This conference, which started as an international workshop on distributed computing (IWDC), gained within a few years visibility as one of the leading international conferences in this area. The proceedings of ICDCN 2013 were published by Springer as volume 7730 of the Lecture Notes in Computer Science (LNCS). Among the 149 submitted papers, the program committee selected 27 long papers (18 in the distributed Computing track, and 9 in the Networking track), plus 5 short papers. The organization of ICDCN 2013 was supported by the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research in Mumbai. The five papers included in this TCS special issue provide an overview of the scope of ICDCN. They were selected based on the reviewing process, by the program committee, and were then thoroughly refereed again by new reviewers according to the high standards of TCS. We thank the authors for their valuable contributions, and the anonymous referees for their efforts and dedication. Over the years, ICDCN has established itself as a high standard conference dedicated to advanced topics in networking and distributed computing. We hope this is reflected in this special issue, and look forward for many successful ICDCN conferences in the future. Preface

Special Issue on Distributed Computing and Networking

This special issue of Theoretical Computer Science is dedicated to selected papers from the 14th International Conference on Distributed Computing and Networking (ICDCN) held in January 2013 in Mumbai, India.
