Created by crazy genius ‘David Franz’ this rosé is made using 108 different varieties and is delicious! Emulating a perfect raspberry and red current crush with lovely tight acidity leading through a generous fruit driven body finishing with a long lingering smear of lime and butterscotch sorbet. The rich floral characters of the Aromatic Varieties give an implied middle palate sweetness that is fully cleansed by the slightly sweet but crisp finish. Best when lightly chilled.


77. Sémillon, Sauvignon Blanc | Cullen | Margaret River, Australia 43The idea behind this wine is to make a white wine like a red wine. The grapes were left on skins and fermented partially before being pressed. The skin contact went from two days to one month depending on the grape/parcel. A complex wine, with lemon, cumquat, orange blossom and hints of honey. Textured and concentrated on the palate, with great length and persistence. Flavours of figs, dried pears, cream and orange are supported by a gentle saltiness on the finish.

This 100% Bonarda from Vista Flores in Mendoza has an abundance of fresh red fruit character; cherry, raspberry, redcurrant and cranberry. Along with good structure, soft tannins and a long finish.

81. Cabernet Sauvignon | Angulo Innocenti | Mendoza 31Deep, inky-ruby colour with lovely lifted notes of fresh mint, sweet spice and blackcurrant jam on the nose. Cab Franc from Argentina has a great future, we believe, the only restriction being the very small number of hectares currently planted, but that is changing as producers see the potential. In the meantime, we reckon this is the best value example you will find in the country.

84. Malbec | De Angeles | Mendoza, Argentina 39.5So much pure and beautiful fruit here with blackberry, blueberry and floral character. Full body, fine tannins and a long and flavourful finish. A real belter of a wine, one of the best we’ve tasted in years!

85. Meritage | Benegas-Lynch | Mendoza, Argentina 6930% Cabernet Sauvignon, 50% Cabernet Franc, 15% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot. 18 months in new French oak barrels and produced in tiny quantities. The vines are amongst the oldest in Argentina, over 100 years old. Rich aromas of red fruits, bramble and subtle menthol follow through with an indulgent palate of ripe blackcurrants, mint and a toasty finish. Made in collaboration with the team at Bordeaux’s famous Lynch-Bages Estate. Exceptional wine!

Mourvedre brings a wild earthiness and all are bound together by the aromatic and spicy nature of Grenache which softens the palate.

95. Merlot | Santiago | Casablanca Valley, Chile 23This deep ruby Merlot offers a variety of fresh red fruit aromasincluding raspberry, cherry and plum. French oak is evident, with notes of vanilla, nutmeg, and caramel and yoghurt. The palate is nicely balanced, with very subtle tannins, a good structure and a long finish.

96. Pinot Noir | Santiago | Casablanca Valley, Chile 26.5Delicate and fresh with soft and silky tannins and excellent acidity. The red fruit reappears along with a touch of anise and the finish is perfumed with good balance and pronounced varietal characteristics.

This wine will certainly continue improving over the coming year and is a great example of what can be achieved with this variety in the UK.

It is smooth on the palate with medium to full body and integrated supple tannins. Juicy, easy to drink, with a touch of spice on the long, fruit-driven finish.

Pessac-Leognan | Château Lamothe Bouscat | 44Pessac-Leognan, BordeauxA blend of 65% Merlot with the balance 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Malbec and Cabernet Franc; aged in barrels for over a year. Owned by the Lurton family since 1980 this Bordeaux shows good typicity with spicy, mineral notes, some smoke, ripe cherry fruit on a smooth palate.

110. Châteauneuf-du-Pape | Vaudieu | Rhône, France 48.5Deep ruby red in colour, with a black cherry core. This wine has lively berry fruits on the nose, with a touch of liquorice and a hint of black pepper. Full of fruit, juicy and round with ripe tannins that gently support the cherry, cassis and herb character on the finish.

111. St Emilion Grand Cru | Tour De Capet | Bordeaux 49.580% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Intense, clear purple-red in colour, this wine offers cherry perfumes and hints of toast. On the palate it is full in body, with soft, balanced tannins and juicy red fruit on the finish.

115. Gevrey-Chambertin | Jane Eyre | Burgundy, France 72Classic Pinot Noir. This wine is typical Gevrey. Griotte cherries and darker fruit aromas. The palate is quite delicate finishing with fine tannins. Superb wine for any occasion!

