January 3, 2015 meeting of our chapter was held at The South Side Market & BBQ in Elgin Texas.  This meeting was great as we had 40% to 50% of our total membership in atten‐dance / 13 folks.  We never know one month to the next who or how many folks will show up. It is always fun to have members I have never met come and attend, so please let’s all make an effort to come to meetings this year!   We are small membership Chapter but the core members’ rear covering all the bases.  Mark Brians is spearheading the planning and coordination effort for our hosting of the up‐coming Big Country Regional.  Joe Clark con‐tinues to do an outstanding job as tour and meeting chairman.  My personal thanks goes to Mark and Joe.  I am pleased that many members attended, as this meeting was full of information for our members.  Mark and Joe updated those present on the specifics of the Big Country 2016 regional planning. I am sure Ken will disseminate that information in our January newsletter. I would not know where to begin or where to end. I messed up in selected seating in an area that made it difficult for everyone to hear real well and will take care in the future to not have this happen again if possible. It was my fault as I was the first one to arrive and the place was empty, then the place got packed. However after we all had eaten some good BBQ every‐one was feeling better and started updating each other on relevant issues, all things Hud‐son etc. Moving out to the parking lot assured that our talking got a little easier and we were able to interact with each other without having to shout. My assessment as we begin a new year is: the entire Chapter is in good shape and moving forward to our chapter goals. Thanks to all for letting me act as Pres, and all your support. Rodney

The January meeting of the South Texas Chapter of the HET Club was called to order by President Lemmon at 12:20.   There were 13 members present.   With the previous meeting being informal and the Christmas Party, no min‐utes of that meeting were formally taken.  The review minutes posted in the December newsletter were accepted as printed.  Steve Brookins pro‐vided a treasurer’s report of $2340.67 in the chapter coffers.  President Lemmon asked Mark Brians to provide the assembled members with a synopsis of the planning actions he has undertaken in preparation for the Big Country Regional 2016 meeting being hosted by our chapter in Waco, Texas.   The following is a summary of that discussion.   A host hotel has been selected, Holiday Inn Express North in Waco Texas.  A contract has been reviewed and signed with that hotel.   The contract will provide for a hospitality room on the 4th floor.   Along with the hotel preparation, 

selection of a venue for a banquet, the menu and tours are in the planning stages.  Once these elements are finalized, the registration packets will be completed and made available to HET club members.   Mark antici‐pates registration packets will be completed during late spring 2015.  During Marks comments several discus‐sion topics were brought up and members were made aware of the status of each topic.  The national club has an insurance policy with JC Taylor and a certificate of insurance will be provided to Mark to share with the hotel owners.  The club is planning to create tee shirts commemorating the regional.  A vendor has been selected and the shirt art work is being completed.   Cost and availability will be presented within the regis‐tration packet.   A swap meet area will be available as well as parking for members who bring their car to the meet in a trailer.  If you know of a vendor who would be willing to bring their Hudson parts to the regional please contact them and encourage their participation.  Expect more details in upcoming newsletters.  Joe Clark provided members with a summary of planned meetings for 2015.  The following is his report.    (See more details in the upcoming meeting section of the newsletter)

Rodney Lemmon - is now free to work on his Hudson and other projects? Finishing up his non car restoration project this week. Joe Clark — The heater is going strong at the Clark body shop… Joe has reassembled a Saab project car and got is running again after a several year hiatus. The ‘50 2 door paint work is coming along as the weather permits. Ken Cates - both the 53 & 54 Wasp fuel systems received relay controls for the installed electronic fuel pumps. Looking for a couple of reasonably priced bias ply 7:10 X 15 tires to use as spares… found the ones in the truck are dry rotted and flat! Rick Heeke – continues his quest to bring his 1946 Hudson Big Boy pickup back to life. Current plans include the installation of a 262 engine.

Via email: Hudson enthusiast Michael Petti shared the book whose cover is pictured to the left. As part of the book it has a layout on the HUDSON STEPDOWN station wagon with 35 pictures of the Hudson … that was created … not by the factory… using design documents from the HUDSON design group.

John Clement - With the North Texas Hudson Dealers Chapter is sponsoring the Sweet Hearts and Orphans Car meet February 20-22 2015 at Granbury, Texas - see the registration flyer in this newsletter.

There was a time when my HUDSON activities were totally dependant on the WTN , chapter newsletters, letters and the telephone. Today most of my Hudson information exchange is either via Cell phone or the INTERNET.
