Southwestern Ohio District

61st District Assembly

2020

It is a joy to welcome you to this 61st Annual District Assembly of the Southwestern Ohio District Church of the Nazarene. Due to the COVID19 restrictions the business of this as-sembly is being handled by the District Advisory Committee.

We welcome General Superintendent, Dr. Carla Sunberg.

We also want to express our appreciation to each minister, dedicated layperson, and de-partmental leaders; Kurt Johnson, NMI; Jerrod Covert, NYI; Tom Zile, SDMI; each board and committee that serves so faithfully throughout the year; and our MVNU Trustees.

Thank you to Chuck and Brenda Hail, along with the staff of Higher Ground Conference and Retreat Center, for their hard work, preparation and kindness in hosting us through-out the year.

This has been a different year; to say the least! We were cruising along enjoying a good year when everything changed in mid-March. Never before has the church been closed and yet continued to find ways to serve and reach people. Churches were forced to devel-op media opportunities to accomplish their mission. Creativity has been incredible and we have all grown to meet the challenges. I had never heard of a Zoom meeting. Now, almost daily I am ‘Zooming.’ I miss the live assembly and look forward to resuming next year, the privilege of meeting together to celebrate and be encouraged. Please plan to be part of our ordination service on Sunday evening (6PM), September 13th, at West Chester. We need to be together as a district family!

PASTOR’S REPORT This year has been marked by continued growth in spiritual maturity, both as individuals and as a body. Our awareness of the love and favor of God has increased and our openness to others has grown. We are more confident than ever before of the goodness of God, His desire to bless and shape us, and our ability to share Him with people around us. I am pleased to report that our character as individuals and as a body are more in line with the character of Christ than they were last year, and we anticipate that growth to continue. As COVID-19 and the stay-at-home order came upon us, we, as all churches, had to shift in the way we do and receive ministry. The people of God at Amelia stepped into this time with a solid sense of the need to stay connected and growing in our faith, and they intuitively did what was needed to make that happen. I am proud of how the church and the church board has creatively handled this crisis and am confident of God’s smile. We continue to seek to live into holiness at its best and anticipate that the overflow will result in others finding peace in Christ and joining us on our journey of faith. Respectfully Submitted, Larry Lain, Pastor

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT The Church is alive and well at Bethel Nazarene! Ephesians 3:20 states, “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.” This promise continues to prove true in the life of our church. Now that my first full year as pastor is complete, I can testify that God has exceeded my expectations! To God be the glory, all this has been accomplished according to His power at work within us. My wife, three children and I have fallen in love with the people of our church and community. Our people have risen to the challenge this year time and time again. We have managed to stay unified through many unique experiences that could possibly have divided us. The Village of Bethel in rural Ohio is in desperate need of a thriving Nazarene presence. Pastor Megan Barret is helping us in our effort to reach out in relevant ways. Our S.O.S. (Sharing Our Savior) ministry, directed by Evonne Daugherty, continues to serve our community well. Our people sacrificially give to the church, missions, outreach and the ministries within our town. Our Children’s Pastor, Amber Blake, has creatively led our families with kids. We are very excited that Kenny McQuitty joined our pastoral staff in March of 2020. He is our Associate Pastor and oversees youth and discipleship. My wife, Stephanie, is our Worship and Arts director. I get to see every day how passionate she is about Christ and His church. We are all committed to striving for excellence and leading well in all that we do in order to bring glory to God! Respectfully Submitted, Kyle Lanham, Pastor

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT Greetings from Blanchester Nazarene, I am humbled by the sacrifice of people who have given of themselves to minister in our church and

community. Even as we face unique challenges as a church, the work goes on without interruption within

the larger framework in our place of responsibility. These challenges have been, and still are, daunting, but

we do our work in the sure confidence that God is doing His work as well.

I commend Rev. Jim Barringer and Rev. Angela France for excellence in their respective responsibilities.

The Exchange continues to be an amazing, developing ministry to people in need. I congratulate Alexandria

Juniet for receiving her first District Ministers License this year! We are blessed.

PASTOR’S REPORT This is my 24th report for the wonderful people of the Brookville Church of the Nazarene. To say that this has been a challenging year is like saying Noah's flood was scattered showers. The year began with our community being decimated by an f-5 tornado. Many houses, outbuildings, and vehicles were damaged or destroyed. By the grace of God there were no serious injuries. The church family and building were spared any major damage. We as a congregation reached out to the community by helping with needed supplies and financial assistance. The community has rebounded, and we had returned to at least something close to normal when the COVID pandemic reared its ugly head. Again, thus far, our church family has been blessed in that none of our folks have had the virus. Again, we give God praise. Like everyone else, we have had to deal with the "stay at home" order. Because of this we have had to learn new ways to minister. I started doing short devotionals through our "Call-em-all" phone messaging service. After the first week of the shutdown I started recording and posting the Sunday morning message on Facebook. The response has been amazing. We are actually reaching people in Florida and Texas. It is interesting to preach without people in the pews. We started having services again three weeks ago and again finding more people responding and being in service than we thought would be there. We have been using and plan to continue with the Facebook availability in the foreseeable future. At 74 years of age I am having to learn some new methods of reaching out. I guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. Although our stats are down, I would have to say that we have had a great year in ministry at the Brookville Church. We did take in 2 new members. And on a personal note, my wife and I welcomed our first great grandchild in February. God is good and He is actively at work in and through the good people of the Brookville Church of the Nazarene. I am excited to see what the new church year holds. I guess I am going to have learn what the "new normal" is. I am not sure what the old normal looked like. Yours in service to the King of Kings! PASTOR’S REPORT Dr. Sunberg, Dr. Mahaffey, Delegates and Friends of this assembly: It is a privilege to give my 13th report to the Southwest Ohio District Assembly as the pastor of the Cincinnati Carthage Church of the Nazarene. It is a blessing to serve this wonderful church and district. All accomplishments are due to the combined efforts of the pastor and people of the Carthage Church. This is our eleventh year as sponsor of the Bethesda Iglesia del Nazareno Church. The church continues to experience growth under the excellent leadership of Pastor Nelson Escobar. They are making a difference in the Carthage community. Our community continues to change, and our priority is to reach out to the lost around us. Our children’s director along with our teachers and workers reach out regularly to the children and community. We ask for your continued prayers as we share the message of Jesus with those who do not know Him. Our teens and adults continue to be involved in ministry, as well as in our worship. Thank you for your prayers. Gail and I count it a privilege to serve as the pastor and parsonage family of the Carthage Church of the Nazarene. Thanks be to God for His great love. We give Him the praise for His saving, sanctifying and keeping power. Respectfully Submitted, C.V. Spaulding Jr., Pastor

PASTOR’S REPORT Over the past year we have faced the same challenges that our nation has faced because of the pandemic. Being a very small congregation, it has not been difficult to stay in touch with our members during the time of the stay at home orders in our state. Most of our normal activities have nearly stopped. Unrelated to the pandemic, in the neighborhood around the church building, most of the houses have been purchased for renovation and resale. The effect of that has been a major decline in the number of children in the neighborhood. The young people who were the focus of our youth programs have nearly all moved away. Because of the health issues we have been unable to reach out to our new neighbors and at the same time have closed the church for services. Reaching out to the new neighbors is going to be our focus when it becomes safe to do so; however, most of the people purchasing in the neighborhood are young couples who do not have children. Being a very small congregation, our biggest challenge is maintaining our nearly 100-year-old building. About six months ago a Hispanic congregation approached us to rent our building for Sunday afternoon worship and church school services. Perhaps the greatest blessings from that relationship have been the opportunity to access the skills and abilities of their members to help us maintain our facilities while being able to provide them with a place to worship. Once again God has provided us with what we needed when we needed it and has given us new hope for the future. Respectfully Submitted, Pastor Bob Schnecker, Pastor

