speakers on theme of mercy our lady of pentecost summer...
TRANSCRIPT
Sister Linda Koontz, SNJM Sister Linda has been involved in the Catho-lic charismatic renewal from its early begin-nings. She has given talks at conferences, workshops and leaders training seminars. She also is in the active apostolate. In 1971 she was released from full time teaching to serve in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.
1977 was a life-changing year for her. She was invited to El Paso, Texas to take part in an evangelization program among the poor-est of the poor in Juarez, Mexico. Upon the invitation of Fr. Rick Thomas, S.J. she joined with his community in full time service to the poor in the hills of Juarez, Mexico.
In 1986 she founded Spirit of The Lord Inter-national Mission, an outreach to the poor, in Juarez, Mexico as well as the Caribbean and other parts of the world.
In Juarez, Mexico the mission has changed lives by providing education for the poorest children. She said, “We have built houses for those who lived in cardboard shacks and have provided food, medicine, and care for fami-lies. The focus of Spirit of The Lord Interna-tional Mission is evangelization: bringing the Good News of Jesus Christ to the World.” She also said, “I have been privi-leged to serve in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal as a preacher and teacher around the world and in every state of the United States.”
She is also sincerely grateful to be a part of the Sisters of The Holy Names of Jesus and Mary whose mission is to minister to the poor.
Father Sylvester Obiora Ibekwe
Father Obi was ordained October 13, 2015 but he has been a long time supporter of the Catho-lic charismatic renewal in the diocese of Nelson. He is currently assistant at St. Pius X church in Kelowna and serves the parish of St. Edward’s in Lake Country/Winfield.
Father is a gentle, loving man who has inspired people in the renewal with his deep insights in spirituality. He can be seen to be guided by the Spirit as he talks and the Spirit’s message and inspiration is brought through him. This makes him sought-after for his spiritual direction and counsel.
He is also very skilled in bringing participants to deep experiences through his spiritual exercises and activities. Father Obi will be conducting two such evenings at this summer’s institute.
Father Obi will celebrate Masses, including the healing Mass on Monday evening. He will also share his spiritual insights with us on Thursday morning and afternoon.

SPEAKERS ON THEME OF MERCY Our Lady of Pentecost
Summer Institute
Receive Mercy – Move Forward in the Spirit
“All who call on the name of the Lord will be saved.” Rms. 10:13
The Institute is our opportunity to gather with Mary, the mother of Our Lord, calling upon the Holy Spirit to inspire us and impel us to move forward in the power of the Spirit to bring the knowledge of God’s love and mercy to our communities and the waiting world. It is here that we learn to listen and, like Mary, ponder in our hearts and integrate God’s message for us and be moved to share with all what God is doing in the Church today. This year we will be listening to how we may live and apply mercy in our lives and show mercy to our communities with the help of the Holy Spirit.

Amen
