Greetings

I have often been asked for spells. I always reply that the best spell is one you have made up yourself. So the following spells should be used as a guideline. Using the Book of Associations and colours to enhance your spells do not be afraid to modify and change the spells. But if you are a beginner, and would rather “do it by the book”, then feel free and enjoy the spells. I have also included the Thirteen Goals of a practitioner, simple circle openings and closings and ritual. Please note these are not all of my own spells, they are collected from friends and colleagues, you don’t necessarily have to follow them by the letter- mix and match, experiment! It is your intent that is important. Enjoy this Book of Spells. Blessings Be Jackie

BASIC RITUAL

A ritual is something that takes you out of the every day. It gives your life a new dimension. It gives you space and time to sit and think, or to sit and just ‘be’. It is a place you can take your troubles to and sort them out. It is a place to cry, to laugh, to comfort and not to have to answer to anyone. A ritual can also be a passage, moving from one stage of life to another, naming a child, marriage, all sorts of things. But you are just beginning. You are shaping your belief, your way of living. So we start at the beginning. There are simple rules to remember:

If your intention is good, you cannot get into trouble.

Yes, there are evils in the world. You hear of psychics and mystics ‘protecting’ themselves.

It is a good personal habit to get into to. Always remember if your heart is true,

If you are working for good, Then you will be looked after,

The Goddess looks after her own. Be careful what you ask for – you just might get it

When we get more into basic magick, then you have to be a little careful, You sometimes get what you want, but not how you think you will get it!

Whatever you give out, you get back three times three

A good ethic to live by is the three times rule

GETTING YOU STUFF TOGETHER

Firstly we have to make ourselves ready. Make sure the phone is off, that you will not be disturbed (it’s amazing how grumpy we get if we are disturbed during ritual), Lock the doors. For your altar you will need to have: • Some flowers, or herbs, some sort of fresh greenery • A candle, or candles • Incense charcoal and powders, OR incense cones/sticks • A glass of wine, grapejuice or fruit juice (NOT a marmite jar – use your best glasses

or the Marmite jar if that is all you have) • A glass of water • A bread roll, or croissant, or a slice of toast bread • Fruit or biscuit • Some oils or herbs for your bath • A pretty dress, sarong or robe to wear

BATH TIME!!

Ritual Bath! Yep, just got to be clean inside and out. Now this need not be an expensive exercise either. Some nice oils, or tie some lavender and herbs in a square of fabric and drop it in the bath. Light a candle, blue is nice, but anything you have will do. Relax in your bath, wash yourself all over, as you rinse yourself imagine all your cares, troubles, niggles dissolving into the water, wash your hair, behind your ears!!!!!!!!!!! Now pull the plug whilst you are still in the bath, watch the water stream down the plug, imagine all those cares going with the water, right down the plughole. Step out of the bath, dry yourself.

Page 7: Spellweaving” A Book of Shadows - thewyrdsisters.com · A Book of Shadows . 2 I was made from the ninefold elements From fruit trees From paradisiacal fruit From the blossoms of

7

RITUAL CLOTHES

Have ready something nice to wear. NO not trackies and sweatshirt! NO not shorts and Tshirt! We are honouring the Goddess and honouring yourself. It is nice to have a dress or robe, cloak or drape to use for rituals. And it does not have to be expensive. A length of fabulous white material sprinkled with stars (I saw some for $9 a metre the other day – 2m would make a lovely ritual sarong), or blue, multi coloured. But something gorgeous that you feel good in.

So let’s summarize: Now so far, for very little cost – if anything (because you will have many things you can use anyway) you have: An altar decorated how you want to with the things ready for the ritual Things to use in your ritual bath (keep them in a special box) You have had your bath You are dressed comfortably, but you feel fabulous You have put on some lovely oils (you can get divine oils now, or make up your own

perfumes)

So let us approach our altar….. We must first make our “circle”. There are many ways to make your circle. A ‘circle’ is just a sacred space, you are making this time and place yours. It is like booking your seat at the theatre, you are booking time and space. I like to use the elements to secure my space. Some pagans use the Goddess to secure their space, or the moon. As you progress and get used to this lovely pathway, you will find your own words and own special way of securing your space. Here is mine:

Guardians of the North, element of Earth I ask for your wisdom Guardians of the South, element of Fire I ask for faith Guardians of the East, element of Air I ask for creativity Guardians of the West, element of Water I ask for sacredness Protect me in this time and space So Mote It Be

Then you will quietly…. Light a candle for Fire Light incense for Air Take a sip of water for Water Take a bite of bread for Earth Concentrate on each action; think about what you are doing… Do you see the pattern here? Do you see the beginnings of connections? You will find this as you progress, how things go in patterns, and connect.