We had Church leaders and deacons election one month before the church closed due to COVID-19. Every services and ministry going well and members getting blessed on the bible study group. Even though the COVID 19 had enormous impact and brought a negative causes, our Church was going well, families are safe and they were spending a wonderful and an Amazing moment, and we’ve seen God do some amazing things at our member's personal and spiritual life, and continued to have an extremely strong prayer ministry and fellowship through social media video, and our two new members were getting ready to be baptized soon . our Compassionate ministries have involved in supporting people who had in need among our members and another Church fellow. we praise God for his wonderful presence through his word and precious Holy Spirit in our services and lives. The reopening of the churches is so important and our Church will going to be reopened on July05, and we counted as God’s Giving another chance to bind one with the other and worshiped him together. I want to thank our church members who was willing to serve for the countless hours of prayer , conversation, and bible studies ,and leaders who working with me, they listen to the spirit’s prompting, they are generous and so helpful in all dimensions of service ,as well as it is a great opportunity and joy to serve with them. in Closing, God has blessed me and my wife with a second baby boy and now she is a 7-month pregnant. PASTOR’S REPORT Greetings in the blessed name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ! When my pastorate began at Fairfax just a few short months ago on 12/15/2019, none of us could have possibly foreseen the whirlwind that was coming. And yet, through all the pandemic challenges, God has graciously given us welcome opportunities to embrace the changes and minister in new ways. Within a couple weeks of the concerns being raised with in person worship, we were able to begin having drive-in worship in our parking lot using an FM micro-transmitter – and we continue to do so every week, rain or shine. As we are about to embark on a significant remodeling project in the church building, drive-in worship will continue to serve us well. The people of Fairfax have been very supportive and shown great warmth and hospitality to my wife Cathy and myself all throughout these last few months – and we are most grateful for each and every one. We look forward to continuing our growth together with all in Holy Love as Jesus’ disciples – always seeking to be faithful witnesses to and doers of this glorious Gospel. Grace & Peace. 100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT Dear District family, Church year 2019-2020 has been quite a year—one that has been filled with many challenges, yet also marked by God’s abundant blessings. Like many churches, during the first 9 months of the church year we were able to function on the whole like our church has in the past—regular worship gatherings, the normal activities, etc. However, with the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic, almost everything changed. The good news is, Montana Avenue is making the adjustments necessary. Worship services quickly migrated online. While experiencing an initial drop in financial support, the next month witnessed a tremendous resurgence, and we currently stand on solid financial ground. The move to online worship, while initially extremely challenging, has witnessed some particular blessings. Reports continue to come in of people who have rarely, if ever, set foot in our building yet have watched the services and have been ministered to through them. Truly, nothing can stop the progress of the Kingdom of our Lord! Levels of care for those in the congregation and expressions of the compassion of Christ to our community continue. Some unexpected opportunities to minister to those who are “food uncertain” in Westwood are emerging, and a large food distribution with Cincinnati’s Freestore Foodbank is planned for late-June on our property. Best of all, a spirit of prayer, a sense of optimism, and the presence of the Lord continue to pervade the Church. While we don’t know exactly what the church will look like in the months ahead, we are moving ahead confidently knowing that Jesus will walk with us! It is truly an honor to shepherd these wonderful people. Respectfully Submitted, David Crofford, Pastor

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT Dr. Sunberg, Dr. Mahaffey, Delegates and friends of the Assembly, This is my 8th report for the Springdale church. I am blessed to serve among some of the finest followers of Christ in our denomination. These are good days at Springdale. It’s difficult to remember the events of this past year in the face of the current crises. But God has worked in and through the church all year long! Here are a few highlights.

• Online streams during this pandemic have reached folks in 45 states and 9 countries • We have 19 local and district licensed ministers • 1255 people served monthly through our Tri-County Soul Pantry • Budgets paid in full- 396,458.06 • 18 local financial partnerships • The start of the Salvage Yard Biker Church • Growing Hispanic campus • The start of a food pantry at the Norwood campus • Over 200 volunteers in the Early Childhood department • 227,638 dollars invested in facility updates and improvements • Established a Leader of diversity position to help us as we continue to grow more diverse

We are indebted to those who have worked the soil before us. Springdale has a rich history of faithful pastors and laypersons who have courageously planted and watered seed. Today we are reaping the benefits of their labor. Jesus said, “Others have done the hard work and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.” (John 4:38)

I thank God for the excellent staff and lay leaders at Springdale. They work hard. They listen to the Spirit’s prompting. They have loved and served well during this unusual and difficult year.

Finally, I want to thank my wife Tracy. Her love, prayers, and support are a gift from God. We have been on this journey for 33 years. We are grateful for God’s blessings. Respectfully Submitted, Daryl Blank, Pastor

PASTOR’S REPORT To General Superintendent and District Superintendent. In the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, I greet you and all who make up this District Assembly. This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it.” It is and should be obvious to us all about the keeper of our minds, bodies, and souls, especially in these times of civil unrest, viruses, floods, and storms at home and abroad. We need to be steadfast for all God’s provisions towards us individually and towards others. We are not forgetting the great problems that the corona virus is causing around our world although it has increased our prayers about these problems. This time of great civil unrest calls very loudly for Holy Spirit filled lives so that we can show our world a right response to the works of the flesh (Galatians 5:16-26) and help us to see the flesh at work and the solution by the work of the Holy Spirit. Let us continue to pray that righteousness will soon prevail. We were proud to have our District Superintendent Bob Mahaffey to visit us a few months ago. It gives us the extra assurance of his care for us. May God continue to bless him, his family, and his ministry. Cincinnati Victory Church with its few are still trying to do what God would have us to do during these difficult times. With an abundance of prayer, we are committed to the cause of sharing in God’s Kingdom Ministry. My district leadership and my precious membership has allowed and helped me to serve at Victory Church for about forty years continuously. What Love from God! Thank you! In response to the quarantine, we have been sharing our Sunday morning worship service via telephone at 11 a.m. Our outreach has been good as we have welcomed and worshiped with God’s children from Cincinnati, Dayton, Detroit, and Maryland. We are hoping to return to our church sometime in June. We are never happy when we cannot meet and greet our ministry friends weekly, yet we are encouraged to do our best under the current circumstances. We will not stop trying! I thank God for his marvelous grace that saves and sanctifies my life now! Respectfully Submitted, Norflee Harrison, Pastor

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT It’s a privilege to serve as Sr. Pastor at Countryside Church in Lebanon, Ohio. We continue to strive to advance the Kingdom of God here in Southwest Ohio. This is my 19th year to report for this Congregation. COVID 19 has challenged us to make drastic changes to everything we do. Our people and Leaders have bravely moved forward. I believe we have found ways to continue to strengthen the church even during this season. We have worked hard to provide Online ministry to our congregation. We are moving forward in faith to be more effective in ministry that ever before. Our School continues to grow stronger. We now have over 500 students and three campuses. PASTOR’S REPORT At Crossroads Church of the Nazarene we are thankful for every member of our congregation and we celebrate those who have lived a life of faith and move on up to eternity with Christ. This year we celebrated the lives of two wonderful men of God, Lloyd Brewer and Rev. Gary O'Bryant. These men of God left us a wonderful legacy of faith and we praise God for their enduring example. We continued to be a mission-minded church this year including having the privilege of hosting our zone rally with some wonderful Nazarene missionaries. I am thankful that we understand the mission and ministry of our local church is not limited just to our community, but we are part of a world-wide church that seeks to make an impact everywhere God is sending us. Finally, I am thankful that we can continue to have a real impact in our neighborhood through our Odyssey children's ministry, our clothing giveaway and the free haircuts we were able to offer as school started. Praise God for the faithfulness of His people who make up Crossroads Church of the Nazarene! Respectfully Submitted, Brian Deaton, Pastor

