2. The United Nations Childrens Fund (UNICEF)was created by United Nations GeneralAssembly in 1946. To help European children incountries that had been devastaded by WorldWar II. UNICEF is supported by contributions fromGovernment and private donors. 3. It was given the Nobel Peace Prize in 1965and the Prize of Asturias award of Concord in2006. 4. UNICEFs work in 193 countries and territoriesand serves as the primary point of distributionfor such essential items as vaccines, nutrionalsuplements, water and makes it possible thatchildren have basic education, protectionagainst violence, exploitation and AIDS. 5. Kofi AnnanKofi Annan 6. Born on 8thApril 1938 in Ghana, was the 7thGeneral Secretary of United Nations between1997 and 2006. He was the Coordinator of Human Resourcesand Security (1987-1990), Budget and FinanceController, and worked on PeacekeepingOperations. He studied Economics in Kumasi College ofScience and Technology and he went onstudying in USA and Switzerland. 7. He was given the Nobel Peace Prize in 2001. 8. In 1996 he was appointed as General Secretaryof United Nations.He was the 1stblack man to hold this position. He foccused on clearout of United Nations, andhe fought against AIDS. He finished as Secretary of UN in 2006. He was against the invasion of Iraq by USAand UK. 9. Barack Obama Barack Obama, the president of USA since2008, was born in Honolulu (USA) in 1961.He is the 1stAfroamerican to be the president ofthe USA. He is involved in the improvement on thecontrol of conventional weapars globalwarming, nuclear terrorism, and he wasdetermined to end the War of Irak. 10. One of the his mostimportant goals is theUniversal HealthAssitance. He was re-elected asPresident of the USA in2012. 11. Barack Obama was given the Nobel Prize in2009, "for his extraordinary efforts to improveinternational diplomacy and cooperationbetween peoples."
