry-informed and innovative practices a way of life in schools and school districts.

Participants will leave prepared to make a difference to your learners by leading inquiry-based and research-informed learning through:

Applying a disciplined and evidence-informed framework for professional inquiry;

Developing knowledge of the key learning principles that are central to innovative learning environments;

Considering the connections between social/emotional learning and physical well-being; and

Understanding how inquiry-based approaches for learners of all ages can build curiosity, motivation and engagement.
