Competion Date: August 2015 South Lost Creek South Lost Creek Trail This trail is located in the Castle Public Land Use Zone. The stretch of motorized trail that was repaired runs adjacent to South Lost Creek and connects with North Lost Creek and the North Kootenay Pass. This trail had washed out bridges, which caused riders to ford South Lost Creek. Along the connector trail to North Lost Creek, there were several sections of heavily damaged trail making many spots impassable for riders. In August 2015, the Backcountry Trails Flood Rehabilitation (BTFR) Program and a local contractor worked together to restore this trail by removing flood damaged bridges, installing bridges, relocating trail, closing down all creek crossings and creating water drainage features. Trail relocations provide a more sustainable trail away from the river. We would like to thank Quad Squad for donating some of the bridges and for assistance with decking bridges. Thank you to Cows and Fish who supplied decking material for bridges over critical habitat of Westslope Cutthroat Trout through financial support from the Government of Canada. Also, thank you to the Oldman Watershed Council who helped deck bridges. Approximately 10,000m of trail was restored. In the spring of 2016, the BTFR Program will provide permanent erosion control to the closed fords by completing soil bioengineering. 93 22 27 5 7 2 9 6 42 3 22 22X 1 72 2A 22 22 54 11 12 53 11 5 1A 21 1A 2 93 40 66 8 24 2 6 23 Castle Calgary Airdrie Red Deer Lacombe S o u t h L o s t C r eek 33 " ) Completed Bridges Completed Project Program Area Protected Areas ! A Qualified Aquatic Environmental Specialist (QAES) checks water quality during construction.

The ford is closed and with future measures such as willow staking, the stream bed will recover.
