Southeastern Region Community Service Competition The Community Service Project is a chapter project that provides an opportunity for undergraduate members of the Southeastern Region of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. to develop a better under- standing of the role civic activities have in society by making a contribution to a community service or charity. They will utilize project management skills to plan and conduct a project to benefit a commu- nity service or charity. Chapters will evaluate the project’s effectiveness in meeting the stated goals and develop a written report and presentation on the procedures of planning, implementing, coordi- nating, and evaluating the project. The project must be from the current sorority year.

Competition

The project consists of two major parts: the written document and the oral video presentation, which is to be given by chapter representatives PRIOR to regional conference. The written document will account for 60 points, and the video pre-sentation will account for the remaining 40 of the total 100 points. Each chapter may have no more than 2 representatives participate in the video presentation. The body of the written entry shall not exceed 8 numbered pages. . This excludes the title page and the table of contents.

The oral presentation shall not exceed 10 minutes in length. The judge will eval-uate the presentation, focusing on how the chapter representatives explain the use of project management skills, the effectiveness of public speaking and pre-sentation skills and how well the chapter representatives respond to questions that the judge may ask during the presentation. All submissions must be ap-proved by the advising graduate chapter in order to qualify, which should be veri-fied with signed documentation.

TITLE PAGE. The first page of the written entry is the title page. It must include in any order, but is not limited to, the following:

TABLE OF CONTENTS. The table of contents should follow the title page. The table of con-tents may be single-spaced and may be one or more pages long. The table of contents page(s) will not be numbered.

BODY OF THE WRITTEN ENTRY. The body of the written entry begins with Section I. Execu-tive Summary, and continues in the sequence outlined here. The first page of the body is numbered “1” and all following pagesare numbered in sequence.

This outline must be followed. Points for each section are included on the Written Entry Eval-uation Form.

Prior to the video, the judge will evaluate the writ-ten portion of the entry. The major emphasis of the written entry is on the content.The chapter representatives will present the project to the judge in a 10-minute video presentation worth 40 points. All representatives must be dressed in roy-al blue and gold business professional attire, pref-erably wearing the official sorority blazer. Each chapter representative must take part in the pre-sentation. Video submissions are due by March 7th to [email protected]. Failure to submit by the deadline, results in disqualification.
