THANKSGIVING OFFERING TO BENEFIT
APPLETON EPISCOPAL MINISTRIES
For more than 140 years Appleton has been a diocesan ministry with a focus
on children. Appleton Family Ministries (now known as Appleton Episcopal
Ministries) was begun in Macon as a home for orphans of Confederate
soldiers and changed with the times to become group homes serving various
needs and an outdoor therapeutic center. It now operates as an after-school
program for at-risk children and a mentoring program for their parents. For
more information about this ministry, contact Missioner Julie Groce, 478-731
-5901, or visit their website at www.appletonepiscopal.org. A special
offering for Appleton Episcopal Ministries – to be taken in all churches "on
Thanksgiving Day or between the Sundays preceding and following
Thanksgiving Day, both inclusive"– is written in the diocesan canons (No.
24). We will have a basket at the altar on Thanksgiving Day, November
26th, and Sunday, November 29th, to receive your generous donations.
VESTRY NOMINATIONS NEEDED BY DECEMBER 2, 2015 Kenna Aniagoh, Marti Hladish, Tracey Rice, and Pam South will
complete their terms on Vestry as of December 31, 2015, and we
will be electing four new Vestry members on December 13,
2015. Serving the Church at this level of commitment is a
God-given call. Please pray and ask God to help you discern a call
to serve on our Vestry. When we give our “Yes” to God, God
gives us the enthusiasm, stamina, and joy we need to serve faithfully.
If you or someone you know would like to stand for the 2016 Vestry, please
submit the names, along with a brief biography and picture of the nominee, to
Ted Farmer, our Jr. Warden, by Wednesday, December 2, 2015, for
consideration. Please remember that if you nominate someone, you must have
their permission to do so. You are also welcome to nominate yourself.
Candidates for Vestry must be a member of our parish in good standing, be at
least 18 years old, be a regular attendant at services in the preceding year, and
be known by the Treasurer to have made and fulfilled a stated financial
commitment in the preceding year.
Vestry responsibilities include attending a monthly Vestry meeting to advise
and conduct Christ Church business, encouraging and supporting volunteers,
and serving as an ambassador to the parish and community. For more
information, please contact Ted at 678/429-0826 or [email protected].
PRIMETIMERS’ LUNCHEON, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 2, 2015
Please join us in the Parish Hall at 12:45pm on Wednesday,
December 2, 2015, for our PrimeTimers’ Lunch. Please let us
know if you plan to attend by contacting Leslie Wengenroth at
[email protected], or call 770/495-9103 or 404/324-3694, so
they can properly plan the lunch menu.
LADIES NIGHT OUT—DECEMBER 3, 2015
Come join old friends and make new friends at Ladies Night Out,
Thursday, December 3, at 6pm, at Mojito’s Cuban Restaurant, 35
S. Peachtree St, Norcross. Hope to see you there! For more
information, please contact Terry Franzen.
WANTED! GRAPHIC DESIGNER
Wanted! Someone who has capabilities as a graphic designer. We have several
upcoming projects and would appreciate help in conveying information in a
creative and clear way. Please contact Beth Holland in the church office.
CHRIST CHURCH PLAYERS TO PRESENT
NEW CHRISTMAS SHOW
Mark your calendars for December 5th at 7:00pm! The Christ
Church Players will present The Night Before Nicholas: an original
play hosted by the legendary and real-life saint himself. The play
draws upon the music and folklore of many countries, celebrating
the rich flowering of song and story surrounding the birth of the
Baby Jesus. The Nicholas legend is but one of the lovely traditions
that fill the Sacred Season with jollity and joy. Bring the whole
family!
DECEMBER’S MISSION OF MERCY: DECEMBER 6, 2014
RECTOR’S DISCRETIONARY FUND
As with any outreach organization, to help those in need requires the generous
donation of funds. The Rector’s discretionary fund is no different. As a priest,
people come to Ceci for help. She helps people in spiritual, caring ways, but
sometimes the need is financial, whether it's food for a family or a light bill for
an elderly person. Please support Ceci in her calling to help those who come to
her, by giving to her discretionary fund. As always, donations are accepted year
round.
Advent, the season of waiting and expecting, is a good time to give on behalf of
those in need.
YOU ARE INVITED TO LIGHT THE ADVENT WREATH
Each Sunday in Advent we take a moment at the beginning of
the 8:00am and 10:30am service to say a short prayer and
light the Advent Wreath candles. If you (individuals and/or
whole families) would be interested in participating in this
ministry, please contact Beth Holland at 770/447-1166 or
e-mail to [email protected] and let her know which dates
and service times you are available (Nov. 29th, Dec. 6th, 13th and 20th). We
will then provide a schedule to all participants. Thanks!!
ADVENT BEAN SOUP
Please plan to join the Women's Sunday School class on
Sunday, December 6th during the Sunday School hour as we put
together ingredients for bean soup "kits" to give to the Norcross
Cooperative Ministry. We will be set up in the Parish Hall and
all are welcome to participate in this outreach activity. For more
information, please contact Terry Franzen.
MEN’S GROUP TRIVIA NIGHT
The Christ Church Men’s Group invites you to join them at
the Tavern at Medlock at 7:00pm on Wednesday, December
9, 2015, for Trivia Night. We have a BLAST! Come find out
how. For more information, please contact Ben Pitman at

contributions through Monday, December 14, 2015. Donation

Memory of _____,” or both. You may also call the church office
at 770/447-1166 for more details.

made. All proceeds will go to our school in Haiti. Stop by and see the calendars.
CALLING ALL KNITTERS AND CROCHETERS The Order of St. Luke, which offers healing prayers in the parlor
every Sunday during Holy Eucharist, needs people who crochet or
knit, to make small hand-held prayer cloths, about the size of your
hand. They can be in any shape--rectangles, squares, triangles,
circles, etc.—any color, or any design. The prayer cloths will be
blessed by our clergy and given to anyone who requests them, as they provide a
source of comfort and healing. Feel free to give them to Sarah Randall or Val
Wilson, or you may bring them to the church office. For more information
about the Order of St. Luke, please contact Sharon Pitman.

Due to the Thanksgiving Holiday and many of our Chapel Leaders being out of
town, we will not have Children’s Chapel on Sunday, November 22nd or 29th.
Like we did last summer, we invite children to sit up front, on quilts near the
altar, so they can see what is happening! Busy bags, coloring, and small hand-
toys will be available. Children up to 6 years may go to the nursery if they
would prefer. Thank you! Pageant rehearsals will resume on Dec. 6th.
ADVENT WREATH SUNDAY—NOVEMBER 29, 2015

two weeks away! We’ll gather in the Parish Hall on November

during the Advent season. Materials include four 10” tapers ($7)
and one brass wreath form ($8). If you need materials, please
e-mail The Rev. Jody Greenwood ([email protected])
by November 22nd, and she will order them.
PLEASE BRING GREENS, AND SOME TO SHARE!