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT Our church year at Be Hope Church began with the Memorial Day tornados moving through the Dayton area. Within 8 days we deployed over 2000 volunteers to assist with debris removal to over 250 houses. We’re grateful for the leadership of our Hope Team, our partnership and good relationship with our city, and the agility of our staff to see their role as pastors shift from teaching to leading crews with chain saws in just a few moments. In September our campus in Fairborn launched with great excitement under the leadership of Matt Scruggs. Due to COVID-19 and the desire to be financially responsible, we decided to not renew Fairborn’s lease because we didn’t want to waste our campus funding on a building that couldn’t be used because of the pandemic. We’re in the process of finding a better location for our Fairborn Campus, a space that can become a community hub. In this in-between time, our team is still committed to be the Church in Fairborn until the right location is found, because we know church is far more than what happens in a weekend worship service. With just 20 weeks of meeting weekly, Fairborn saw 6 people baptized, great partnerships form with the city through food distribution and an incredible blood drive, and their Hope Team grow incredibly in their leadership. Our intention was to launch our Ironton campus on March 22, but that too was delayed by the global pandemic. This launch will take place on June 7! We are incredibly excited by the very young team that campus pastor, Robby Brown, has recruited within the Ironton community and the passion the team has shown to Be Hope to the city of Ironton. We’re also looking forward to the opening of the Be Hope Immigration Center this fall. Under the leadership of Alyssa Evans & Molly Slone, they have recruited and developed an incredible team that is committed to serving those who are marginalized and often overlooked in our community. Launching this center has at times been complicated, because our world does not suffer from a lack of opinions on immigration. Our statement has always been, “We are helping people who need help and are at incredible risk of being taken advantage of to follow the law and move towards a better future.” Throughout all this we are seeking to develop a reputation in the greater Dayton area that we love people because Jesus loves us. Alpha Community Church continues to minister to the people of Alpha and meets every Saturday evening @ 5:30. Currently Sheila Slone is transitioning out of that role to fully step into her role as the Beavercreek Campus Pastor, and we are excited for Kiesha Plaskett as she steps into that position. While we would greatly prefer that there only be one massive crisis per year, we’re excited about the future. We believe even in the midst of a pandemic that God is positioning us and leading us to amplify the message that our hope is in Jesus, and we are called to be hope to the world around us. We believe what started in Beavercreek, and has extended into Fairborn, Ironton, and Dayton, will only continue in the days ahead. The Best is Yet to Come!

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT Well, we’ve had quite the year here at Dayton Northridge. Memorial Day 2019 we were hit by an EF4 tornado that did some significant damage to our education wing and part of our sanctuary roof. We spent the greater part of 9 months getting those repairs done to our building. I’ve always said that the church is not just the building, but we almost lost our building. Throughout all of this we’ve learned to appreciate our dwelling together place. We have also learned that the church and the ministry is bigger than anything we can control. We received great help from churches on our district. Countryside took up a big clothing drive and donated money to us. Living Hope church came and helped us out with a cookout for the neighborhood. North Point Community and Pastor Robert Hussong and Matthew Collins came down and helped us clean up the neighborhood during the week of the storm. North Point also contributed food and cards to the surrounding neighbors of our church. We’ve seen God doing some amazing things at our church and in our community! Our Bear’s Den Clothing Closet has been going strong in serving 200-300 people every other month. It has given us a great avenue to start conversations with people in our community and surrounding areas. With this ministry we have been able to connect with local housing complexes and the schools to be a part of their back to school activities as well. We have continued to have an extremely strong prayer ministry at Northridge Nazarene. Prayer is something that is taken very seriously here and will continue to encourage prayer and give our congregants ample opportunity to pray. We have our regular prayer time on Wednesday evenings as well as encouraging prayer before our morning activities on Sunday mornings. Prayer chains are started on a regular basis in our church from phone calls, to text messages and even on social media when necessary.

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT It is a wonderful privilege to bring yet another pastor’s report, my 39th, to a district assembly. Patty and I have been serving Parkview since March 1, 2020. Two Sundays of corporate worship and . . . BOOM! This has been an unusual season for Parkview in that they were without a pastor for nearly a year. I accepted their invitation to serve in November of 2019 but could not assume my responsibilities until March of this year. We have found a wonderful group of dedicated people who have a strong desire to see the church become more intent on community involvement and outreach, more aware of a new generation seeking to connect with God in different settings, and more creative in advancing the message of Scriptural holiness in in order connect with multiple generations. Our church board is deeply committed to work together in leading the church to these ends. Andrea Dagnall continues to give good leadership as Pastor to Families with Children. Joshua Kelley has joined us as our Pastor of Worship Arts and Media. We continue to pursue a Pastor of Families with Youth. I want to express appreciation to Pastor Ron Reynolds and Jeanne Ann for their excellent leadership as Interim Pastor. Parkview was blessed by his ministry for several weeks . . . thank you, Ron and Jeanne Ann. I confess that Patty and I are humbled to have the opportunity to give our lives to one more local church as we push toward the proverbial “finish line” of life in one way or another. 100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT Greetings in the name of our Lord. A few months ago, as we were looking forward to Easter and had no idea about COVID 19, we revealed a new vision to our congregation. Our vision is to Love God and love people by helping them GET CONNECTED – To God (to God’s unconditional, life changing love) To A Group (of friends for support and growth) and To a Team (to do ministry) We look forward to putting structure to this vision in the coming year. This year God continued to help us on our journey. He has brought us new families with children which has brought an air of excitement. We also continue to see people coming to know the Lord and grow in his love. In March I had the pleasure of baptizing a family that came to church two years ago for Scouting Sunday. It has been so much fun to watch them accept the Lord and draw close to him! This year, after a year of training a preparation, we started Celebrate Recovery. It is off to a good start and we look forward to seeing it’s influence grow as we resume following the quarantine. For several years we have partnered with Life Recovery Groups that meet in our building twice a day every Monday through Friday. This year we will incorporate them as an official ministry of our church and the leader, Santo Landerer, will be known as our Life Recovery Pastor. We continue to partner with other recovery groups and the cold shelter. We also provide room for a group that feeds 250 children every weekend during the school year. We have partnered in our building with our county School Success Liaisons and pantries to provide almost 600 kids with back to school supplies (classroom specifics school supplies, new shoes and haircuts) with Christmas for Kids that provided presents for almost 600 kids and with many other compassionate ministry efforts. Our church has become known as a church that loves the community and we are beginning to see God work in the lives of people. The people who call themselves the Eaton First Church of the Nazarene are a people who love God, love people, and show it by the way they live. May God be praised! NMI Update Welcome from the NMI council. Missions is still alive and well even if we have had a difficult year these last couple of months. With everything that happened, someone asked where are the killer hornets? I understand they were now just an intermission. :) Our district, like pretty much every other district around the world has cancelled the assembly and conventions. Even though we are cancelled, we are not out of business. I am a professor at Miami and shared with my students that we were still in class, they were still my students and I was still their Professor. Well, we are still in the business of missions, our missionaries are still working, our church is still working, I am still working, and GOD is still working. To that end, let's talk about what this means to us. Our convention, which is a wonderful time to meet, celebrate, laugh and plan is being delayed, not cancelled. We need to take care of some business by July, even though we won't be meeting. We will be having a wonderful weekend of celebration in the fall. I will let you know as soon as that date is set. PASTOR’S REPORT God has been faithful in a particularly challenging year. Wrightview continues to grow in and live out the values of God’s Kingdom inside the church walls and in our community. Christ has revealed new ways to do ministry during this time of quarantine. We know we simply cannot return to the standard order of ministry. We have to embrace God’s asking, to be uncomfortable and even fearful in how we are to be the church in our community. With the absence of in person worship, many have realized the value of congregational worship, but also the value that God can do things in and with our church that we thought were impossible or useless. A few of the highlights from this year’s mission to our community include inviting the Fairborn Highschool football and basketball teams to our church for a wonderful dinner. We served the players, coaches, cheerleaders, and trainers' dinner that included pasta, salad, and dessert. We were also afforded the opportunity to share the Good News about Jesus and his rescue plan. Plus, we had the opportunity to serve the Fairborn Highschool band during a home football game. We fed the whole band hot dogs and pizza. We had a great Back-to-School Bash that included blow up games, food, and drinks. We had it across the street from the church and invited our community to a time of fun and food. Although we were not able to have our annual Easter Eggstravaganza, our church did put together Easter bags and deliver them to our kids. Wrightview continues to contribute to the local foodbank. Challenges are many and some unexpected, but we continue to seek what God is doing and asking how we can be involved. We know that Christ is Enough. Respectfully Submitted, Todd Edwards, Pastor

