WEST ORANGE MOTORS
TAILORED SPACE MANAGEMENT
For over 30 years Space Logic has improved the efficiency and safety of work places in the commercial, industrial and medical field. The following case history represents a project that we have undertaken, and demonstrates the care taken to exceed the often demanding challenges presented by our clients.
THE CHALLENGE
West Orange Motors has been operating in its current location since 1974. It has grown into a multi-franchise motor dealer and is a benchmark dealership in Western NSW. West Orange Motors contracted Space Logic to provide space management expertise in relocating their parts store. The parts store was moving into a smaller premises, but required more storage and bin location capacity than the old store. As well as storing a larger inventory, Space Logic faced the added challenge of completing the relocation of the store without disrupting the day-to-day operations of the business.
THE APPROACH
Space Logic and West Orange Motors worked together to establish a solution that would fulfill the parts store’s immediate and future needs. Drawing on the past experience of both businesses all options were assessed and the correct design identified and implemented. By using a combination of high density drawer cabinets and steel shelving, and maximizing the use of the floor layout, the whole parts store was able to be relocated and organized efficiently into the new premises. Space Logic worked outside business hours and on weekends to achieve minimal disruption to the business.
THE RESULT
Space Logic was able to consolidate the inventory into a smaller area by utilizing 10 high density cabinets, containing over 4800 bin locations, and a supply of their ultra steel shelving. The benefits to West Orange Motors have been significant, allowing for quicker retrieval and faster identification of parts by staff. Drawers are easier to manage, parts aren’t spread over such a large area, and tasks can be completed quicker by parts interpreters.
