• Spectraisintendedforinteriorinstallationsonly,suitableforbelow-grade,on-gradeandabove-gradeinstallations,butshouldnotbeinstalledwheretheapplicationssubstrateisexposedtoweatherelements.

• Asafloatingfloor,itshouldbeallowedtoexpandandcontractfreely.PermanentfixturesmustbeinstalledpriortoinstallationofSpectra.

Spectraundergoastrictqualitycontrolprocedurethatguaranteeshigh-qualitystandards.If,contrarytoallexpectations,materialproblemsshouldbeidentifiedonsite,thesearetobenotifiedbeforecuttingtosizeandlaying.Claimsforobviousdefects(e.g.colourvariations,differencesinthicknesses,surfacedefects,insufficientaccuracyoffitetc.)cannotbeacceptedafterinstallation.Ifanumberofpackagesofdesignflooringarebeingusedthecontentsshouldbecheckedforbatch-to-batchvariationbeforecuttingandlaying.Whenorderingitisimperativethatreferencebemadetotheneedforadeliveryfromonedyelottoinsurecolourconsistency.

ü Thebuildingshouldbeclosedinwithalloutsidedoorsandwindowsinplace.ü Allconcrete,masonry,framingmembers,drywall,paintandother“wet”workshouldbe

thoroughlydry.ü Basementsandcrawlspacesmustbedryandwellventilated.(Crawlspacemustbeaminimum

of24”(600mm)fromthegroundtoundersideofjoists.Agroundcoverof6-8milblackpolyethylenefilmsisessentialasavaporbarrierwithjointslappedsixinchesandtaped.Thecrawlspaceshouldhaveperimeterventingtoaminimumof1.5%ofthecrawlspacesquarefootage.Theseventsshouldbeproperlylocatedtofostercrossventilation).

SUITABLESURFACESLightlytexturedorporoussurfaces,well-bondedsheetvinyl,vinylorceramictile,embossedsurfacesorgroutlinesmaytelegraphthru,sothesemustbefilledwithanappropriatePortlandbasedlevellingcompound.Allstructurallysoundsolidwoodfloors,plywoodsubstratesetc.shouldbetestedformoistureusingamoisturemeterandlevelsmustnotexceed14%MC.Dry,clean,wellsetconcrete,curedforatleast90daysprior,shouldalsobemoisturetestedandmustnotexceed4%MC.Ifitisfoundtoexceedthislevel,asuitableliquiddampproofmembraneisrecommended.SpectraResilientvinylmaybeinstalledoverradiantheatedfloors(Surfacetemperaturemustneverexceedorsustain27°Candnevercomeintodirectcontactwiththeheatsource)Spectraresilientvinylmaybeinstalledonallgradelevelsincludingbasements.AlthoughSpectraiswaterresistant,moistureissuesmustbeidentifiedandcorrectedpriortoanyinstallationtoavoidmoldorodourInadditionanytracesofglueorresiduefromthepreviousflooringmustberemovedorasuitablelevellingcompoundusedtoactasamembranebetweentheSpectravinylandtheresidue.UNSUITABLESURFACESRough,heavytexturedorunevensurfacesmaytelegraphthroughthevinylanddistortthefinishedsurface.Thisproductisnotsuitableinroomsthatcouldpotentiallyhavedampconcrete,suchassaunasandwetrooms.Donotinstallthisproductinareas,whichareexposedtolong-termdirectsunlightand/orextremetemperaturechanges.Donotuseanunderlaywiththisproductunlessithasbeenapprovedbytheflooringmanufacturer.INSTALLATIONIMPLIESACCEPTANCEPREPARATION

• Thevinylplanksshouldbeallowedtoacclimatiseatroomtemperatureapprox.18-21°Cfor48hourspriortoinstallation(Excessivecoldorheatcanaffectthesizeofindividualplanks).

Allnewconcretefloorsneedtodryoutforatleast90dayspriortoinstallation.Woodplankfloorsrequireasuitablethicknessplywoodsurfaceandallnailheadsorfastenersmustbeadjustedbelowthesubfloorsurface(bewareofpipesunderthesubfloor).Securelyfastenallloosesubfloorstoremovesqueaksanddeflection.Ifthesub-floorisuneven3mm+/-withinaspanof1.2m,plane,sand,orfillunevenboards,holesorcracksusingfloor-levelingcompound.Ifinstallingoverexistingtiles,useafloor-levelingcompoundtoskimcoatgroutlines.Makesurethefloorissmooth,cleanandfreeofwax,grease,oilordustandsealedasnecessarybeforelayingplanks.TOOLSREQUIERED

Utilityknife,spacers,pencil,tapemeasure,setsquare,handsaw,kneepadsandsafetygoggles.GETTINGSTARTEDDeterminethedirectionthattheflooringwillbeinstalled.Installationparalleltothelongestwallisrecommendedforbestvisualeffects.Undercutalldoorjamsbyturningaplankupsidedownandusingahandsawtocutawaythenecessaryheightsothatplanksslideeasilyundertheframes.Removeanyexistingbase,quarterround,shoemoldinganddoorthresholds.Sweepingandvacuumingtoremoveanydebrisasyougo.Floorshouldbeinstalledfromalternatecartonsatthesametimetoinsureagoodcolorandshadebalance.Beforestartingdeterminethewidthofthelastrowofplanks,iflessthan50mm,trimthewidthofyourstartingrowofplankstocentertheboardsintheroom.Beattentivetostaggeringtheendsofthevinylplanksaminimumof400mmforamorefavorableoverallappearanceofthefloor.INSTALLATION

• Donotusewetspraymicrofibermops.• Neverusewax,polish,vinegar,abrasivecleanersorscouringagentsastheymaydullordistort

thefinish.• Highheelscandamagefloors.• Useprotectivepadsunderallfurniture.• Useexteriordoormatsatallentrancewaystokeepdirtandmoisturefrombeingtrackedin.

Avoidtheuseofinteriorrubber,foamorplasticbackmatsastheymaydiscolorthefloor.Topreventslippageorarearugsuseanapprovedrugunderlayfromareputablemanufacturer.
