SOUTH AFRICAN MILITARY HEALTH SERVICE

BACKGROUNDThe SA Military Health Service is offering young South Africans an opportunity to serve in uniform over a period of 2 years. These training anddevelopment opportunities will be constituted by a voluntary Military SkillsDevelopment System (MSDS) in order to equip young South Africans withmarket related skills.

Potential applicants between the age of 18-22 need to have the minimum requirement of Grade 12.

STUDY OPPORTUNITIES & SELECTION CRITERIAPlease note that training in any one of these fields cannot be guaranteed andwill be subjected to the availability of posts and further selection criteria.The SA Military Health Service does not offer “bursaries” as do companiesin the private sector. Instead selected candidates are required to join the SANDF on a contractual basis. This necessitates the successful completion of prescibed military courses during the 1st year of the contract, were after studies at selected tertiary institutions and continued service in the SANDFfor the remainder of the contract period follows.

Please note that, in adoption to the academic requirements, the following selection criteria are applicable: All candidates must be found medically fit for appointment in the SAMHS. All candidates must be accepted by a Military Selection Board. Where applicable, Grade 11 Final exam results will be taken into account by the Military Selection Board, if the candidate is busy with grade 12. Applicants must not be older than 22 years of age when commencing training. Candidates must be SA citizens. Preferably a single male or female. Have no record of criminal offence. On successful completion of military training and functional courses, successful candidates will be considered for further studies. Candidates who do not comply with the minimum academic requirements will not be considered.