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT Dr. Sunberg, Dr. Mahaffey, delegates and friends of the assembly, This is my first report as Lead Pastor of Fairfield. What a blessing that last fall God called us to such a wonderful church. It has been an interesting and exciting first year. Immediately after arriving, my wife and I were able to be a part of a pastoral exchange in Germany led by our NMI president Kurt Johnson. What a wonderful experience and learning opportunity that gave us new eyes into seeing the church differently. We have spent most of this year learning about the church and its people, preaching and teaching the Word and seeking God’s wisdom for leading the church in the days and years to come. We have a wonderful staff and incredible lay leaders who serve and oversee several ministries that are reaching into the community. Our food pantry, ReThreads clothing pantry, Bagged lunches prepared for LaborWorks Temps, Cove & Capri food outreach to the homeless and under sheltered as well as our partnership with Shared Harvest food distribution are all a part of our mission to fulfill what we read in Matthew 25:35-36. I would also like to acknowledge the wonderful work on our Hispanic campus that Pastors Keyla & Gemo Vanegas are doing with their congregation. I am really excited to report about our growth in the “Young Adult” group in the past six months. They are growing in numbers by the day, the Bible study group is diving deep into His Word and they are actively living life together with many activities. The future of the church is bright! As we push forward into the future, it will be a privilege to walk hand in hand with the people of Fairfield as God leads us and see people’s lives changed for all eternity. 100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT I bring you greetings from Felicity Church of the Nazarene. This is my 17th report. We were blessed this

year to see five of our VBS Church kids saved and baptized. We also baptized two adults and received two

new members in our church family.

God continues to bless our VBS Club Church that meets every Friday night. We plan on starting that

ministry back up in the next few weeks. We are grateful for those in the congregation who take the time

on Friday evenings to teach and prepare the food for the kids. We could not do it without you. Thank you!

We reopened our church for corporate worship on Sunday May 31. We are thankful that our families

and our church family are safe, and we are worshiping together again. We are all praising God!

Special thanks to all who assisted me this year: Eva, my wife and assistant pastor, the church board,

teachers, and workers. May God bless you greatly for your hard work and support!

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT Dr. Mahaffey, Dr. Sunberg, Delegates and friends of the District Assembly, I am blessed to bring my 3rd report as Pastor of Franklin Journey and my 35th as a Pastor in the Church of the Nazarene.

At Franklin Journey our desire is to help people experience the fullness of life in Christ. And the moving of the Holy Spirit in the life of our congregation has been very evident this past year. Some of the highlights include:

• Spirit anointed times of worship and Bible study. • Two of our young adults sensed God’s direction to reach out to teens and they are now involved in leading our weekly

NYI. • Despite the financially challenging times from the pandemic and not gathering for worship for approximately 3 months,

our people continued to be very faithful financially during these months. Because of God’s faithfulness through them, we were still able to support the total Church, paying all Allocations in full for the 2nd year in a row.

• Not being able to meet for worship because of the pandemic, we began live streaming on Sunday mornings, touching many people with the good news of the Gospel we weren’t reaching before.

• We continued to reach out to our community with the love of Christ in the following ways: Trick or Treat Outreach – approximately 400 even with bad weather, Souper Bowl of Caring, The Vineyard Downtown – Food and supplies, Elizabeth House – Clothing and baby supplies, Threads of Love – Clothing, Safe House Women’s Shelter – Supplies, Middletown Pregnancy Center – Clothes and baby supplies, Franklin City Schools – School Supplies, sponsor families at Christmas, hats, gloves and scarves for winter, Caring Partners Ministries – Supplies

None of this could be accomplished without a committed congregation and leadership team. I want to thank our Associate Pastor, Missy Mullenhour, our Church Board and Ministry Staff for all their faithfulness and support. And most importantly, I want to thank my wife, Ronda for her love and support. I love you so much and am so thankful for you and all that you do! We give God the praise for all He has done for and through our congregation this year. And we look forward to what God is going to do in and through us as we are faithful to Him!

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT I am amazed by God’s faithfulness and blessing to His people. My sixth year at Georgetown has been

marked by many personal health crises as well as the final illness and loss of my father. The year rounded

out with my son leaving for bootcamp amidst the closing of the church and our daycare due to the pandemic.

Not a typical year by any means. But God has blessed us in remarkable ways. Our people did not falter in

their support of the church financially as we met on Facebook and via conference call. We received a

forgivable paycheck protection loan that enabled us to continue to pay our Wee Care employees. As society

reopened, our Wee Care attendance has rebounded, and our online presence continues to reach many more

than those present in our sanctuary.

During the crisis our people reached out to one another and although we may have been distanced

physically, we were united spiritually. We have a new appreciation for the privilege of meeting together

and look forward to what God will do in the coming year.

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is an honor and privilege to give my second report as Pastor of Germantown Church of the Nazarene. The promise from Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future" continues to guide my ministry. I am frequently humbled at the great and awesome privilege God has placed on my life in allowing me to pastor His church at Germantown Nazarene. Last year we handed out hundreds of pencils and glue bottles to students in Germantown during the festival of churches, followed by handing out thirty-four backpacks full of supplies to kids in need during what has become our annual Back to School Bash. Our partnership with the Valley View Community Clothing Closet has enabled us to cloth multiple Germantown families as well as our surrounding communities over the past twelve months. We continue to look at new ways to reach out to Germantown and the surrounding communities, our church Bible app now has Six hundred six users who receive scripture daily on their mobile devices. Although the past couple months have been challenging, we continued virtual services online and conducted weekly bible studies via conference call. We broadcast weekly sermons on our new You Tube channel, Google website and Facebook Live. Our increased focus on electronic media and our increased online presence have allowed us to reach people who would never come to church to hear the Good News of Jesus. During Good Friday we held and participated in our first ever drive thru communion service. We have faced several financial hurdles this year with repair of our parking lots and replacement of two Air conditioning units (A special thanks to SWO for their assistance). God has continued to bless us financially and spiritually during this time. Once again proving He is still on the throne and has a mission for our church. We continue to see God's Spirit direct and move in the hearts of His people as we welcome all into God's family to discover and follow Jesus. Respectfully Submitted, James Bowman, Pastor

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT This past year has been both challenging and rewarding. The challenging part is of course the COVID virus pandemic. Like every other church, we had to scramble to try to figure out how we would "responsibly" respond to the crisis and still meet the spiritual needs of the church and in addition to the spiritual needs of the people- we also have an on-going (free) Wednesday night community meal and service for the homeless and underserved in our area. However, during these challenging times, God did some wonderful things. The church board secretary stepped in, to livestream the Sunday morning services on Facebook. And it appears that we are reaching more people online than we ever did in person. Praise God! As far as the Wednesday night free meal is concerned- we are working together to try to figure out how to restart the meals in a way that protects both the workers and those who desperately need the food. Another positive thing that I have noticed through all of this, is the number of people that I talk to that are missing church and cannot wait to be back together again. I think through all of this, people's eyes have been opened and they have realized how important church fellowship is and how much they miss it- now that it is closed. Sometimes you don't know what a great thing you have until it is gone. Since I am retiring after 40 years of service, this will be my last report as a pastor. And as I look back at the many years (and moves)- let me say that through the good times and the not-so-good times - God has ALWAYS been faithful and I praise Him for it. As we move on to whatever God has for us next - I want the people of Millville to know that they will always have a special place in Joan and my hearts. They are a very loving, kind and supportive church. My prayer is that God will send them the pastor that they need to lead them forward in their mission to reach the west side of Hamilton for Jesus Christ! PASTOR’S REPORT Dr. Sunberg, Dr. Bob Mahaffey, Members and Friends of the Assembly,

It is my pleasure to submit my fourth report for the Walden Ponds Community Church of the Nazarene. I love these people! They are incredibly supportive and encouraging to me and my family. I couldn’t imagine a better group with whom to serve our Lord. The 2019/2020 church year has presented us with reasons for optimism for the future of our church. We completed the sale of a parcel of land to Sherwin Williams. It took almost two years, but God’s timing is perfect, and we finally have the resources to move forward. We have had many needs to address regarding the condition of our building. Now, we will be able to care for those issues. Plus, we will be able to make upgrades to existing ministry tools. Resources aside, there are even better reasons to celebrate. Our church has welcomed several families who have invigorated our congregation. And, we have had an influx of teenagers, some of which are already involved in church ministry. I am more encouraged than I have been in a while about what God can do through our church family. I want to thank our staff and leadership for their faithful investment in our church. Chrissy Fox (Worship Ministries), Harville Duncan (Senior Adult Ministries), Dana Hicks (Children’s Ministries) are incredible people to have on our team. I would be remiss if I didn’t express my appreciation to our church during a significantly difficult time in my life this past fall. The details are irrelevant. Suffice it to say, their unconditional love and support has been life-altering. The greatest thanks of all belong to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I can do all things through Him who gives me strength and can do nothing apart from Him.

