Some ideas for History Club activities......

On your own, or in pairs, research and write an article about any event or character from history that interests you.

Design a questionnaire to ask other teachers to nominate their ‘history hero’ giving their reasons. The results could then be written up for display.

In pairs or small groups why not research the history of your house or street? Or maybe one of your ancestors?

Write a ‘horrible history’ of Congleton (or wherever you live). – you would need to research the gruesome bits.

Produce a history guide map to your own home town or village.

Take a digital photo of your local war memorial and bring it into history club. Mr Hickton can then show you how to research the names to tell the story of what happened.

Write a review of any history books you have read or films you have seen.

Why not undertake a census study – pick a street or building you know that was around 100 years ago. It is then possible to use the internet to find out who lived there in the past.

Think of questions the History Club can send out to a history expert to answer.

Of course you might have ideas of your own.

In all cases the best examples can be written up for display in the history rooms or on the web site.
