WP A1.1

Determination of gas

composition range

Survey of gas compositions in Europe started with the analysis of gases in France (GDF SUEZ) and in Germany including biomethane (E.ON Ruhrgas).

- Scope of survey is to be enlarged by further countries with particular investigation on LNG qualities- Approach for choice of limit gases, consideration of DA2.3 “Expectations from fuels” - Commissioning of study “H2 embrittlement of CNG1 tanks” (subcontracting)

WP B0.2

Num. Simulations on the influence of gas quality

Activities at CTU/JRBC:

A GT Power based 1-D model has been adopted by to the engine used for the tests in WP B0.4. The “Three Pressure Analysis” (TPA) scheme has been implemented in its basic form at the testing engine.

A method for prediction of knock onset has been established and calibrated to the test engine.

- Adaptation of GDF SUEZ model to the engine used by JRBF and start of numerical simulations by GDF SUEZ - Evaluation of the ability of the GDF SUEZ model to reproduce test engine behaviour- Compilation of results and preparation of deliverable DB0.5 “Engine model ability to simulate test bench engine”

WP B0.3

Supply of limit gases

(No current activity according to work plan) WP is planned to start in month 13

WP B0.4

Engine tests on gas quality

impacts

At CTU / JRBC: Two engines have been installed on the test beds in engine laboratory and prepared for use as a source of experimental data.Initial tests on the gas composition influence have been performed with respect to CO2-admixture to russian gas.

At E.ON Ruhrgas:Installation of a Daimler CNG test engine is almost completed.

At CTU / JRBC: Definiton of gas mixtures (russian gas + 2 additional components) for testing (input from GDF SUEZ and E.ON Ruhrgas) and performing gas sensitivity tests with these mixtures. Submission of test results to GDF SUEZ (WPB0.2)

At E.ON Ruhrgas: prove of functionality of test installation and integration of oil injection device into gas supply of the test rig

WP B0.5

Gas quality sensor

(No current activity according to work plan) WP is planned to start in month 13

WP B0.6

Final assess-ment

(No current activity according to work plan) WP is planned to start in month 23