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT Dr. Carla D. Sunberg, Dr. Bob Mahaffey, Delegates and Friends of this assembly: This is my sixth report as pastor of the Harrison Church of the Nazarene. What a year this has been. In November our church Celebrated our 75th Anniversary. It was a wonderful celebration with friends and families that have attended our church over the years. God has blessed this congregation in many ways this past year. We have seen growth in our church and we are excited to see what God is planning to do in the upcoming year. We continue to have great Singsperation Services and Family Game Nights. Our church reaches out to our community in July with the 4th of July Fireworks. We also are connected to the annual Spoketacular Event that is in the park next to our church. We have reached families through our food and clothing pantries and a monthly meal. This past year we made some changes to our music leadership. We are involving more people on every week. It has been great to see this ministry grow. This past Spring, we are now streaming our services on our Facebook group page. This has been a great way to keep us together during the pandemic. God is still helping find new ways to serve our church, community and mission field. It is a privilege to pastor this wonderful church. They have been so good to me and my family. I appreciate my wife Terri and my girls for the sacrifices they have made. And most importantly, I thank my God for being my Heavenly Father and Friend. In this season of my life he has reminded me of this verse. “Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” The Lord Almighty is with us (Psalm 10-11a). 100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT Wow! What a year this has been for the Hillsboro Church of the Nazarene. God has blessed us

tremendously, but it has also been a very trying year. Through it all, God has been faithful. If you remember

last year our church board did the hard task of beginning to turn the ship in the middle of the voyage. They

sat down and went over every program and project of the church. We kept what we felt was needed and got

rid of some sacred cows that were taking time but not producing. We knew when we arrived at a new

mission statement and a new vision statement and began to work on the focus of those Satan would fight.

Well, fight he did. In December, I was diagnosed with multiple blood clots in each lung, and the first night

I was in the hospital, a man next to the church murdered his girlfriend, and then broke into our church and

ultimately committed suicide in our sanctuary. This caused us to not be able to have services for three weeks

because of all the damage and cleaning that had to be done. And then like everyone else we have dealt with

COVID-19 but praise the Lord out of both of those negative situations God has replenished and blessed us

in abundance. We have become more innovative in our thinking about how to reach people than ever before.

Our goal this year is to take the things we have learned through the trials and use them for God’s glory to

build His kingdom.

PASTOR’S REPORT It has been an honor to serve alongside and belong to the community that is Living Hope Church. This has been one crazy year, not just for Living Hope but for the church as a whole. Through it all, we have continued to focus on the challenge of engaging a changing culture with the good news that Jesus offers. This challenge has encouraged us to look for innovative ways to engage in faith conversations with folks who will never step foot in our churches. Our new African refugee congregation is going strong. Led by Pastor Laurent Muvunyi once a month, in order to help our community experience the wonderful diversity of God’s kingdom, we worship together in both Swahili and English! I’m truly amazed at how God continues to do His thing in our midst! Our established online forums from the past year have led to an increased engagement ability during these past few months. We have seen amazing and authentic faith conversations in our virtual gatherings and are excited about the in-roads that have been made in order to disciple folks in this new reality. We continue to serve our local community through ministries like Food 2 Go that serves over 200 kids a week who go home each weekend with food insecurities. We continue to look for ways to partner with already established, secular service organizations like CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), a secular organization that now has multiple Jesus followers in their midst and Just a Little Lunch. It’s our belief that God calls the church to enter into the systems of our world to bring the influence of God’s kingdom people from the inside out! Respectfully Submitted, Jon Gibson, Pastor

PASTOR’S REPORT Dr. Mahaffey, and members of this assembly:

This is my twenty-fifth report on behalf of the Manchester Church. As I begin my report, I want to say that my relationship with the Lord is as strong as it was the day I first met Him 43 years ago, and I am confident that I am right where He wants me to be. At Manchester, even though our community struggles from the closure of the area's two largest employers, we continue to push forward as a church seeking ways to impact our community with the Gospel. For instance, last summer we partnered with the Adam's County Sheriff's Department to hold their Annual Youth Boot Camp at our church. This is a big event in our community, where we taught over 130 children and youth about many of life's issues, including how to have a relationship with Jesus. We also continue to work with other churches in our community to feed the hungry on a regular basis. Like everyone else, the Corona Virus has taken us out of our comfort zone. At the very beginning of this crisis we wondered how we would stay connected to our congregation. So, like many other churches, we saw the need to immediately begin doing Live Stream Worship Services on Face Book. That has been a great benefit to our church during this time of crisis. Also, because of the pandemic, the Manchester Church now has the option to give on-line. That, too, has been a tremendous blessing to our church's financial situation. In closing I want to thank my wife, Debbie, for being my partner in ministry. We recently celebrated 45 years of marriage; and we both agree that we serve a great God and we pastor a great church. PASTOR’S REPORT Well, 2019 - 20 turned out to be quite different than expected at Miamisburg Nazarene. Following a good summer, fall, Advent Season and the early winter months COVID-19 hit! Although not perfectly, our church was beginning to grow and we really sensed some real change happening. Attendance was climbing, some new folks were coming, staying, and creating a “fresh spirit” within our whole church. Our worship in word, song, and giving was alive. Our fellowship was special and compassionate ministries to the families of Mark Twain School as well as to over 120 families monthly through God’s Grace Food Truck Ministries was always supported by our people. Carm and I enjoyed a great mission trip to Guatemala in October and will forever remember the beautiful people and opportunities to serve and be blessed by them. We thank our church for faithfully praying and encouraging us as we went! Our building is now over 30 years with maintenance and replacement items, like A/C roof, ceilings, land etc., ever pressing. Before, and in the midst of COVID -19, we continue to keep bills, including salaries, paid up and the maintenance current. Our sanctuary and several areas have been freshly rearranged, painted and the facility really looks nice! When COVID - 19 it hit in mid-March we immediately closed. We did not have our first service (drive-in) until Mother's Day. It was a very special gathering with about 40 attending in 16 cars! Moms were honored and the people gave a generous offering as they left. The whole time our givers were faithful and we “held our own”. Two weeks after Mother’s Day and following carefully prepared adherence to health guidelines, we opened the church sanctuary for public worship. Services (including Communion with the cups) have been good. From March until we started back, I stayed as connected to as many of our people as possible (nothing replaces personal fellowship) by preparing and sending, via “E” and snail mail, weekly messages to about 60 people. I was a bit surprised to get such a positive response to this effort. I frankly felt I was falling short of what I needed to be doing. Until now I have not felt strongly about going on face book but we are going to try this next Sunday, June 28. We lost several wonderful “pillars” to our church this year. We will never forget them! A funeral service during COVID was different and just not the same but…regardless, we will keep doing the best we can to faithfully be His church these days believing the future is bright! PASTOR’S REPORT Greetings! I’m grateful to be writing my first Pastor’s Report from MiddNaz. This year has been a fantastic time of coming together – a time of transition leading into a time of establishing. Our vision is to be a place of Connection – a place where we all are guided into connections to God, to the Church, and to Others around us. This year has seen facility improvements such as a new roof, new LED lighting throughout our entire facility, new exterior signage, cleaned carpets, and many gallons of paint. We’ve been intentional about the “front-door” of our facility. We’ve partnered with several local organizations to serve our community. In addition to these partnerships, we’ve prepared and served supper monthly at a local shelter; we’ve provided food and housing for homeless families; we’ve provided clothing and baby supplies for new mothers; we’ve fed many through a free-standing food pantry on our property; we’ve assisted our school district with serving lunches during the COVID-19 shutdown. We’re grateful to have been used by God to bless families in our community! As we look ahead, I’m excited about what I see God doing here at MiddNaz! This past year has been one of coming together and finding our identity, and I’m eager to see us pivot from establishing our identity to engaging the mission and vision God is giving us. 100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT It is my honor and privilege to serve the community of Monroe Nazarene. Certainly, all churches have had to make adjustments during these challenging days, but I can say that the faithfulness of our church members have been faithful to the task. Faithful in ministering … We immediately began live streaming when closing our in-person gatherings. We have seen many viewings from outside of our church family and some weeks hundreds of views of our services. Faithful in Giving … We actually have seen an increase in giving during this stressful season, never needing help from the government. Faithful in Serving . . . we continue to serve children at risk. Tutoring 20 students weekly in reading through our Whiz Kids Program; providing necessities for 50-75 people a week through our food pantry; hosting our Summer Lunch & Literacy Program Faithful in Worship . . . an increase in attendance, but more importantly in spiritual growth - baptizing five and welcoming six new members (several new Nazarenes). Also, Rev. Jillian Marsh, joined us as our new Worship Pastor. Faithful in Missions . . . we added a new partnership with the Keseke Church of the Nazarene in Tanzania, Africa, providing $3000 to start an English-language Christian Pre-School which began in January 2020. They plan to add a grade each year. God also enabled us to provide money for a new roof for the church. Jesus has been wonderful and faithful to Monroe and we give Him all the praise! 100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT Greetings to all our friends on the Southwestern Ohio District. The people of New Lebanon are