Sit comfortably by your altar; you are now in your sacred space. This is a first ritual, do not expect MAJOR MAGICK. This is a small magick. A comfortable magick.

Look at the candle flame, imagine being in the flame, it can’t burn you, see the flame

dance – dance with the flame (in your mind, or dance round the room), look at the colours.

What can fire do? It can warm you, cook your food; it can also destroy; it can cleanse. Fire is a wonderful element, it can burn everything and let you start with a clean slate.

 A very powerful element.

Now watch the smoke from your incense, how it curls in the breezes and drafts. It has subtle colours, it disappears and reappears. See how the air manipulates the soft smoke. Air is subtle, breezy, draughty or a

hurricane. It can carry a song, it can carry a whisper It can transport a fragrance or a stench. This is the most subtle of the elements.

Look into the water in the glass. We can’t live in it, but we need it to live. Water is pulled by the gravity of the moon, we are made of water, we are pulled by

the moon. This is an emotional element. You can look into a pool of water and see yourself, or see the future. You can float on it, or sink in it. The rain can be gentle and drizzly, or sleet and hail, or again gentle snow – that can

freeze your very soul.

Earth, look at your flowers, the earth nurtured them. Your bread – the very grains grew in the earth, earth is the essential Mother, the

essential Goddess. Look out your window, it is an amazing earth that we live on. Earth is the dirt outside in the garden, the bread we eat, the planet we live on. Now ask the guardians in your own words to bless your altar, to bless your tools and garments, and to help you on your pathway.

Don’t worry about how long this should all take It might take ten minutes It might take an hour, depending on how you feel, how you much time you want to spend. At first you might spend very little time, but as you start to connect with your pathway, you will find you want to spend a little more time.

We are near the end of our ritual Drink some of your wine Eat some bread or fruit you have Enjoy your altar Have a little daydream about the coming week and what you would like to happen Think about what you need to do for yourself Spend some time with yourself.

When you are ready we must CLOSE DOWN, this is important. You must close down the space.

Thank you Guardian of the North for your wisdom Thank you Guardian of the South for your faith Thank you Guardian of the East for creativity And Thank you Guardian of the West for the sacred space. I ask that I take your protection with me until we meet gain Blessed Be

Snuff out the candles, put out the incense, drain the water into the garden or flower vase (NOT DOWN THE SINK), feed the food left to the birds.

Now sit down with your Journal, and write the date, the time, the moon phase (from a calendar or the local newspaper/diary) The things you used (types of flowers/food/drink) Record what you did, thought, how you felt. You will be surprised when you look back at how you change, and how aware you become.

ANOTHER RITUAL The candle-lit room, the wearing of robes and scented incense smoke can transform any ritual area into an area of power. Play soft music to help create atmosphere. Relax and take several deep breaths to centre yourself. Put everything you will need for your altar and spell workings inside the ritual area. Altar Supplies: Everything needed for your specific spells; a chalice of water; salt; pentacle disk; sword/dagger; wand; incense burner with lighted charcoal; incense; 1 or 2 altar candles for light; 4 element candles. Note: That in casting the Circle it is acceptable to use a dagger, sword, or the forefinger of your power hand. While you are drawing the circle, say: I concentrate this circle of power to the Ancient Gods. Here may they manifest and bless their child. Move back to the altar, facing east. Raise your dagger or wand in greeting, Say: This is a time that is not a time, In a place that is not a place, On a day that is not a day. I stand on the threshold between the worlds, before the veil of the mysteries. May the Ancient Ones help and protect me on my magical journey. Set the water chalice on the pentacle. Hold your dagger over it and Say: Great Mother, bless this creature of water to your service. May I always remember the cauldron waters of rebirth. Hold your dagger over the salt, Say: Great Mother, bless this creature of Earth into your service. May I always remember the blessed Earth, It’s many forms and beings.

