Carli Berry is a fourth-year journalism student at � ompson Rivers University in Kamloops. She spends her summers on Vancouver Island and this year is helping out the Parksville Qualicum Beach News by covering a variety of news stories and taking photographs. She hopes to use this experience to gain a deeper understanding of

photography and loves the chance to get out and about in the community.

Je� Westnedge is a full time designer with the Parksville Qualicum Beach News. Je� also does free-lance design, illustration, photography and video and is passionate about bringing his clients ideas to life. Jessica Skelton has worked for a Port Alberni radio station and as a free-lance writer in Australia and Canada.

Born in Parksville, Skel-ton spent some years with her family in Dawson Creek before returning to the Island and going to high school in Port Alberni.Jessica has since returned to Australia. Skelton says “I

like meeting people and telling their stories.”

Brian Argyle is a Qualicum Beach ‘snowbird’ and avid photographer with a com-puter background—a good blend for the digital world. He’s also a bit of a ‘car nut’ who loves to visit new plac-es and try new techniques and equipment. He teach-es photography workshops locally and in Arizona and has had exhibits of his work in various Island gal-

leries. Contrary to the saying “Nothing good happens after midnight...” he often ventures out in his Jeep for Milky Way and other starry background shots.Email: [email protected]

Brenda Gough started her journalism career as a radio reporter back in the early 80’s.   � ese days she can often be found snapping photos of people out and about in the community for her Scene & Heard column in the PQB News.  Born and raised in Burnaby she has spent the last 20 years in Erringtonwhere she lives with her

husband Alan and their son AJ.     

John Harding has been a journalist for more than 25 years, working his way up to the managing editorposition of daily news-papers in a number of Canadian cities. John has been the editor of � e Parksville Qualicum Beach News sinceSeptember of 2012. "I'm honoured to be part of this Day in the Life project,"

said Harding, "Because, truth be told, as a photographer,I'm a heck of a writer."

Peter McCully has been a broadcaster and publisher on both coasts and has owned a newspaper and run a small advertising agency along the way. He trained as a TV camera-man at 16. Peter is Publisher of � e Parksville Qualicum Beach News, and has participated in seven previous Day in the Life community

� e 4-H SnapShots Pho-tography Club is part of the Parksville Qualicum 4-H District.  We are in our 5th year and have a very active group of talented young photographers ranging in age from 9 to 18 years.  Our members go on � eld trips, participate in local shows (such as the Brant Wildlife Festival and photo shows at the

McMillan Arts Centre) and enjoy workshops andpresentations by other talented local photographers.

Kaelin Sundberg-Groot is 13 years old, her second year in 4H Snap Shots and enjoys taking photos ofnature, animals and her Yorkshire Terrier, Everest.

Rya Harach is in his third year in the Snapshots Club, and � fth year in the Oddstock Club and has been interested in many di� erent projects including poultry, gardening, sewing and sheep. Rya likes macrophotography and people but has fun taking photosno matter what the subject.

Ava Leary is 10 years old, her � rst year in 4HPhotography. Ava’s favourite subjects to take pictures of are animals and nature - also loving Highland Dance and Soccer.

Sinead Strijack is 13 years old and is in her 5th year in the 4H Photography. Her favourite things to take photos of with her Samsung NX 1100, are animals and landscapes. 

Haley Sudlow is in her 4th year of 4-H, and 2nd year in Sewing and Photography. Haley is using a Nikon Coolpix P600, Nikon Coolpix S31 and an Olympus C-8080 Wide Zoom. In her free time Haley enjoystaking pictures, mathematics, biking, swimming,music, and playing full contact football.

“Mom”, as she was known to many people, passed away peacefully at Mt. Saint Mary’s in Victoria.Born in St. James, Manitoba to parents Matthew M. Brown and Mary Brown (Ramsey).She moved to Vancouver in her twenties and eventually to Parksville in 1989. Here she spent many an hour in her garden or out walking her beloved dogs on the trails and beaches.As per her request, there will be no service.In lieu of flowers, her wishes were for donations to be made to the North Island Wildlife Recovery Association or the SPCA.
