Overall Learner Objectives:This symposium will serve to unite multiple health systemswith the common interest of improving stroke patient careand outcomes and will feature presentations by specialists in the management of acute stroke and neurovascular emergencies. Topics will include best practices utilizedacross the nation to reduce door-to-needle times, improvepatient outcomes, and improve patient and general medicalprovider recognition of acute strokes and neurovascularemergencies.

Discussions will also be held regarding new guidelinesreleased by the American Heart Association and AmericanStroke Association. Other sessions include case reviews,simulation models, panels with experts within the fields ofemergency medicine and vascular surgery, and a nursingpanel that will offer the perspective of those who are with thepatients throughout their entire hospitalization.

Participants will leave with a greater understanding of the complex nature of acute stroke and neurovascular emergencies, and what the future may hold for this dynamicfield of medicine.

Intended Audience:The intended audience for this conference includes primarycare physicians and specialists in emergency medicine, neurology, and neurosurgery. Residents, fellows, advancedpractice nurses, nurses, radiology technicians, and otherphysicians with an educational need or interest in this topicmay also attend.
