Gas in Victoria The gas market in Australia is a contestable and contracted market; with numerous retailers providing low cost gas to consumers and businesses in Victoria. Depending on the location in Victoria one of three distributors will service the area: Envestra; SP Ausnet; and Multinet. Based on current market pricing, Victoria’s gas prices, depending on consumption levels, are on average across the three suppliers, 23 to 41 percent below NSW and 45 to 70 percent below QLD. The table gives examples of businesses that could fit into each load profile. Consumption at a site level can vary significantly depending on the exact activities and equipment that is installed at the site.
