PRTR-España is the Spanish Register of Emissions and Pollutant Sources, which provides information on the pollutant emissions to air, water and land, and off-site transfer
of wastes from the main industrial facilities.
PRTR-España gives to the public all the information validated by the Competent
Authorities, following the criteria of the PRTR Protocol, the European Regulation
166/2006 (E-PRTR) and the Real Decreto 508/2007, and its amendments, when the
emission values are above the established thresholds.

Adoption of the PRTR Protocol - Aarhus Convention Kiev, May 2003, 21st. It came into force the 8th October 2009. Spain is Party of it, since September 2009.
Regulation 166/2006 regarding the establishment of an European Pollutant Release and Transfer Register. (E-PRTR)
Real Decreto 508/2007, regarding the information which has to be provided to the Spanish PRTR (Annex I: industrial activities categories; Annex II: subtances/ pollutants to be reported; Annex III: data and formats) and its amendments through the Real Decreto 815/2013 (IED transposition).

PRTR-España is designed as an integrated tool for gathering, management and
dissemination of data, located in the Internet, taking into account the Spanish legal
competencial.
This integrated electronic tool is structured in two levels of access with different
funcionalities: MEMBER AREA and PUBLIC INFORMATION.
FACILITIES (owners/operators): registration, reporting and queries
COMPETENT AUTHORITIES (revision, validation, uploading, data management): Autonomous
Communities (ACs), River Basin District (RBDs).
OTHER AUTHORITIES: water, wastes, air quality, ETS, national inventories and national statistics, etc.
SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR (management, public information, int. requirement, hosting maintance):
Ministry.