12

Sprinkle a little salt into the water, then hold the chalice up high. Say: Great Mother, I give you honour! Beginning in the East and moving clockwise, sprinkle the water salt mixture lightly around the edges of the circle. Replace the chalice on the altar. Hold your dagger over the lighted incense burner, Say: Great Father, bless this creature of fire into your service. May I always remember the sacred fire those dances within the form of every creation. Hold your dagger over the incense, saying: Great Father, bless this creature of air into your service. May I always listen to the spirit winds that bring me the voices of the ancient ones. Put a little incense on the lighted charcoal. (Don't put too much!) Using attached chains, touch the burner briefly to the pentacle disk, and then raise it high saying: Great Father, I give you honour! Carry the burner around the circle clockwise, beginning in the East. Return it to the altar. Go to the eastern quarter of the circle. Light the Red (Yellow) candle and hold your hand up in greeting. (You may also salute the element with your dagger, sword, or wand): I call upon you, powers of Air, to witness this rite and to guard this circle. In the southern quarter light the White (Red) Candle and greet the element: I call upon you, powers of Fire, to witness this rite and to guard this circle. Move to the west; light the grey (Blue) candle and hold up your hand in greeting: I call upon you, powers of Water, to witness this rite and to guard this circle. End by going north; Light the black (green) candle and greet the element: I call upon you, powers of Earth, to witness this rite and to guard this circle. Move back to the central altar, and stand facing east. Raise your arms in greeting: This circle is bound, With power all around, Between the worlds, I stand with protection at hand.

Proceed with your planned spellwork ceremony.... (To close the circle at the end, perform this AFTER every ritual) When everything is completed, hold your hand or dagger over the altar and say: By the powers of the Ancient Gods, I bind all power within this circle into this spell. So mote it be! When you are ready to end the ritual, go to the East and extinguish the Red(Yellow) Candle. Say: Depart in peace, O powers of Air. My thanks and blessings. Go to the South and extinguish the White(Red) candle. Say: Depart in peace, O powers of Fire. My thanks and Blessings. Go to the West and put out the grey (Blue) candle. Say: Depart in peace, O powers of Water. My thanks and blessings. Finish by going to the north and put out the Black (Green) candle. Say: Depart in peace, O powers of Earth. My thanks and blessings. Return to the altar in the centre and say: To all beings and powers of the visible and invisible, Depart in peace. May there always be harmony between us. My thanks and blessings. Cut the circle counter clockwise with your dagger/sword to release all remaining traces of power for manifestation. Say: The circle is open, yet ever it remains a circle. Around and through me always flows its magical power. Put away all magical tools and clear the altar. Leave any candles or objects, which must remain to either burn or be empowered for a stated period of time. Remember never leave a burning candle unattended.

Consecration of an Amulet

Pass the bag through the rising smoke of a candle and/or incense appropriate to your amulet and say as you do so:

"By the four ancient elements, I do consecrate this amulet

and dedicate it as a tool of positive wiccan magick."

Now consecrate it to the four-elemental/directional spirits, saying:

"Ancient gods of the air, and all elemental spirits of the east, let this amulet now be charged with the mystical energy

of your divine white light."

"Ancient gods of the fire, and all elemental spirits of the south, let this amulet now be charged with the mystical energy

of your divine white light." "Ancient gods of the water, and all elemental spirits of the west,

let this amulet now be charged with the mystical energy of your divine white light."

"Ancient gods of the earth, and all elemental spirits of the north,

let this amulet now be charged with the mystical energy of your divine white light."

Finish off by blessing the goddess by saying something like:

"Blessed be in the name of the goddess and in the name of her consort.

So mote it be."

Your amulet will then be charged and able to be worn as required by the specific spell

Spell for a broken heart:

Place dried rose buds (not open ones), lavender, and jasmine, into a red or purple silk or cotton pouch. Tie it with a matching ribbon and while passing it through

the smoke of some love/aphrodisiac incense say: "pouch of mine

lovers hearts entwine no more

Heal my heart For we now part

goodbye The pain I feel I need to heal

be well"

To attract love

To attract love, use red or pink flannel or chamois for a bag. Place herbs inside (catnip, mugwort, yarrow, rosemary, cinnamon etc.), as well as a heart-shaped piece of sun-dried lemon peel, a piece of red or pink coral, a lock of your own hair.

Consecrate the amulet by lighting a red, pink, or white candle and chanting a

consecration spell. You can use your own or the one listed below this.

