    Living Inside Out Every Day!

DISTRIBUTEGive a copy of today’s “Living Inside Out Every Day!” handout to each child. Say: This paper has ideas for how you can live inside out this week. Let’s choose our Daily Challenges.

DAILY CHALLENGES™Read the Daily Challenges aloud. Have children circle the one they’ll do this week.

MAKE THE CONNECTIONSay: Jesus wants us to treat others in the same way we want to be treated. When we do this, we show respect for others and we obey Jesus. We respect everyone.

PRAYSay: Dear God, please help us always respect everyone. We want to do to others as we would want them to do to us. Thank you for loving us. In Jesus’ name, amen.

    YOU’LL NEED Bibles • Bible Memory Makers®

    1. SAY THE VERSEHand out the Bible Memory Maker canteens, and have kids read 1 Peter 2:17 in their Bibles. Say: Part of our Key Verse, 1 Peter 2:17, is on our canteens: “Respect everyone.” Sometimes, those two words aren’t very easy to live out.

    2. PLAYSay: When traveling on a wilderness trail, we can sometimes shout across a canyon and hear our words echo back as the sound bounces from one side to the other. Let’s create a “canteen canyon” and echo our Key Verse back and forth. Ask the entire group to place their canteens in a line on the fl oor to create an imaginary canyon wall. Have everyone sit behind the canyon wall. Invite a child to begin the echo. Ask him or her to say the Key Verse as if shouting across a canyon. Ask the rest of the kids to imitate the words of the person beginning the echo. Let others take turns.

    3. DISCUSS • Talk about what you had to do to echo, or imitate, someone’s

    voice.

    • How closely are you imitating God’s voice in your life?

    4. MAKE THE CONNECTIONSay: It’s not easy to imitate someone else’s voice as perfectly as an echo. However, if we listen carefully, we can come close! God’s voice is heard in his Word, and by listening to his Word, we can respect everyone. Collect the Bible Memory Makers to use in next week’s lesson.

    Daily Challenge®

    Living Inside Out Every Day!

Choose a Challenge!Your child chose the marked challenge for the week. Help your child remember to follow through and live out his or her faith.

CHALLENGE 1Pray for someone who doesn’t treat you nicely, and think of a way you can show him or her respect—then do it!

CHALLENGE 2We can show that we respect others by respecting their stuff . Look around your room to see what you’ve borrowed from someone. Return it with a word of thanks.

CHALLENGE 3Write out the words of Luke 6:31, and put them on your mirror, in your book bag, or in your locker as a reminder to respect others.

The Inside TruthThis week your child learned that showing respect to others is an important way to follow God. Jesus didn’t say it would always be an easy path to follow. That’s why he showed us the way.

Do You Remember?Talk about these questions with your child:

    • What important things did Jesus teach us about showing respect to others?

    • In what ways does God want us to show respect?

    Upper Elementary Luke 6:27-36

    Key Verse

    The Point

“Respect everyone, and love your Christian brothers and sisters.”

Play Time!1. Find an open space in your house with your family,

and dedicate the next 30 minutes to “Play Time!”

    2. Ask family members what game they’d like to play. Let them choose, even if it’s one you don’t want to play.

    3. Take time to play the game, and tell them you respect their choice!

Right-Way Compass1. Sit with your family at a table, and place the picture of the

compass in the middle for reference.

    2. Look at the picture, and together draw a “family” compass.

    3. Use the abbreviation of each direction (North, South, East, and West) to remind your family members to each do the following this week:

Note: Write a note or send an e-mail to someone to let that person know that he or she is important to you.

Share: Share some of your stuff with a person you don’t usually share with.

Encourage: Be a super-encourager today to someone.

Work: Clean something, carry something—help someone with a job they have to do.

Parents, choose “Right-Way Compass” or “Play Time!” to help reinforce what your child learned.
