ultimatelyresponsiblefortheapprovaloftheregulationsandchangesthereto,andresponsibleforpublishingtheregulationsviatheCAMSManualandassociatedbulletinsasnecessary.

1. GENERAL Eachautomobilemustconformwiththe“GeneralRequirementsforCarsandDrivers”intheCAMSManualof
MotorSportandtheseregulations.EachautomobilemustalsobethesubjectofacurrentCertificateofOrigin,issuedbyFFA.
2. ELIGIBILITY2.1 General: FormulaFordisopentosingle-seatercarswithopencoachworkasdefinedbyCAMS,usingastandard
1600ccDuratecenginedescribedinArticle4belowandcomplyingwithSchedulesA,BandC(referto“GeneralRequirementsforCarsandDrivers”intheCAMSManualofMotorSport)andthespecificationsfor1stCategory–RacingCars,aspublishedintheCAMSManualofMotorSport.
2.2 Racing Weight:Theminimumracingweightatanytime,includingthedriverwithhelmetandwearingallapparel(eg,asattheendofaraceorpractice)shallbe495kgasrecordedonthescalesatthecircuitonthedayofthemeeting.Anyballastwhichiscarriedmustbesecurelyfixed(ie,welded,rivetedorbolted)andlocatedinapositionabletobereadilychecked.
2.3 Year of Manufacture: Onlychassismanufacturedafter1January2001(identifiedwithamanufacturer’schassisplateconfirmingthedateofconstruction)andcomplyingwithScheduleJ–SafetyCageStructures(see“GeneralRequirementsforCarsandDrivers”intheCAMSManualofMotorSport),areeligibletobefittedwiththeDuratecengine.
2.4 Standard Components: AllstandardcomponentsandsettingsmustremainassuppliedbyFordMotorCo.unlesstheseregulationsstateotherwise.
3. CHASSIS3.1 Composite Materials: Theuseofstabilised/compositematerialsincorporatingcarbonand/orKevlar®
reinforcementisprohibitedSAVEwherespecificallyauthorised.3.2 Chassis Construction: Thechassismustbeoftubularsteelconstructionwithnostress-bearingpanelsexcept
bulkheadsandundertray.Thecurvatureoftheundertraymustnotexceed25mm. Monocoquechassisconstructionisprohibited.Stress-bearingpanelsaredefinedassheetmetalaffixedto
theframebywelding,bondingorrivetsorboltsorscrewswhichhavecentrescloserthan150mm.Bodyworkmustnotbeusedasstress-bearingpanels.
3.3 Lateral Protection Structures: EachFormulaFordchassisisrequiredtobeconstructedtoincorporatealateral