This will charge your amulet. Wear it on a white string or a gold chain around your neck. To keep the amulet charged, you should anoint the bag on Friday

evenings using three drops of pink champagne, rose oil, or patchouli.

TAROT LOVE SPELL

This is a spell to attract romance in your life. It might not bring the single person you want to you, but it will in general increase your attractiveness to potential mates and will increase your attraction towards other people. You will need three cards for this spell as well as at least three red candles (thirteen is best, but I've never had enough... sometimes I'll use three and substitute a white for purity, psychic power and truth in for one of the red... ) a piece of red cloth to lay the cards down and any stones or flowers you feel are appropriate. The three cards you need vary from spell to spell. As a standard you use the Star (or equivalent in your deck) for powerful unseen forces and fate, The knight of cups, representing a man or a woman who involves you in an affair, your "knight in shining armour" If you are looking for a woman and this ideal does not sit well with you, you could easily use the empress, the high priestess or any of the queens you like the best. Basically, you want to find one of the face cards which you feel would make an appropriate mate for you. The last card you use, of course, is the Lovers. You are going to place these three cards in that order going diagonally down. (the star being at the highest left position and the lovers being at the lowest right position) This spell should always be performed right before going to bed... and it's usually best if you perform some sort of ritual cleansing before casting. Lay the cloth out and put the Star down. Light the first candle while making an affirmation towards the good spirits and forces. I usually say something like "I call upon all good spirits. I call upon the goddess; I call upon the wide-ruling powers. Make smooth the way that my love may be brought to me." Think about why you are casting this spell before you move on to the next card. Lay down the knight of cups (or whichever card you've chosen), light the second candle and think about what you desire in a partner.

Page 18: Spellweaving” A Book of Shadows - thewyrdsisters.com · A Book of Shadows . 2 I was made from the ninefold elements From fruit trees From paradisiacal fruit From the blossoms of

18

Lay the third card down, light the third candle, and think about what it would be like with a partner of your dreams. Take the remainder of the candles (if you have them, if not, skip this step) and make a circle around the cards. Light them as you say an affirmation. This is what I usually say: "I call for love and it comes to me guided by the light of my flames whether it be from far or near Love is drawn to me. I give love, I receive love. As I desire, so I have love and so it shall be." Now blow out the candles. Wrap the cards separately from the deck and leave them that way as you sleep. Daydream before you drift into sleep about love. If you believe in what you're doing, something will most certainly come from it.

JUST OLD FASHIONED LOVE SPELLS

THE MOST IMPORTANT LOVE SPELL: If you are not open to love, no love spell can work. You may want to do this spell as preparation for any other love spell you do. In fact, this spell to make yourself open to love might be the only love spell you will ever need. Look inside yourself: is there something in you that blocks love? For instance, do you feel you don’t deserve love? Or perhaps you think that no one could ever love YOU? Or maybe you think you are too fat, or too thin? Maybe you are afraid to ask someone out on a date? Whatever the negative belief, fear or other internal block is, get in touch with it, then use soap and water to wash it away. Actually put your hands in water and wash them as a way to get rid of your block to love! THE PATH OF LOVE. If you feel the need to do more than the above spell get five red roses. Go to the corner a short walk from your house and drop one rose. Drop three more on the way back home. Drop the fifth at your door. While you do all this chant out loud or silently, “This is a path of love. My true love will find me.” You have given your true love a path by which to find you!

PROUD AS A PEACOCK. Maybe this is more your style. Wear a peacock feather or some emblem of the peacock. For instance, cut off the decorative end of a peacock feather and pin it to your lapel instead of a rose, or wear earrings shaped like peacocks. Look in the mirror and repeat as many times as you want, “I am spreading my tail feathers”. Leave the house and see what happens. This is NOT a spell to make anyone see you the way you want him or her to see you. This is like a peacock spreading his tail to court, but on a psychic level.