awesome; Linda and I are privileged to lead such a loving church.

We have certainly been challenged this year with the Pandemic and all the changes that have been forced

upon us. We decided on drive-in church and Facebook, for alternatives to our regular church services. It

has worked so well for us, that we have decided to continue these ministries as unique opportunities for

those who cannot or will not attend our traditional services. We are able to transmit up to 6 miles, which

allows for all of our neighbors to catch our services as well.

We received a wonderful gift this year from a couple who do not attend NLN but wanted to tithe on an

inheritance. The gift will allow us to purchase new furniture for our sanctuary and our fellowship area.

We have gained some this year and lost 3 wonderful and special members. Their lives were examples

of God’s grace and mercy. We know we will see them again someday. All for Jesus.

of this district. I submit my 28th report for the great church of New Richmond. We have seen people saved,

sanctified, baptized, set free, and on fire for God. All budgets have been over paid this year by the blessings

from God. We continue to grow the food ministry, allowing us to touch the needs of so many people. We

have grown the involvement of many churches of the community, through dinners, VBS, and a Prayer booth

at River Days. Our church has helped the homeless, helped break the chains of addiction, and cared for

those not of this church weep for the loss of their loved ones. We have been working Celebrate Recovery

on fire for the Lord. I am proud to submit this report on behalf of this church that is blessed of God. To

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT Over this past year, North Point Community moved into the Vandalia Butler High School as we outgrew our previous location by doubling the families which we initially started with. However, North Point Community continues to strengthen our partnership with the local Library (where we had previously met) by hosting a monthly Wellness Clinic where we pool our resources with local doctors and nurses for non-evasive check-ups, brief educational topics on health, and provide Q&A sessions which are open to the public. We have also begun reaching out to partner with the City Council as well as the Parks and Recreation Department to host upcoming events for the community this coming Fall and Winter where we can get to know our community better and share the Gospel.

Our primary purpose and challenge remain the same; to engage with our community and create disciples of Jesus as instructed by Christ in the Great Commission. We have taken this charge to heart as we reach out and continue to look for creative ways to partner with various businesses and nonprofits of the city and truly be a part of our community. We believe that this is a necessary step to gain the trust and confidence of our community as we begin sharing the hope and love of God, and exercise our faith as becoming examples of Christ with our hands and feet. 100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT This year as we serve the Lord, we learned many things. The first thing we learned, and

possibly the most important is that the “church” is more than a building, a service, or a

meeting. Through the same challenges that the churches of the world have gone

through...our church, Oxford Church of the Nazarene, has risen to meet those challenges.

We have survived both spiritually and physically. We have proven to ourselves and to our

community, that we are a community of believers, willing and able to put our faith into

action. My prayer is that as a district we have all been able to rise to the occasion, to the

challenge and met the needs of each other and our community. Respectfully Submitted, Ray Grilliot Jr., Pastor

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT In summarizing this past year there is a lot to be said. To start off, we were able to have a great Bible school this year. It was very well attended. There was above ninety percent of our congregation that participated in working the Bible school. We had some children seeking the Lord during our invitations. We have been having a quarterly event that we call Friday night Gospel night. The best way to describe this event is that it would be like a one-night revival. These meetings have been well attended with many people joining us from other congregations. My wife (Joyce) along with her partner Peggy became Chaplains at our local hospital and has been able to minister to many of the sick and has even led five people to the Lord. Things were going pretty well until I was hospitalized on Feb. 28th due to a serious infection that was discovered during a routine knee surgery. Shortly after I was released from the hospital, we were forced to shut down our services because of the coronavirus. On the 5th of April (Palm Sunday) we came back together for services in the parking lot with the help of an FM transmitter that allowed everyone to hear the service from their car radios. During our down time, we continued to minister through recorded messages on Facebook. With a lot of planning to ensure peoples safety, we were able to come back into our building for a one-hour Sunday morning worship service with several limitations on May 10th. Services have been going well and our attendance is gaining back. God has been slowly but surely restoring my health. We give God the praise for all that he has done. PASTOR’S REPORT Greetings from Penuel Church! Our church was organized in 2018 at our Southwestern Ohio District Assembly. We have been worshiping with Dayton Parkview Church of the Nazarene for 7 years and we moved to the Huber Heights location in 2017. For us to be In Huber Heights, it was a new beginning of casting our vision and our mission to the Penuel Church family. Our first goal was to make Penuel to become one family worshipping together in our new location. We started out with 86 people and we have grown to over 228 people. We also started an English-speaking service to reach our English-speaking neighbors. For now, we have received 24 English speaking people who are committed to be members of our English-speaking service. We have struggled with teachers for our Children's Ministry, but we have gained a volunteer that has committed to help us in this area. God has done many amazing things at Penuel. There have been healings (emotional, physical, and spiritual), 1 salvation, 18 baby dedications, 1 new member. Our Worship Team and our Youth have been planning to visit different locations in the city of Dayton to worship with other churches, so we can reach other people for Christ. We also have several conferences throughout the year.; August - Outreach Conference; November - Annual Revival Conference; our Praise & Testimony Conference was cancelled due to the COVIO19 and a Youth Conference that is pending. Our target Is to teach our Penuel Members to be disciples of the Gospel. In order to achieve this goal, we hold small in-home cell groups every Saturday evening. We currently have 4 homes and hope to gain 8 more by the end of the year. With these groups, we have seen our church members inviting their neighbors to have fellowship with them.

I am thankful for the way God continues to show faithfulness in our lives. I am grateful for my amazing wife (Esperance) and our 4 children. They have been very supportive of the ministry at Penuel Church in Huber Heights.

