CAPITAL REGION – Arthritis Foundation of Northeastern New York encourages you to get your local weather and ar-thritis index with one click. People with arthritis often claim they can predict the weather, based on their joint pain level, and with good reason. Studies show a variety of weather factors can increase pain, especially changes. Watch for any changes in Barometric pressure (especially falling) and Temperature (especially lowering). You can fi nd what your Arthritis Index will be by going to www.arthritistoday.org and click on the “Arthritis Index” link and type in your zip code. It will provide you with a color-coded wheel indicating what someone may expect in joint pain level based upon his or her local weather. The index, which is fi ve levels, from low intensity to high can be a useful tool in dealing with pain management. The Arthritis Index is based on a proprietary forecast by the meteorologists at www.AccuWeather.com. (A)