Protection - keeping you safe from harm

This spell is most effective when done a day after the full moon. Take a piece of silk, some silk thread (if available) in green or pink, some herbs of the following kind (but you don't need all): Juniper, Mugwort, Rosemary, Basil, Horehound,

Trefoil, St. John's Wort, Vervain, Mandrake and one acorn or a twig of oak or a twig or rowan

Prepare your altar. Draw a bath to the temperature you prefer. In this bath, use some purification, exorcism or dragon's blood bath salts. While you bathe, feel the protection water gives begin to seep into yourself. Then feel the protection earth gives through the salts seep into your very bones. When finished the bath, dry yourself and anoint yourself with some oil containing rosemary, geranium, or frankincense. Light a charcoal briquette and burn as incense some frankincense, myrrh, or dragon's blood. While the smoke curls, create the sachet! Place the herbs in the cloth and sew the sides together as best as you can to prevent the substance leaking. Now while you sew it together, chant out loud or silently "I bind this charm to protect me well". Once done, face each direction and say "Element of the empower my charm to protect me against all harm." Then when you return to the east say "I have created this charm to protect me against all harm. Its power has been created and now let it's work be done.". Now keep this charm on you at all times!

RELEASING SPELL

This is for releasing. Many times we will not attempt things, magickal or not because of certain fears, or we have problems that have plagued us for years because we simply refuse to let them go. My Reiki Master calls this technique Letting Go. Here is the body of what you must do: 1) Find a sacred place, somewhere quiet, rustic (preferably outdoors), where you will not be disturbed for a long period of time. 2) Take the following items with you: candles (white and black), incense (sandalwood works great, as does sage), food and drink (something light like fruit and water, or bread and cheese and water), altar items of personal choice, cleansing and consecrating tools. 3) Once at you sacred space, cleanse and consecrate the space then cast a circle. 4) Within the circle, light both the white and black candle, the white on the left, black on the right, and the incense. Sit comfortably in the centre of the circle. 5) Begin by doing a breathing exercise, inhaling slowly, exhaling slowly, and do this till you feel your body relaxing and centring itself. 6) Some questions to ask yourself are: What are my fears? What can I not let go of and why? Do I fear FEAR itself, if so, can i release it as well? What do I wish to accomplish here today/night? 7) Once you have defined what your intent is, begin focusing on that intent being absolved. Absolution of something is not always the end of it. TO make this final, there is a chant one can do to their god/ess of choice.

Page 22: Spellweaving” A Book of Shadows - thewyrdsisters.com · A Book of Shadows . 2 I was made from the ninefold elements From fruit trees From paradisiacal fruit From the blossoms of

22

It is as follows: O _______(deity of choice), I come to thee and ask that you accept this ________(whatever intent you are releasing). Do with it what you will. I know longer have need of it. It is no longer important to me. I can let it go. So mote it be. Chant this three times. Each time feeling the intended releasing from your body more and more. After the third time, continue to remain in your meditative state for as long as you feel necessary. Focus on your deity dispersing that which you released. Feel it being destroyed and never allowed to return to you. Our reward for this release is AWE. Everything we send out comes back to us. This will come back as AWE.

Isn’t that AWESOME???!!!!???

Once finished, you can eat and drink, keeping in mind that the gods have helped you this day, so offers them some of your food and drink. Once eaten, close your circle and leave the sacred spot. Come back to it often, whenever there is something else that needs to be released.

BANISHING

To be performed on the waning moon. Tools: cauldron, black or white candle, basil and garlic, paper & black ink pen, black cord. Cast the circle, invoke the God & Goddess, and state your purpose (i.e. I am here to banish the negativity I feel within me. Right now, the hurt that (name) has caused me is impacting my life, and I ask for the God and Goddess to assist me in banishing these negative influences and eliminating their destructiveness.)

Consecrate the cauldron by sprinkling with salt & water, and reciting "In the name of the Lord and Lady, I charge you to serve me within this circle. I clear you of all former influences and energies in order that you may be fit for the workings of the Magick herein." Do the same with the candle. On a piece of paper, write the full name of the person, and the associated negative feelings that they cause in you. Roll up and tie with black string. Sprinkle with salt and water and recite: "Thou creature of paper, by paper made, by paper changed. Thou art not paper, but thou art negative influences caused to me. Take flight now, so mote it be."

Light the black candle. Burn the paper in the candle, visualizing all negative power over you vanishing in the flames and rising out of your world with the smoke. Sprinkle basil & garlic (for protection) over the flames and recite: "Blazing force of cleansing fire, help me in this rite. By air and earth, water and fire, So you be bound with this rite. Your power takes flight, sky and sea, cleanse me and keep harm from me. Cord go round, power be bound, your negativity will no longer come my way. From hence forth, your power over me be banished. So mote it be!" Let the paper burn itself out while visualizing yourself healthy, whole and healed.

