Trustee Profile:Name: Jerry Le Sueur

About:Until retiring I worked for a central government department providing a range of consultancy support for statutory and voluntary organisations across England covering organisational and change management reviews, support for regeneration initiatives, neighbourhood management, housing, partnership development, decentralisation of services and empowering local communities.

Prior to this I was the Director for East Brighton New Deal for Communities and before this Assistant Director Housing Services for Brighton & Hove.

In a voluntary capacity, I have been a steering group member for the Joseph Rowntree Foundation on their research programmes on neighbourhoods and governance. I have also been a Trustee on the board of a number of organisation’s including Brighton Housing Trust, a youth club in East Brighton, the Hastings & St Leonards Foreshore Trust and up until moving to Worthing (2012) was a Trustee of ZAP Arts.

Hobbies:Mountain biking, watersports, golfing (or at least going to the golf course) and a FIT4 member as well as enjoying the local cinemas and restaurants!

Why do you want to be part of South Downs Leisure?

My positive experience of Worthing Leisure was a big prompt when the invite for Trustees was first published. I believe that the Trust structure offers a real opportunity and exciting challenge to grow what is already a great service for the local area and to develop this in partnership with others in the community.

Trustee Profile:Name: David FlemingAbout:After university I originally trained as an accountant with Deloittes. In 1977 I was awarded a bursary from the Social Science Research Council to study for a postgraduate qualification in Recreation Management. Since then I have worked for over 32 years at a senior level within the sport,leisure,culture industry. I am a Fellow of the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA).

In 1982 I was appointed as the first manager of the Mountbatten Centre, Portsmouth. In 1984 I joined Brighton Borough Council and continued to work for its successor authorities as a Head of Service,Deputy Director and Assistant Director. For 25 years of my service I retained line management responsibility for the overall operation of the Brighton Centre.

In 2000 I established the Major Projects Team to assist the council in the delivery and implementation of key infrastructure investment projects. I was the council’s lead officer and lead negotiator for a number of major projects including the new Central Library and Jubilee Street Redevelopment, the award winning Seafront Development Initiative and the community football stadium at Falmer.

Hobbies:Current affairs, walking, cinema, and watching a wide variety of sports.

Why do you want to be part of South Downs Leisure?

My first job in leisure was for a private limited company and charitable trust which I enjoyed enormously. I received invaluable support from the trustees and would like to reciprocate by helping South Downs Leisure.

Trustee Profile:Name: Diane Tapp

About:I have extensive experience of sales and marketing having worked for national companies such as Yellow pages, Whitbread's, Sharps & Magnet. For the last 14 years I have worked in Worthing in both print media and Radio advertising sales.

I am currently Sales Manager at Media Sound Holdings which incorporates 5 local radio stations; Splash FM being one of those.

In this position I am fortunate to meet with all types of Worthing businesses and charities advising and guiding on best use of marketing budgets. Having worked in the area for many years I have seen great improvements to the town and the growth and development of the area ensures it continues to be a great place to live and work.

Hobbies:Swimming, travelling, live music, rugby spectator.

Why do you want to be part of South Downs Leisure?

I have been involved in the leisure industry for nearly 30 years as both a customer and as a sounding board for my husband who manages and consults still in the leisure industry. I feel with both my inside knowledge of leisure and my sales and marketing expertise I have something unique to offer and I am keen to use my spare time in helping and guiding this new Worthing trust.

Trustee Profile:Name: James GarnerAbout:For the last 12 years I have been involved in Education in Worthing. My current role is as Head of PE at Thomas A Becket Middle School (TAB) a large and very successful Middle School. I am also a Governor at TAB and have been involved in the reorganisation of Worthing Schools from Primary/Middle to Infant/Junior. This has been a very interesting and often challenging process.

In addition to these opportunities in school, I have also been working on a Steering Group for the Worthing School Sports Association, as a group we over see all sporting events and training within Worthing schools. The WSSA has gone from strength to strength and we continue to provide outstanding PE and School sport..

Last year I was appointed as a Specialist Leader of Education (SLE) and I work with other PE teachers in Brighton to develop their provision.

Hobbies:I have played Rugby for Shoreham RFC for over 13 years and have a keen interest in most sports. I am also very interested in new technology and how this can be used to improve provision of PE in schools.

Why do you want to be part of South Downs Leisure?

As part of my role, I am very interested in the development of health and lifestyle opportunites in Worthing. I also think that I bring a lot of knowledge and understanding about Education and the needs of schools in our area.

Trustee Profile:Name: Gillian Jackson

ACCA FMAAT

About:Gillian qualified as a Chartered Certified account (ACCA) in December 2010.

For the last four years Gillian has worked as Head of Finance (HOF) for a la carte healthcare limited (ALC Health), an international private medical insurance company based in Steyning. She has various duties and responsibilities but her favourite is strategic planning and the budgeting and cash flow planning which supports that. ALC’s Gross Premium is £14m with a company turnover of £4m.

