Die GP2 Serie | The GP2 Series

Die GP2-Serie hat primär den Zweck, Rennsport für die Teams erschwinglich zu machen und gleichzeitig eine perfek-te Trainingsgrundlage für die Formel 1 zu schaffen. Wie in jedem Formelsport ist auch in der GP2 die Leistungsfähig-keit der Fahrzeuge durch technische Regeln («Formeln») in bestimmten Be-reichen festgelegt, um für die Wettbe-werber annähernd gleiche Bedingungen zu schaffen.Die GP2-Events sind offizielle Sup-port-Rennen an Formel 1-Wochenenden. Dies hat für die GP2 viele Vorteile: Die Serie profitiert vom Scheinwerferlicht der Formel 1, die Fahrer gewinnen Erfah-rung im Grand-Prix-Umfeld und die ge-samte Infrastruktur der Formel 1-Events (Steckenposten, medizinische Versor-gung etc.) kann mitbenutzt werden.

The GP2 Series is designed to make racing affordable for the teams and to make it the perfect training ground for life in Formula One. GP2 has made it mandatory for all of the teams to use the same chassis, engine and tyre supplier so that true driver ability is reflected.Most races take place as the official sup-port races at Formula One race week-ends to boost the series profile, to give drivers experience on the Grand Prix environment, and to take advantage of the infrastructure (marshalls, medical facilities etc) in place for a Formula One event.