Close the circle, thank the Guardians for their protection.

BANISH BAD HABIT

A Simple Spell for the Waning Moon to rid yourself of an unwanted habit. Begin this working any time during the waning moon. Set aside thirty minutes each day to focus yourself and perform this working. The components of this working have been selected for their attributes in several areas such as healing, purification and memory enhancement. This spell is performed over a period of three nights.

Components:

A quiet space 3 candles - one for each night tapers or votives: choose your colour: popular choices would include black for banishing the habit, orange for change, red for courage, white for general use, etc. Salt - sea salt or other available salt, about 1 Tablespoon Rosemary Parchment - or a small piece of quality paper about 4" X 4" Your favorite writing instrument for rituals A small cloth pouch or bag this can be any colour and you could match it to the colour you choose for your candles. Frankincense resin - about 1 Tablespoon A cauldron, or heat proof dish with a small amount of sand or gravel placed in the bottom Three charcoals - the type used for incense, not the kind used for outdoor barbeques which contain toxins.

Arrange all of the spell components near you - don't forget to bring something to light the candle and charcoal with and make sure that the incense won't trip your smoke detector! What a shock that would be to your focus! Light the charcoal and place it in the censor. Sit quietly for a few minutes to focus on what you desire to achieve with this working. You may choose to erect a "circle of protection" or "circle of power" at this time if that is your standard procedure.

Using your favourite writing instrument and the parchment, write down a few key words that describe the habit you wish to rid yourself of. Here are some examples:

If you wish to release your anger or frustration about a current situation, so you could write something like: "I will not let this get to me, I hereby set my anger free". If you wish to release yourself from eating sugary snacks each afternoon, you might draw a picture of a piece of chocolate with an X over it. This is the time to use your creativity and make the working an extension of your energy by personalizing it. Your words do not have to rhyme, your picture does not have to be artistically rendered, and it does not have to make sense to anyone else but you.

Light one of the three candles, and re-focus your intent. While you are lighting the candle you may choose to say your favourite words for Fire blessing or something like, "The Fire within me is strong. I have the courage and desire to change." Place the parchment in the cloth pouch.

Place the Rosemary and Frankincense in the pouch while keeping your focus on your intent. Turn the pouch over several times to mix everything, then reach in and remove a large pinch of the resin and herb mixture (not the parchment). Place the mixture you removed on the charcoal to burn and take several deep, steady breaths. You may wish to say your favourite words for Air blessing or something like, "With each breath, I know that I can change."

Add the Salt to the pouch. Keep focusing on your intent. Again, you may choose to say your favourite words for Earth blessing or something like, "I have the strength of the Earth. I have the will to change."

Sit quietly for a few more minutes and consider different ways you help yourself to alter your behaviour. You will find that many new ideas will arise in your mind that you previously had not thought of. Allow the candle to burn down in a safe place and keep the pouch with you. You can place it under your pillow or at your bedside while you sleep.

On the second night of the spell, light another charcoal and place it in the censor. Light the next candle. Hold the cloth pouch in both hands and take several deep, slow breaths. Focus your intent to alter your behaviour. Try to keep your focus for as long as possible. If you were not perfect in changing your behaviour since last night, do not feel guilty or frustrated. Change takes time and the spell isn't over until the habit is transformed.

Reach into the pouch and remove a large pinch of the herb, resin, and salt mixture. Place it on the burning charcoal. At this time you may wish to confirm your intent by saying something like, "As I will it, so mote it be!" or "So be it!" Let the candle burn down in a safe place.

On the third night. Light the last candle and the last charcoal. Repeat the procedure from the second night except this time, remove the remainder of the resin, herb & salt mixture, AND the parchment from the pouch. Place the mixture and the parchment on the charcoal. Set the pouch aside and focus on your intent while you watch your parchment/mixture burn. You may wish to help the parchment along by touching it to the candle flame and then dropping it into the censor. Again, you may wish to confirm your intent by saying something like, "It is so!" or "So mote it be!" A complex working, that takes focus and concentration, but well worth it.

An All-Purpose Candle Spell

This is a quick, uncomplicated ritual designed to be used for all positive purposes. You'll need one candle of the appropriate colour, one holder, and

matches. When you're ready to begin, hold the candle between the palms of your hands.

Breathe deeply. Visualize your goal.

Push personal, programmed power into the candle between your hands. Feel the energy streaming into it.