116. Chambbolle-Musigny | Jean-Claude Boisset | Burgundy 77Gorgeous deep colour with ruby tinges. Black fruit and some wild notes on the nose. Lovely and elegant mouthfeel with smooth tannins and beautiful length on the spicy finish.

117. Cantenac Brown 3ème Cru Classé | Château Cantenac Brown | 118 Margaux, Bordeaux Lovely depth of fruit and spice on the palate with fabulous concentration and focus. Very precise, this is incredibly elegant with multi-layered fruit and a wonderfully long finish. If you fancy the taste of the first growth quality of the grand vin but at a third of the price, then this is your bag dude!

118. Grand Vin | Pichon-Longueville | Pauillac, Bordeaux 295‘Baron’ runs adjacent to Chateau Latour, and is one fo the most respected super second producers in Bordeaux. Predominately Cab Sav, this is a fairly powerful, muscular wine with plenty of potential to age. Think Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 80’s...but fruitier.

119. Lynch-Bages | Chateau Lynch-Bages | Pauillac, Bordeaux 340Very dark ruby colour, toasty and appetising. Appealling subtlety and complexity on the nose. Classic Cru-classe Bordeaux flavours of red and dark fruits, spice box and new leather. Think Freddie Mercury...but fruitier.

ITALY

120. Sangiovese Riserva | Ke Bonta | Puglia, Italy 24.5A superb wine from the Emilia-Romagna region. Ruby red with lashings of ripe cherries, dried fruit and spice, light and fruity on the palate, a corker with rich pasta dishes or with BBQ sauce based dishes, excellent value for money.

121. Valpolicella | Castleforte | Veneto, Italy 25A lively, youthful ruby wine with fresh cherry aromas that develop into a rich cherry pie character in the mouth. Body comes from soft, supple tannins that match the concentrated fruit through to the characterful finish.


122. Nero dÀvola | Colomba Bianca | Sicily, Italy 26Brilliant ruby red with purple hues, the Sherazade offers a bouquet of fragrant strawberries and raspberries enlivened by hints of black pepper. The palate is soft and enveloping with flavours that reflect the nose and smooth tannins.

123. Pinot Nero | Ca’di Alte | Veneto, Italy 26.5An attractive ruby-red in colour with an appealing cherry perfume, decent depth on the palate and good length. It puts many a Bourgogne Pinot Noir to shame.

Intense and fragrant, with dominant notes of vibrant red berries accompanied by the characteristic spiciness of pepper and rosehip blossom. Dry and harmonious, it captivates the palate with its elegance and succulent easy-drinking style.

127. Carignan | Cantina Mesa | Sardinia, Italy 29.5Deep ruby red in colour. Bouquet is rich, with emphatic fragrances of ripe wild berry fruit. Impressions of red berry fruit continue on the palate, which boasts a firm structure and notable balance among its components. The finish is long and lingering.

133. Barolo | Anna Maria Abbona | Piedmont, Italy 59The palate is rich with cassis and blackberries, mineral characters and tense tannins, all coming together on a spicy, peppery finish with incense notes. A very vibrant yet dense Barolo that promises a fabulous evolution over time.

134. Barolo Riserva | Costa Di Bussia | Piedmont, Italy 62Shiny ruby red in colour. Aromas of red fruits and plums combine with floral notes, pine needles and brushwood. ‘Le Albe’ is a harmony of sophisticated and delicate flavours supported by ripe tannins and an elegant acidity.

Notes of ripe red fruits, together with cassis and black berries, are in perfect balance with a hint of chocolate and liquorice. NEW ZEALAND

Beautifully aromatic with lush dark red fruit perfumes. On the palate, the wine is well rounded with an abundance of delicious soft fruit flavours. It finishes smooth and persistent, with soft ripe tannins.

138. Dao Tinto | Duque de Viseu | Dao, Portugal 28.5This is a fresh wine that is balanced between solid tannins and the ripe red berry fruits. Made to be drunk young, it has juicy acidity along with a firm mineral texture. Pure fruitiness shines at the end.


SOUTH AFRICA

139. Merlot | Excelsior | Robertson, South Africa 24The nose shows lovely ripe cherry characters, backed up by smoky coffee and spice notes. The palate is soft, yet has a good structure for medium term ageing.

