About Us

Sama Tours is a family run business established in 2003. We pride our-selves in being South Africa’s leading motorcycle touring company. Since 2003, SAMA has led thousands of bikers from all over the world on tours of Southern Africa. Our core values are simple- we are a family run busi-ness that really cares about the qual-ity of your experience in our country. We run all the tours ourselves and respond to all enquiries personally. As of 2014, we are official BMW Motorrad Touring partners, meaning that our tours are run according to the high standards set out by BMW.

Do you have a partner that does not ride? Non riding passengers can book onto the tour with you and we will reserve a spot for them in our

What is included in the tour price?

Motorcycle Rental, Petrol, quality accommodation, meals and exciting activities and safaris are all included in the tour price. All tours are led by Local South African tour guides (BMW Approved) who know the best motorcycling routes in South Africa. All Your luggage is carried in our back up vehicle providing ultimate freedom for your ride. Please note that certain meals, petrol on tours that travel into Southern Africa and flights are not included

Back Up vehicle

On all our guided tours we have an air conditioned back up vehicle that

follows the group. This vehicle carries all the luggage of the group as well asa spare motorcycle, tools, a first aid kit, tea, coffee, bottled water and snacks. If you have a partner that does not ride motorcycles, you can book him or her a spot in the back up vehicle for the trip. If your passenger or pillion gets tired they can also ride the backup vehicle as much as they like.

Accommodation

We use 3-4 star accommodation for all our motorcycle tours. All Lodgings have been personally chosen by the Sama Team for their high standard of luxury and service. All lodges have beautiful, charming settings and all

Self Guided Tours

Our famous guided tours are also available without a tourguide or back up vehicle for those who prefer independent riding. On a Self-Guided tour we book all your accommodation, activities and Safaris for you, supply you with a GPS fully loaded with route maps and provide side panniers and a top box for luggage. You also received a detailed itinerary, guide book, map and 24 hour support.

Motorcycle Rentals

We offer BMW F700GS, F800GS, R1200GS and R1200GS Adventure models for rental.All our motorcycles are less than two years old, maintained daily and serviced exclusively by BMW approved mechanics. You can rest assured knowing that the bike you will be riding on tour is in top notch condition- almost like riding right off the dealership floor. All rental bikes come standard with a top box, unlimited mileage, cross border papers and 24 hour back-up support. Side panniers, tank bags and GPS’s as well as Jackets, helmets and gloves are also available for rental.

Safety in South Africa

South Africa is a very popular tourist destination and it is easy to see why all the places we visit on our tours are safe and tourist friendly. As a country we have top quality medical facilities and quick and efficient emergency response services. Our back-up drives are all trained in basic first aid.

Riding level required

We welcome riders of all levels of experience and patrons are encour-aged to ride at their own pace at all times. Our scheduled guided tours take place 99% on good paved/ tarmac road. However all tour include free optional dirt rides led by our tour guides. You can ride as much or as little dirt as you like.

Group Sizes

We specialize in small group motor-cycle adventures. On average we have between 6 and 10 motorcycles on a tour and we never take more than 12 Motorcycles. This way our tourguides are able to give more care and attention to each individual on the tour.

Tour Guides

All our Tour guides are local South Africans with a passion for Southern Africa and motorcycle riding. They will be able to show you South Africa through their own eyes and interpret local cultures for you. All our guides have been through intensive tour-guide training (As laid out by BMW Motorrad) and will be able to offer you friendly and professional service.

Mini motorcycle vacation with great roads, wildlife and awesome sights!This 7 day tour travels from Pretoria through to Hazyview (Also known as “Bikers Paradise”) where you will get to spend the next 2 days driving around beautiful mountain passes and visiting magical view sites. The Garden Route tour is one of our favourite motorcycle adventures- 2 weeks of riding some of the best roads South Africa has to offer. We start off by riding the beautiful moun-tains of Lesotho, exploring Golden Gate National Park and travelling through the famous Drakensberg Range. We join the ocean in East London and follow it all the way to Cape Town, exploring the Garden Route, Tsitsikamma, Oudtshoorn and Route 62 along the way. A major highlight is riding all the way to the southernmost tip of Africa at Cape Agulhas and then riding sweeping ocean roads all the way into Cape Town where our tour ends on day 12.

You start in Pretoria where you enjoy a Motorcycle Safari through a BIG 5 game reserve. From here you make your way through the twisting mountain passes of Mpumalanga, visiting the Shangana cultural village, and the world famous Kruger National Park, followed by the Kingdom of Swaziland.

This 5 day motorcycle tour is the perfect amount of time to ride some of the best roads South Africa has on offer. Start off by riding through the beautiful mountains and lush forests of Magoebaskloof. Next up ride the Panorama Route to Hazyview. The mountain passes in this area are exhilarating! The next day will embark on an open vehicle safari into the world famous Kruger National Park. The tour ends with a trip into the mountainous kingdom of Swaziland before returning to Pretoria again.