Say appropriate words if you wish simply stating what you need to occur.

Place the candle in its holder.

Strike a match above the candle and draw down the flame toward the candle. Light the wick.

Put the still-flaming match into a heat-proof container (or extinguish its flame

with a quick flip of the wrist).

Hold your hands around the candle's flame. Feel the energy. Visualize strongly. Leave the area. Let the candle do its work.

"Healing Flames" spell.

Draw a picture of yourself with the negative thoughts affecting you (could be a black cloud, or your own interpretation of how they are affecting you). Charge a red candle with healing energy, light it, and hold the tip of the picture in the flame. After it's lit, drop it into the cauldron. Now, with the red candle still burning, draw another picture of yourself without the negativity. Place this

under the red candle and let the candle burn out. You are done.

Walk in peace and mindfulness.

Spell For Internal Well-Being

1. Obtain a vial (about 100mL) of water from a steadily flowing river and put aside. 2. Light two blue candles and place at the north and south points of a circle. 3. Light two white candles and place at the east and west points of the same circle. 4. Scatter freshly picked lavender and crushed leaves of an iceberg rose evenly around the perimeter of the circle and sit within it, facing the north point. 5. Cross arms loosely over the chest and focus your awareness on the breath entering your body and slowly spreading through it. 6. Return your focus slowly to your environment and extinguish the candles using the river water, kneeling before each as you do so, in the order north-west-east-south.

Scrying

Scrying can be done with a number of different surfaces, from tealeaves to crystal balls to shag carpets; the basic technique is similar in all cases. Gaze

steadily into the scrying surface (feel free to blink or allow your point of focus to wander a bit; this is not a method of self-inflicted torture). Eventually, you should be able to pick out shapes or images in the scrying surface; these may appear as crude sketches, or occasionally with the clarity of a photograph. You

will actually see these images with your eyes.

Once this happens, images may begin to form in your mind, no longer projected onto the scrying surface. When this happens, allow your attention to focus on

these mental images. From this point forward, the scrying surface is irrelevant; do not be distracted by it.

As the images become clearer, you will find that you know things about what you are seeing background information will come to the surface of your mind. Pay

attention to what you know about the images you are seeing.

Surfaces, which provide a random, high contrast visual texture, such as black tea leaves in a white cup or orange sparks in a black ember, are particularly good for the first stage of the scrying process. However, the vividness of the visual images formed in this way may tend to pull your attention back from the purely

mental images that should follow, thus disrupting the natural flow of ideas. Smooth, neutral surfaces, like the surface of a dish of water, a crystal ball, or a black mirror, provide relatively few visual cues to get you started, but if you can make the transition to mental imagery quickly, the visual surface will obligingly

fade into the background.

Scrying exercise Cast a circle. Seat yourself comfortably, breathe deeply a few times to relax and centre yourself. Gaze into the scrying surface for a while. Write down:

What you saw; what images came to mind; what you found you knew about the images.

SPELL FOR HOLDING AND KEEPING LOCKED DOORS SHUT

You need to start by meditating before hand on the effect of the spell for at least 15 minutes. Then, to cast, you sprinkle water mixed with salt and sage; stand in front of the door that you want to keep locked, then place your hands on the door and concentrate your energies going down your right arm, going through the door and back into your left arm. Then you start chanting:

Portal be mine, Become one with my mind, I hold thee fast, to make to last, open you not, as I weave the knot, of my power from within.

Keep chanting this as you build up power, and imagine the circle of energy (right arm through door back into left arm) getting faster and faster. Then upon release, visualize a green field of energy coming up in front of the door.

Amulet for Getting a Job

To help your chances, fill a green flannel bag with gravel root on a night when the moon is waxing or is in the sign of Virgo or Capricorn.

Pass the bag through the rising smoke of a candle and/or incense (use a green or

gold candle and any of the following herbs as a scent/incense: acacia, alfalfa, almond, basil, clover, comfrey, dragon's blood, fenugreek, and lavender. Saying:

"By the four ancient elements I do consecrate this amulet

and dedicate it as a tool of positive Wiccan magick."

Now consecrate it to the four elemental/directional spirits, saying:

"Ancient gods of the air, earth, fire and water and all

elemental spirits of the universe, let this amulet now be charged

with the mystical energy of your divine white light."

