SOyUz: A LEGENDARy LAUNCHER

Arianespace is now building a new launch pad at the GuianaSpace Center or the legendary Soyuz launcher, soon to beavailable rom the world’s most modern launch site.

Commercial ights with the medium-li t Soyuz will begin in2009 rom the Guiana Space Center, joining the heavy-li tAriane 5 and the new Vega light launcher.

These missions will open a new chapter in the history o therobust Soyuz rocket, which ushered in the space age whenit launched Sputnik – the world’s frst satellite – in 1957.Since then, Soyuz has been in continuous production,demonstrating its unmatched reliability.

The modernized Soyuz which will be launched rom theGuiana Space Center o ers payload capacity o about 3,000kilos into geostationary trans er orbit – per ectly suited tothe growing market or medium communications satellitesand scientifc missions.

GIOVE-B navigation satellitewas launched by Soyuz on April 2008