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT Dr. Carla Sunberg, Dr. Bob Mahaffey, and members and friends of the Southwestern Ohio District Assembly, I share my 4th report from Sardinia. Before the Pandemic we were at about 85% capacity in our Sunday morning worship service. We were looking at either adding a second service or streaming the service to the Fellowship Hall on Sunday Mornings. We now have two cameras in the upstairs sanctuary and additional technology to be able to stream online and project the service from upstairs to the Fellowship Hall at the same time on Sunday Mornings not only for Social Distancing but for future growth. In his book, Shift, Daron Brown states: “Our first things (for vibrant church renewal) are (1) powered by prayer and (2) a holy core. …When these two are firmly in place, possibilities for vibrant renewal become more than possibilities.” Our church has had a prayer group that has met on Tuesday’s every week and the leadership has been a holy core. Core leaders have behaviorally displayed unity, holiness, and missional focus for the lost. That is the basis of our growth this year. During the end of the school year and during the summer months, our church has assisted Agape Ministries to serve around 100 lunches for the kids of Sardinia; Monday through Friday and during the Covid-19 Pandemic. Our Prime Timers have been active each month sharing together. The church continues to be strong in its emphasis on Missions: financially and by sending two on a Work and Witness Team to Papua New Guinea. Thanks to Rev. Herb Norris and Rev. Gerald Reeves for their support and sharing the pulpit. Thanks to Janice my wife who has joined me in ministry now for 42 years. Respectfully Submitted, Larry D. Hamilton, Pastor

PASTOR’S REPORT

Target Dayton continued its evangelistic and compassionate ministries 6 days a week, preaching the gospel and providing hot meals to thousands of poor and homeless people in the city of Dayton. Hundreds of volunteers from local area churches representing a wide variety of denominations joined with us to serve the poor and were impacted by their experience to serve Christ with greater devotion. Hundreds of people made decisions for Christ in our services and many lives were changed. We held our annual Christmas day service this year at the Dayton Convention Center. Hundreds of people prayed to give their hearts to Christ, and a record 1,500 people received a boxed meal and a Christmas gift box (containing clothing, food, hygiene items and gift card)! In addition, nearly 400 volunteers participated in the event and service. As an essential service for the poor, Target Dayton continued 10 services a week for the poor and homeless in area shelters and delivered 20,000 hot meals to people in low income housing during the COVID-19 crisis. Many lives were impacted for Christ during the crisis. Throughout the year we provided discipleship ministries to people who responded to Christ in our weekly evangelistic services. The Target Dayton Ministries choir traveled and performed throughout the SWO area and was selected as one of 3 groups to perform in front of thousands of people at the Fraze Pavilion in Kettering, Ohio. Cindi and I deeply appreciate the prayers and support of so many who volunteer and give to make this life changing ministry possible for the poor and homeless men, women and children in Dayton. God bless you for giving to feed and save the poor! Respectfully Submitted, Mark Stevens, Pastor

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT Dr. Carla Sunberg & Dr. Bob Mahaffey, and delegates and friends of the Assembly,

This is my fourth Pastor’s Report as the Lead Pastor of Trenton GracePointe Church of the Nazarene. Cheryl and I are blessed to serve along some of the finest, faithful Christians that we have encountered over the years. God has continued to be faithful as he has allowed us to carry out his vision for our church and community. During this past year we have continued to add new families and individuals to our church that reflect that all are welcome, and we have grown deeper in our love for those who need Christ as their Savior. We continue to be committed to a deeper knowledge and understanding of God’s word through our discipleship ministries and Bible studies. Although the pandemic has presented challenges, our people have risen to the task and we continue to look at creative ways to minister. Our small groups, Sunday School classes and small group outreach continue to grow as people obey the leading of the Holy Spirit. After a several month delay, we are finally able to launch our Divorce Care ministry which will help us reach out to more of our community. In addition, we look forward to starting a Grief Share ministry as well. We continue to serve Trenton families alongside the Edgewood Ministerial Association, serve at Target Dayton, support our Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, and look forward to an opportunity to participate in Work and Witness once again. We are actively teaching and connecting our children with our missionaries who are serving abroad. Our children have continued to learn about the Radcliffe family in Papua New Guinea and during VBS and our Wednesday ministries, they have fundraised to support their ministry. I want to thank all of the staff and their spouses, our church board, along with an incredible team of volunteer lay leaders who have served tirelessly and sacrificially to further the kingdom. Without them, this year would not have been so successful.

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT We are grateful for the Lord’s help during the Covid-19 pandemic. Our outdoor services were well

attended and believe it or not…the Spirit of the Lord can bless even at Drive-In Church! Although we

were already streaming online, our social media footprint is certainly larger and more frequent than

before, and it should be.

TCN saw a few salvations and sanctifications and we strive for more this year. A cultural shift is

beginning now as the younger generation is moving into leadership positions. The future is bright and the

challenges are many but God is faithful and He will build His church!

Acts 12:24 reads, “But the word of the Lord continued to grow and to be multiplied.” (NASB) I find it

interesting that this passage does not mention the thousands who were converted but it does mention what

was taking place somewhat behind the scenes…the word of God was prospering. It seems as if the two

are connected in some way, the word of God and the salvation of souls. We long for both.

May God bless Dr. Mahaffey and the district leadership as they continue to give solid and godly

direction to this part of the kingdom. Respectfully Submitted, Tom Ward, Pastor

PASTOR’S REPORT It has been an honor and privilege to serve God and the people of Trotwood West Acres Church of the Nazarene. This past year has been a year of new growth; we have added eight new fellowship members to the congregation. These new people are being discipled and will be invited and encouraged to join as full members of the church body in the near future. During 11 weeks of the COVID19 social distancing and stay at home order by our governor there has been additional weekly communications and care for the congregation. It has been a challenge to the ministry in new ways, yet encouraging to see the effectiveness of these new methods as 95% join us on Sunday morning satellite from our home as well as others that view our services on a regular basis as we streamed our services. With social distancing and lack of in-person fellowship, we began a Wednesday evening online Bible study. This has been a blessing to those even beyond our congregation. There has remained a closeness and support among our people. They have been encouraged to reach out and connect in some manner to several others each week. God has blessed our efforts as we have endeavored to continue ministry at a distance. Although we have struggled financially, God has placed on the hearts of the newer people to begin giving offerings to the church. We have been able to maintain current obligations to continue to minister in our community. During the past year, we have been able to minister to children through a Vacation Bible School, a Christmas Program, home visits, and personal connections. Parents and friends have shown interest with attendance along with some financial support. Special events such as a Sunday morning breakfast and a Taco Sunday dinner brought us new contacts and helped us to connect with our newer growing congregation. We were privileged to host a service and dinner to honor a former pastor, Rev. Donis Burris, and present him with a Distinguished Service Award. This service not only honored Pastor Burris but served as a homecoming for many people that had moved away from the community. This service had a very good attendance and God was glorified. It is very encouraging to see God working in the hearts of people. Respectfully Submitted, Larry McIntosh, Pastor

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT We have met nearly every week, preached the gospel and holiness. We have faithfully given, paying all allocations and above. We have served compassionately our community and faithfully called on the sick and the lost. This has been a very difficult year. We lost three long time members mainly due to old age, and two younger families with children. We have not added any new families this year, but younger Christians have become more faithful and are growing. My wife and I purchased a home and moved, but extensive damage was found which created huge upheaval and distraction. Then COVID pandemic hit which has created huge stress and difficulty in connecting and ministering. On the bright side we have continued to minister through the COVID crisis by streaming services on Facebook Live. New people are watching. We have found a way to continue our Prayer Team and Bible Studies via audio only connection. Many of our people do not have any internet connection. We have had very good times of study and fellowship through these ways. We initiated a Cell Group calling program. A list of everyone connected to the church are divided into 13 cells and each called every week. The call is to encourage, find needs, and pray. Every single person is called every week. Our giving has been very consistent. People have faithfully mailed in tithe. We also initiated electronic giving. People are just beginning to explore how to use this. Facilities. We have continued to maintain and improve our facilities. We did crack sealing of the parking lot. Work on water leaks from the roof and in the basement of the parsonage is contracted. We paid off our new digital sign and have been learning how to use it effectively. Respectfully Submitted, Daniel McLean, Pastor

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT Our fiscal year started with the church board unanimously voting to pay all of our budgets in full. This would be the first time since our incorporation in 2000. There had never been a year where we had given any amount to our educational budget. The month after this decision, we were approached by our neigbor with the proposal to sell about a 3/4 acre of our over 5 acre lot. He was in need of a safer entrance to the amusement park his family was building behind us. After several months of working out an arrangement, we were able to get almost enough to pay off our building loan a year in advance. We would only be about $2,500 short. Then right before Christmas, a pick-up truck came off of our road and wiped out the church sign. After some problems with the zoning being changed since the original sign was installed and the timing of getting the insurance claim settled, we came out ahead with $2,000. The accident was one where there was no insurance noted or driver’s license shown, so we had to pay our deductible. Then three months later, we received a check for the $500 deductible we had lost. If you have followed the math, you will note this fully covered paying off all of our debt without one penny from the church. Thus, we entered into the COVID-19 period debt free. Now I am not going to tell you that if you pay your budgets in full this will be your story. But as for the Waynesville Church of the Nazarene, we are praising God. He is good! 100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT I am truly blessed to be able to submit my 8th report for the wonderful people of WC Naz. We have

spent another year seeking to engage Spirit’s call for us. Our community life revolves around taking steps

of obedience to his call to kneel in worship every day, corporately and individually; to build relational

bridges of discipleship with each other and with our community; and to go into the world in selfless service

and faithful witness, expecting nothing in return.