If you have tools to represent the elements and hold the bag up to the

different directions you are praying to, it is a good idea but not necessary.

Finish off by blessing the goddess by saying something like:

"Blessed be in the name of the goddess and in the name of her consort.

So mote it be."

Make sure you have it with you whenever you go on a job interview or fill out an application.

Prosperity Spell

The tools you will need are: Protection Incense (herbs or oils work fine also), Green Candle, Pen, Paper,

Heat-resistant bowl

It is best to find a work area that you can leave untouched for three days. If you must put away your tools, try to at least keep your spell candle out in the

open. This spell is used to create tangible prosperity. Read over this spell and customize it prior to use-the work will go much smoother. Prepare your work area by setting up any tools you may use in addition to your spell candle. While setting up your area, CONCENTRATE on the purpose of your work. Envision what it is that will make you prosperous. For this spells’ purpose, we will use money as an example. Just prior to your work, bathe in purification herbs, or with your favourite bath salts. While you are bathing, concentrate again on the purpose of your spell. Do not let negative thoughts enter your mind. After bathing, go to your work area. Cast a circle and light some protection incense. Envision a large, green ball of light surrounding you and your work area. Hold the candle between the palms of your hands and direct all of your energy into the candle. On a small piece of paper, write down what it is that you want (money, etc.). Place this piece of paper under the candleholder. Place the candle in its candleholder. Prior to lighting the candle, say (either aloud, or to yourself): “This candle represents the prosperity that will come to me” Light the candle and say (either aloud or to yourself): “As the light of this flame grows, I can see prosperity around me.“

Sit back and watch the candle burn. Envision what you will look like and feel like when your prosperity comes. See yourself holding the money, feel the texture of it. When the candle had burned 1/3 of the way, say: “As the flame of the candle dissipates with time-prosperity will be mine” and blow out the candle.

Repeat this for two more nights. On the last night, burn the piece of paper with your written words on it and place the ashes into a bowl. After the candle has burned away and the leftover wax has cooled-, combine the ashes and wax together and bury it in the earth as close to your home as possible. Prosperity will be yours!

To Rid Yourself of Negatives

BEST TIME - Waning Moon; Set an empty cauldron or goblet on your altar between 2-lit white candles. Burn good protection or blessings incense. Robe yourself, preferably in white, and stand or sit before the altar. Breathe slowly and evenly until you are calm and cantered. Take the cauldron or goblet in both hands; hold high over the altar in salute to the gods. Lower to chest level and slowly breathe into the cauldron, silently naming each habit, person or experience you wish removed from your life. When finished, turn the cauldron or goblet upside down on the altar, saying: The Contents of this vessel, I give to thee, Great Ones. Exchange these experiences for better. Place an offering of herbs and milk outside. Or at least burn the herbs in your censer.

A Wish Spell to Diana

This spell should never be used more than three times between new moons.

While gazing at the moon, repeat: "Moon, Moon, beautiful Moon, brighter than any star, Goddess of light and love, Diana if it might be, pray bring

fortune to me."

A sign that your wish spell has been successful would be the number of coins in your purse or pocket doubling, or seeing a hare before dawn. Be assured that you will not have success with this wish spell if it is done

with evil intent.

House Blessing

Assemble a candle, incense, a dish of water, a dish of salt, and bless them. Open all the doors and windows in the house. Take up the salt, and walk around the

house clockwise, going clockwise through each and every room. Throw a pinch of salt into each corner, and through each doorway and out each window. As you toss it, see it burning away negativity. Repeat as you go, several times in each room, "By the power of the salt, I cleanse this house." Next, light the incense,

and again walk clockwise around the house, censing every corner, and sending the smoke through each doorway, and each open window. See it blowing away all of the negativity in the house. Repeat as you go, several times in each room, "By the power of air, I cleanse this house." Repeat the process, this time with the

candle, making sure to shine the light in each corner, and through each doorway, and each open window. Repeat as you go, "By the power of fire, I cleanse this

house." Lastly, take up the bowl of water, and repeat your process through the house, sprinkling the water in each corner, through each open door, and each

open window. This time repeat "By the power of water, I cleanse this house." as you go, several times in each room.

When you have finished, pause, and walk through the newly cleansed house,

feeling the energy carefully. If the cleansing needs repeating, do so, but rarely will it need to be done a second time.

Note: Sage makes excellent incense for a cleansing.