protectionstructureoneachsideofthecarasfollows(referalsotoAppendixA): Alateralprotectionstructureisdefinedasacontinuouspanelwhoseprojectiononaverticalplaneparallel
tothelongitudinalaxisofthecarshallbeatleast150mmhigh,toaminimumdistanceof550mmfromthecar’slongitudinalcentrelinebetweenatleastthetransverseplanespassingthroughthefueltankrearfaceandthefrontalextremityoftheminimumcockpitoverallopeninglength,andataminimumdistanceof350mmfromthecar’slongitudinalcentrelinebetweenatleastthetransversalplanespassingthroughtheaboveextremityandthefrontrolloverbarhoop.
Thelateralprotectionstructuresshallbemadefromacompositematerialof3000mm²minimumcrosssectionwithahoneycombcoreinmetalorNomex©givingadequateresistancetocompression.Theexternalskinsshallbeofaluminiumalloyorplasticofaminimumthicknessof0.5mmormadeupofanotherassemblyofmaterialsofequivalentefficiency.Thepanelsmustbesecurelyattachedtothebottomandattheupperextremitytothemainstructureofthecarinsuchamannerastoensureabsorptionofalateralimpact.
Theradiatorsmayplaytheroleofprotectivepanelsoroftransversalstruts. Theperipheryofthebodyworkcoveringthelateralprotectionstructure,whenviewedfrombelow,mustbe
curvedupwardswithaminimumradiusof50mm,andamaximumradiusof70mmwiththeexceptionofairentryandexitopeningsintothelateralprotectionstructure.Thefloorofthesidepodmustreflecttheplanoftheuppersurface.
Theflooristobeinthesameplaneastheundertrayinbothdirections,ietransverseandlongitudinal,subjecttoallpointsbeingwithin25mmofanyflatplanesituatedunderthecar(see3.2).
3.4 Cockpit Specifications: Eachcarmustcomplywiththefollowing:• theinternalcross-sectionalareaofthecockpitfromthesolesofthedriver’sfeettobehindtheseatshall
nowherebelessthan0.07m².Theminimumwidthmustbe250mmoverthewholelengthofthecockpit.Theonlyintrusionpermittedintothecross-sectionalareaisthesteeringcolumn;
• thedriver’sfeet(innormalposition,pedalsnotdepressed),mustbelocatedbehindatransverseverticalplanedrawnthroughthefrontwheelaxes.
3.5 Tubes within the Cockpit: Noengineoilorwatertubesarepermittedwithinthecockpit.3.6 Impact Absorbing Structure:(a) Eachchassissubjectofalogbookfirstissuedafter1January2008mustincludeanimpact-absorbing
structurefittedaheadofthefrontbulkheadofthetubularsteelframe.Thisstructuremustbeindependentofthemainbodyworkandmustbesolidlyfixedtotheextremitiesofthebulkhead(ie,withboltsrequiringtoolsforremoval).Itmustconstituteaboxof300mmminimumlength,150mmminimumheightinanyverticalsectionand40,000mm²minimumtotalcrosssection.Itmustbemetallicusinghoneycombsandwichconstructionwithaminimumpanelthicknessof13.9mm.Themainbodyworkisdefinedastheexternalcoveringofthechassisframefromtheforemoststeelbulkheadtothecentrelineoftherearwheels.
(b) Theimpact-absorbingstructureshallbefixedtothechassiswithaminimumoffourfasteners,inhighqualitysteelusingacorediameterof6mmminimum.Irrespectiveofthesizeoftheimpactabsorbingstructure(safetyfootbox),themaximumtotalareaofaccessholesallowedinthewallsofthisstructureshallbe15,000mm².
Thebasicstructureisdefinedasaunitwithfiveclosedsidesandoneopenside.Theaccessholedimensionsquotedapplytoanymodificationtothefiveclosedsides.(Minimumclearanceholesforthepassageofsteeringrack/rodsarenotincludedinthecalculationofthisarea.)
3.7 Nose Boxes:Noseboxes/conesmanufacturedinferrousmaterials(eg,steel)areprohibited.3.8 Cockpit Protection: Eachchassissubjectofalogbookfirstissuedafter1January2007shallcomplywiththe
following: AbovetheleveloftheLateralProtectionStructure,anduptotheleveloftheupperchassistube,stretching
fromtherearrollhooptothefrontrollhoop,theremustbeananti-intrusionpanel.Thisanti-intrusionshallbeeitherbuiltintotheremovablebodyworkorkeyedintothemainchassisbutcannotberigidlyattachedtothechassis.Itcanbemadefromglassreinforcedplastic,Kevlar®oraluminiumskinaddedtotheinnerfaceoftheremovablebodypanel.Anymaterialaddedmustconsiderablyimprovetheanti-penetrationcapabilityofthestructureintheareaofthedriver.
Ifthesideprotectionisbuiltintothebodyworkalongsidethedrivertheminimumrequirementisadoublelayer,141.75g/m²(5oz),bi-directional,laminatedKevlar®(Aramide)material.
3.9 Cockpit Opening: Eachchassissubjectofalogbookfirstissuedafter1January2007shallcomplywiththefollowing:
Theopeninggivingaccesstothecockpitmustallowadesignatedhorizontaltemplatetobeinsertedverticallyintothecockpit(notconsideringthesteeringwheel,theremovableseatoranysideheadsupport)downto250mmlowerthanthelowestpointofthecockpitopening.ThistemplateisdefinedbydimensionsJ,KandLintheTableofDimensionsinAppendixA.
3.10 Roll Over Protection: Arollbarisrequiredtobefittedbehindthedriver’shead.Itmustbeconfiguredsothatthetopofthedriver’shelmetis50mmverticallybelowthetopoftherollbar,andatleastbelowalinedrawnfromthetopoftherollhooptothetopofthefrontbulkhead(seepoints1and2onthediagramaccompanyingtheTableofDimensionsinAppendixA).
Therollbarmustbeeither:(a) madefrom38mmx2.5mmcolddrawnseamlesstubingandcomplywiththeconfigurationshownasType1;
or(b) analternativedesigncapableofwithstandingaverticalloadof36.4kNandaloadof26.7kNappliedatthetop