We served our community at Target Dayton, West Carrollton Food Pantry, West Carrollton Schools,

and we cooperated with West Carrollton City in their Fall Festival, Holiday Festival and pool events. We

supported Oasis House, Good Samaritan Homes, Brigid’s Path, Miami Valley Women’s Center and

Elizabeth’s New Life Center, and BOGG Ministries with our giving, in addition to our regular missions

giving. We had to postpone our Work & Witness teams to build a church in Chamisun, Guatemala, and to

do outreach in Mexico due to Coronavirus. Both teams have been rescheduled for next year.

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT This has been a year that we will never forget! It has had its bright spots and its challenges. As I reflect back over all that has happened, I am left with the same feeling that I have every year at this time, God is faithful! There are many things for us to celebrate today. Our Korean Community celebrated one year of being a PAC church, and we are so blessed to have them as a part of our church family. It has been a slow process, but we hope to soon have Youngduk Kim as our Pastor to the Korean Community. Over the past year, we have been channeling our energy towards our vision (Upward. Outward. Forward.). We established the ‘Dream Team’, which is looking at where our vision will take us in the years to come. We also implemented ‘workflows’, which are designed to help us lead people into our vision by connecting them in discipleship opportunities and plugging them into a place of service. Then there was the virus. There is no question that the quarantine presented challenges for everyone. It also presented a great opportunity for growth. Our leadership jumped right in to find creative ways to minister during this time. The highlights: Drive-Through Good Friday, Drive-In Easter, Porch Pastors, and Video devotionals. Many people in our church stepped up and submitted devotionals to lead our congregation. It was awesome! We will always remember this year for the virus, but I will always remember God’s faithfulness through it. Despite the challenges, our church has grown in many ways. We have grown numerically and financially (this was the 4th highest giving year in the church’s history). But most important, we have grown in faith. God is faithful!

thank God for a great district superintendent who is a wonderful pastor to his people who stands with them

and prays for them. We've had gains and losses this year with the COVID-19 and it's been different in

many ways we have done a lot of messages on Facebook and rejoice in the opportunity to share the gospel

of Jesus Christ our church has grown spiritually. We have all been challenged at West Union in different

100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT The start of our year was marked by a board retreat where decisions were made to look intently into the demographics of our community and the ministries that where effective at reaching and growing people. It also birthed ideas about further improvements to facilities and hiring of a part-time youth pastor. Moving into the fall of the year we had extended a call to Pastor Tyler Hodge to lead our student ministries and Pastor Bobby Hooper to lead our senior adult outreach efforts. We continued in our commitment as a church to faithfully make prayer and God’s word our priority. I believe it has been this focus that has allowed us to see Christ continuing to save and sanctify people through the ministry of our congregation. While COVID-19 pandemic certainly caused us to hit the pause button on many different projects and new ministry plans, it also taught us some valuable lessons about outreach through media and social media platforms. Many members of our congregation have stepped up and are leading us into a sustainable online presence that is introducing us to our target demographic in the midst of these crazy times. Thanks to the faithfulness of my Lord, wife, family, and congregation, God is still doing amazing things in our community through the ministry of the people of Wilmington. 100% WEF, P&B, MVNU and District PASTOR’S REPORT Sue, Christopher, Levi and I have been blessed to be part of the ministry at Xenia Nazarene since August of 2010. I can’t imagine a ministry assignment that I would be enjoying more and be surrounded by more gracious, loving and flexible people than I am at Xenia. Our staff makes my leadership of this church very easy and a lot less stressful. They always have things under control. Thanks to Jeff Blackaby, Nathan Chrisman, Mack Bottoroff, Jaycob Burns, Karen Cummings, Mike Hancock, Brian Leach, Jason McCauley, Cheryl Sabo, Josh Seabolt, and Joey Wallen. Our third campus, on the north side of Xenia, is active. We have invested over $150,000 and thank the district for their contribution to that. We’ve been holding Sunday morning services since November. COVID -19 happened just as we were gaining some momentum, so we have work to do to get back to where we were. During the Covid crisis, we were pleased to supply over 9000 carryout meals out of our Kinsey and Riverside campuses to those struggling from the economic shutdown. We are excited that $1 out of every $4 raised last year, left the church to go toward missional projects in Xenia and around the world. This year we averaged 608 in attendance, which is the first time we’ve been above 600 during my tenure at Xenia. Finally, thank you to my wife Sue. I would not be enjoying these good days of ministry if she had not prayed me through the tough times. Thanks for being the mother of our boys and for always modeling for me what a kind, sweet, gentle spirit is all about. PARENT AFFILIATED CONGREGATIONS (PAC) Allow us to better explain what Parent Affiliated Congregations are in the Church of the Nazarene. Provided for you is a list of PAC Churches that currently exist on the Southwestern Ohio District. WHAT IS A PAC? A PAC is a ministry (organic church, multi-site, multi-congregational, new work, NewStart, etc.) that is reported as affiliated with a parent church. A PAC has a leader or pastor who is responsible for pastoral care of the group and is connected with a parent church. WHY PAC? We want to recognize and celebrate what we want to reproduce! The PAC designation was created to address the needs of churches beginning creative new congregations, who had no way of reporting those new works. Ethnic congregations, organic churches and multi-sites are notable examples. If these affiliated congregations are not registered, they do not receive literature, are not identified via official channels, and do not appear in any database and thus are "off the grid" and unidentifiable for collaborative efforts, networking, and mutual encouragement. WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PAC AND A CHURCH TYPE MISSION (CTM)? CTMs are any not-yet-organized churches which may or may not have a parent church. In contrast, PACs are affiliated with a parent church and may be classified as a not-yet-organized church or an organized church. IF A PAC IS NOT A SEPARATE ENTITY, WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A PAC AND A SMALL GROUP? A small group which is started to reach new people could become a PAC. PACs normally have a leader, are evangelistic, and function as distinct congregation. Final definitions are left to the discretion of the parent church and PAC leader. HOW ARE PAC STATISTICS REPORTED? All PACs are assigned a unique church number. A PAC will appear in the District Journals and within computerized data systems at the Global Ministry Center indented beneath the parent church. This solves a reporting (and identification) problem for congregations-within-churches. A PAC has the option of including some or all of its statistical data with the Parent Church's data. Both the Parent Church and PAC will fill out the Annual Pastor's Report, but there is great flexibility in how the statistics are divvied up, since in all reports they will appear together. WHAT ABOUT "FUNDING THE MISSION?" PACs are not a new method of increasing giving. Congregations registered as PACs contribute to "Funding the Mission" based on reported income, just like all other CTMs. Whether the parent congregation reports the income, or the PAC reports the income is entirely between the parent church and the PAC. Whichever one reports the income would contribute to "Funding the Mission." WHEN WILL THIS BE IMPLEMENTED? The PAC designation was approved by the Board of General Superintendents in May 2011 and is available for immediate use when registering a new congregation.