Prior to working for ALC Health, Gillian has worked for various different manufacturing companies in West Sussex and apart from her finance duties has been responsible for HR and IT software training.

Gillian loves Excel… so if you ever have an Excel question or conundrum, don’t hesitate to ask!

Gillian has previously been Treasurer for Worthing Music and Arts Festival, and since stepping down in 2012, she has continued to examine their charity accounts.

Hobbies:Gillian is a member of Worthing Musical Comedy Society and JuSSt Voices (a local choir).

She also helps Raw Energy Pursuits who put on Triathlons, Open Water Swims, and Running events in the West Sussex area.

Why do you want to be part of South Downs Leisure?

As a FIT4 member since inception and someone who enjoys the new Splashpoint facility immensely, Gillian thought it would be good to support the new Leisure Trust and to give back to the community.

Trustee Profile:Name: Joanne Lawrence-HallAbout:Joanne Lawrence-Hall is a native of Sussex and has lived in Worthing for the past twenty-eight years. After graduating from the University of Oxford, she trained as a Solicitor in the City of London and has spent her career in the Cities of London and Westminster. She specialises in employment law and has many years’ experience of advising employers particularly in the charitable sector. She is a Freeman of the City of London and a Trustee of a grant giving Trust which assists students of the performing arts.

Hobbies:Attending Lyric Theatre and art galleries, music and reading. Why do you want to be part of

Trustee Profile:Name: Kris von Habsburg

About:Kris has over 20 years of experience in the tourism and hospitality industries. Besides working for tour operators, restaurants, and hotels, he has also taught at universities and colleges on the respective subjects. For a number of years now Kris has assisted many organisations as a management consultant.

Having lived an adventurous life in Thailand, the USA, Ireland and Australia, he and his family settled in Worthing where he is a Rotary Club member and actively supports charities such as the Neuroblastoma Children's Cancer Alliance UK.

Hobbies:Swimming, sailing, photography.

Why do you want to be part of South Downs Leisure?

I am honoured to be able to assist the leisure facilities and services benefiting the community at large. The continuing commercial and social success is important to me.

Trustee Profile:Name: Cllr Luke ProudfootAbout:I am a local Councillor for Castle Ward in Worthing. I work for a local Member of Parliament as a caseworker and secretary.

I have always had a keen interest in sports, having played football at school, basketball at college and Lacrosse at University.

Over the last few years I have become very interested in running. I run distance from 5km to half marathon at the moment and will be looking to do a marathon in the next couple of years.

Hobbies:Running, lacrosse, reading history and political books.

Why do you want to be part of South Downs Leisure?

I want to be able to ensure that local residents are listened to and that their local leisure trust remains run by local people.

Trustee Profile:Name: Zoe Smith

About:I relocated to Worthing from London via Brighton nearly 10 years ago. I have a range of professional experience across private and public sectors having spent the early part of my career in the investment management industry. I currently work for Capita plc as part of the West Sussex County Council partnership while studying towards qualifying as a Chartered Secretary and bringing up a young family.

I am an active FIT4 member and am passionate about the positive impact that sport and exercise can have on people of all ages and backgrounds.

I am delighted to have been appointed as a trustee of the South Downs Leisure Trust and look forward to helping the Trust play its part in the on-going development of Worthing as a great place to live, work and visit.

Hobbies:Attending FIT4 classes, cooking and planning holidays.

Why do you want to be part of South Downs Leisure?

I want to put the skills and knowledge that I have developed through my professional experience and studies to good use in support of a new organisation whose aims I feel a real affinity for.

Trustee Profile:Name: Louise Murphy About:I was elected to Worthing Borough Council in May 2014 and subsequently appointed to the following committees:

Licensing & Control – both main and sub committeesGovernance (formerly Governance & Audit) Joint Planning Overview & Scrutiny – Worthing only

I have also been appointed Policy Advisor to the Cabinet Member for Customer Service – Mary Lermitte. I am the Council Representative for the Worthing Twinning Association, Commit to Culture & Group Treasurer for the Worthing Conservatives.

In my current role, I work in Credit Control within the Commercial Banking Division of HSBC and have previously worked in Moscow, Russia and Athens, Greece.

Hobbies:Astronomy, cinema, live music and travelling.

It’s a fantastic opportunity to get involved in a project that aims to enhance the local facilities here in Worthing for the benefit of all.

Trustee Profile:Name: Julia Gleeson

About:I have worked for Worthing Leisure since June 1998. I hold a Sports science degree.

I started work in the gym at the Aquarena following a career break to have 3 children. I then progressed to teaching Fitness classes and also developing the Group Fitness product across the sites in the role of Studio Co-ordinator.

I have recently moved into the role of Fitness Manager with responsibility for the Group Fitness and Fitness advisor staff together with Outreach activities.

I feel privileged that I can facilitate life changing fitness experiences for our community in Worthing.

Hobbies:Marathon running, swimming, and spending time with my family.

Why do you want to be part of South Downs Leisure?

I am so excited about South Downs Leisure trust and am really looking forward to using my experience, enthusiasm and motivation within the new trust.