140. Shiraz | Blockhead | Swartland, South Africa 24.5Think deliciously soft blueberries mixed with fresh strawberries, topped with a bit of fresh vanilla ice cream, and bingo you’ve got it. Awesome with barbequed food and spicy winter stews.

141. Red Blend | Goats do Roam | Paarl, South Africa 27.5Rhone style blend of Shiraz, Grenache, Mourvedre, Durif, Carignan & Cinsault. Bright ruby in the glass. Plums and red berries on the nose with cinnamon spice aromas. Medium bodied, the wine has silky juicy tannins and subtle vanilla on the palate.

142. Pinotage | Olifantsberg | Breedekloof, South Africa 32A beautifully crafted Pinotage showing ripe strawberry and cranberry fruits, elegant and silky. Fresh berry notes are complimented by sweet spice and a well balanced palate. A fresher style of Pinotage than some may be used to. Quite simply the best Pinotage we have tasted in recent years.

SPAIN

143. Garnacha | El Circo | Aragon, Spain 23Ruby red with purple hues, the Garnacha has intense aromas of ripe red fruit such as strawberries and cherries followed by a touch of spice. On the palate, it has smooth, firm tannins with a racy acidity and a very fruity finish.

144. Tempranillo (Organic) | Mesta | La Mancha, Spain 25.5Intense ruby in colour, with soft aromas and flavours of blueberries and prunes. The palate is brimming with dark plums and berry fruit, with silky tannins that make this a dangerously easy-drinking organic Merlot.

145. Ribera del Duero | Sembro | Ribera del Duero, Spain 28.5Dark fruits, juicy plum and vanilla from the 4 months of ageing in French oak gives this wine a complexity which belies its affordable price tag.

146. Rioja Joven | Alta Vega | Rioja, Spain 29Beautiful, young, modern wine that combines simplicity and elegance. It has spent three to four months of very careful storage in their underground cave which provides a variety of nuances that complement the red fruits, liquorice and vanilla aromas which are typical of Rioja. A tasty wine with a sweet tannin structure that leaves a long aftertaste.


147. Priorat | La Petit Agnes | Priorat, Spain 32An elegant Priorat expression of tremendous value made from the Finca la Solana Single Vineyard at Bodegas Cal Grau. The traditional blend is opaque ruby in color. Benchmark smoky minerals on the nose from the region’s Licorella or black slate soils, combine with ripe blackberries and dark berry licorice. Having been aged in exclusively French oak for 6 months, the mouth feel is seamless in texture with polished velvety tannins.

148. Rioja Reserva | Izadi | Rioja, Spain 33Shiny ruby red in colour. Rich aromatic intensity and a nice balance of red fruit, liquorice and spices, with hints of smoke in the background. Elegant and round on the palate with a long aftertaste full of floral and ripe fruit notes.

153. Pinot Noir | Littorai | Sonoma County, California 78Ripe fruit aromas of red cherry and cranberry are followed by rose petal and notes of cinammon, nutmeg and red liquorice. 154. ‘Essensia’ Orange Muscat 37.5cl | Quady | California, USA 23Outrageously rich and delicious with a vibrant peachy, orangey bouquet. With an aroma reminiscent of orange blossom and apricots. The palate is rich and sweet and ends with a lingering, refreshing aftertaste. Excellent with any dessert, but particularly those with chocolate, orange or apricots.

155. ‘Elysium’ Black Muscat 37.5cl | Quady | California, USA 23Black Muscat, an under appreciated muscat variety, one of the very few black skinned muscats. Virtually black in colour, with a rose like aroma, very intense on the palate and full of fantastic rich velvety fruit. One of the few wines that can stand up to chocolate puddings. Or try it poured over ice cream for the ulimate after dinner treat.

156. Sauternes 37.5cl | Castelnau de Suduiraut | Sauternes, 29 Bordeaux This is the second wine of Chateau Suduiraut, a premier Cru classe Sauternes who’s vines border those of Chateau d’Yquem. A well made and elegant wine with suductive aromas of fragrant orange blossoms, spices and fudge. The smooth initial taste develops into soft sweetness on the palate backed by the delicate aromas that are found on the nose.

157. Sauternes | Château Delmond | Sauternes, Bordeaux 46.5Classic Sauternes! Pale gold in colour with fresh floral and stone fruit aromas on the nose. Apricot, honey and peach mix with citrus peel and creamy flavours on the palate. Medium to full in body with refreshing acidity to balance the lingering sweet finish.