3.11 Safety Harness: EachcarshallbefittedwithaTypeAsafetyharnessinaccordancewiththerequirementsofScheduleI(see“GeneralRequirementsforCarsandDrivers”intheCAMSManualofMotorSport).
3.12 Ride Height: Nopartofthecar,exceptfortyres,maybeclosertothegroundthan40mm.Thismeasurementwillbetakenwiththedriverseatedatthesteeringwheel,thecarinracetrimandwiththewheelspointedstraightahead.
4. ENGINE4.1 Permitted Engine: OnlytheFord1600ccDuratecunitfittedtotheWBFiestaispermissible.Enginesareto
bepurchasedthroughtheCM.Eachenginewillbesuppliedwithatotalofeightseals,oneoneachofthefollowingcomponents:Frontsealhousingbolt,rearsealhousingbolt,crankshaftpulleybolt,cylinderheadtocylinderblock,inletandexhaustcamshaftbearingcapboltsandinletandexhaustcamshaftfrontpulleybolts.AdditionalsealsmaybefittedatthesolediscretionoftheCM.
Eachenginewillbeindividuallyidentifiedwithauniqueserialnumber.4.2 Engine Mounting: Theengineshallbemountedupright,alignedforeandaftinthechassisandadditionally
thecrankshaftcentrelinemustbeonthelongitudinalcentrelineofthevehicle.4.3 Addition of Materials: Theadditionofanymaterial,beitmetal,plasticorcompositeetc,byanymeansbeit
welding,bonding,encapsulationorencasementtoanycomponentisprohibited.SpecificrepairofcastingsmaybeallowedwithwrittenapprovaloftheCM.
4.4 Balancing: Balancingoftheflywheelandclutchispermitted,providedonlyminimallocalisedweightisremovedandtheminimumweightsdetailedinArticle4.9(g)and(h)arerespected.
4.5 Exhaust System: TheexhaustmanifoldmustusethestandardgasketandtheSpecifiedmountingflangeatthecylinderheadface.
Theprimarypipesmustbe38mm(1½”)OD,800mmlongand1.6mmwallthickness.Thesecondarypipemustbe50mm(2”)ODand1.6mmwallthickness.
TheSpecifiedcollector,availablethroughtheCM,mustbefitted.Theexternalsurfaceofthecollectormaybemodifiedtofitlocatingclipsandbypainting.Noothermodificationsarepermitted.
Theinternalsurfaceofthecollectormustremainassupplied. Theprimarypipeswillbemeasuredbyvolume,andtheaveragevolumeofeachpipeincludingthe
mountingflangeshallbe760cc±2%.Toallowforindividualprimarypipesitispermittedtosectionthemountingflange.
AmufflerprovidingnoiseabatementcomplyingwiththerequirementsofCAMSmustbefittedatalltimesduringpracticeandracing.
4.6 Lubrication System: TheSpecifiedsumpmustbeused.Externaltotheengine,theonlyscavengepumpallowedistheSpecifiedcomponent.Theremainderofthelubricationsystem,includingoilcoolers,isfree.
4.7 Cooling System:(a) Awaterbasedcoolingsystemismandatory.(b) Thedrivefromthecrankshafttothewaterpumpisfree,andconsequentlytherotationalspeedofthewater
pumpmaybechanged.Thepulleys,beltsandretentionboltsdrivingthewaterpumparefree.(c) Thethermostathousingandwateroutlethousingsarefree.Thethermostatmayberemoved.Theoriginal
enginewatercirculationconceptandthestandardwaterpumpmustberetained.(d) Nootherpumpormotormaybeusedtocirculateorassistcirculationofthecoolantliquid.4.8 Crankshaft Pulley: Thecrankshaftpulleyisfreeasarethedrivebeltsandpulleysforthealternatorand
scavengepump.4.9 Flywheel and Clutch:(a) TheflywheelmustbetheSpecifiedcomponent.Noothermachiningisallowed.Forrectificationtheclutch
matingfacemayberesurfaced,providingtheminimumweightisrespected.(b) ThepositionoftheignitionmarkontheflywheelrelativetothecrankshaftmustremainwithinForddesign

4.10 Induction System: TheinductionsystemshallremaininconformancewiththerelevantdiagramsinAppendixB,specifically:
(a) Inlet manifold-theinletmanifoldmustbetheSpecifiedcomponent.(b) Throttle body-thethrottlebodymustbetheSpecifiedcomponent.(c) Air filter -theairfiltermustbetheSpecifiedcomponent.4.11 Non-Standard Fasteners: Theuseofnon-standardreplacementfasteners,nuts,bolts,screws,studs

13. MISCELLANEOUS(a) EnginecomponentsnotcoveredbytheseRegulationsmustremainstandardandunmodified.Therequirement
fortheuseofstandardpartsisdeemedtomeanthepart,asdefinedbythepartnumber,prescribedbytheFordMotorCo.sparepartslistingfortheappropriateengine.Unlessotherwisespecifiedherein,allpartsshallbe“standard”partsandfurther,unlessspecificallyauthorisedtheyshallnotbealteredinanyway;andtheyshallbeassembledandfittedinthemannerintendedbytheFordMotorCo.
(b) Theuseoftitanium,highstrengthcomposites(eg,carbonorKevlar)andsimilarmaterialisprohibited,savewherespecificallyauthorisedintheseRegulations.
